Stopped into the Bellingham Costco today and it was well worth the trip. They had a massive rib-eye roast package with $75 off, and after my husband sliced it up at home, we ended up with 17 beautiful steaks each about 1.75" thick for roughly $16 per steak! Incredible value, especially with prices these days. The store was definitely busy the holidays are in full swing but the lines moved quickly and the staff kept everything flowing smoothly. Crowded? Yes. Stressful? Not at all. Great deals, great energy, and totally worth the visit today! read more

I usually love Costco and have had good experiences with the optical department regarding glasses. However, I tried to order contacts online for the first time and had a horrible experience. At the time I didn't know that contacts had a different prescription so I put in my glasses prescription to order the contacts. I submitted my order and got sent the contacts pretty quickly. When I received the contacts they were obviously very uncomfortable, even after I followed online suggestions for how to get used to wearing them. Finally I decided to go to my optometrist, who I had originally not gone to for contacts because they were more expensive. My optometrist explained the difference between contacts and glasses prescriptions to me and was shocked and horrified that Costco had let me order contacts without a proper prescription. I went to Costco yesterday to return my contacts and was so upset with the lack of help I received. The woman in the optical department said I couldn't return opened contacts. I had worn one set from a monthly box. The ones I brought in the box were unopened! When I explained how I was able to order them online without a prescription she said "you shouldn't have been able to do that". No kidding! She also said I shouldn't have been approved to get them because an optometrist has to sign off on the prescription before they're ordered but that sometimes the online regulations are too relaxed. What they actually did was illegally approve my contacts order and then didn't help me get any money back from a purchase that should never have been approved. Just very disappointed they wouldn't give me my money back for something that should have more regulations so people aren't screwed over trying to get contacts at a Costco price. read more

Parking lot is huge but can still be packed at times, Store gets very busy and can be crowded in certain areas. But great deals and worth the traffic for these deals. They could have used more samples, only the crackers were out today. :( Car wash works for what it needs to do but could use Christmas lights. We went here Saturday to pick up a black stone grill for my husband's birthday. We had Grant going above and beyond to help us find it in the store. He then found another employee Casey, to help us load it on the flatbed cart. We were so happy and pleasantly surprised to find out the grill was 100.00 dollars cheaper than our local Costco in Lake Stevens. It was pouring down rain when we tried to load it. Two very kind and helpful customers helped us load it in the truck. The best experience ever at this location!! Worth the hour drive!!! read more

***UPDATE Feb.17, 2023*** I just wanted to note that this Costco now has a CAR WASH! It just opened up two months ago, and the guy manning the gas station pumps told me that it's quite the anomaly, that Costco only has put car washes in their hotter, southern states. This is the only Costco car wash in a colder state/province. And it's so convenient! If you fill up with gas here, there's an option to add-on a car wash for $7.99. Then when you drive up to the car wash entrance, the guys there are super nice, and the drive-thru wash is fantastic! My car was horribly dirty and I doubted one drive through would get all the gunk off. But it did! I'll now get a car wash here every time I go to B'Ham, for sure. read more

Costco US customer service is so unlike Costco Canada. It's terrible and they don't respond to you, unlike in Canada. Furthermore, it seems to me Costco USA has become greedy (greedflation) and they are part of the inflation problem. Another thing too is don't get a car wash here. Lots of people have damaged vehicles after the wash.There needs to be a spot check/video of each member and vehicle entering the wash that will clearly show when the car wash equipment damages the vehicle. read more

I am updating my review based on my recent shopping experience during the coronavirus pandemic (August 27, 2020). The focus of this update is on their response to response to Covid-19. Please read my original review for my general shopping experience here. COVID-19 Measures (as of August 27, 2020) + Plexiglass shields are installed at the checkout stands. + All the store employees wear face coverings. COVID-19 Measures No Longer In Effect - They no longer limit the number of customers in the store. - I saw a few food sample stations today (bad idea). - They no longer sanitize the checkout stands after every customer. - I have seen sanitizer pumps by the carts, but I haven't seen them clean their carts past few times. Final Thoughts As you can see from above, Costco used to do a lot to fight against COVID-19, but they dropped or relaxed many of the measures during Phase 2 of reopening. We are still technically in Phase 2 just because the governor has not ordered us to revert to Phase 1. However, the State of Washington is not doing well at all evidenced by the fact that the governor extended the pause on reopening indefinitely on August 4. That said, businesses should be at least as vigilant as before if not more. What Costco has done is therefore disappointing. They are known for taking good care of their employees, but I cannot believe that because they obviously do not mind putting their employees as well as customers in danger. *THIS IS A REVIEW FOR THE MEN'S BATHROOM ONLY!!* I thought it would be better to use the men's restroom at Costco rather than to wait a few more miles down the road to use the rest area. Sadly, there's a good chance I was wrong. All 3 stalls in the men's restroom need maintenance. The first stall I tried - the middle stall of three - the door didn't close all the way so it wouldn't lock. I really didn't want someone walking in on me while I was trying to wipe my @$$, so I waited for another one to open up. The second stall didn't have any toilet paper. The third stall finally opened up, so I used it. That door nearly didn't close all the way either! In fact, I had to grab the door by the bottom and pull it towards me just to get it to close enough for it to lock too. Men's bathroom seriously needs maintenance. 1/5 would not poo here again unless I absolutely had to. Do better. #PooReview read more

This is the brightest, cleanest, newest, most spacious Costco I have ever been in! Items are easy to find, there is enough space between aisles and tables to give people (and their humongous carts) space to traverse, and the food court was empty at dinnertime! There is ample parking, at least at 4:30 on a Wednesday afternoon, and the lot is set up such that no matter where you park, you are an easy walk to the front door. It seems this is also the first Costco I've been to where the entry door is on the right and the exit on the left (but maybe it's just the ones I have been to?). The employees seem to not notice anyone, no smiles, no greetings; even at the checkout counter, the two young men ringing us out had their own conversation about their girlfriends the entire time, stopping only to tell me the total on my bill and continuing. No greeting, no gratitude, nothing. Perhaps more training, less entitlement is needed. read more

It is a necessity for those of us who need "supplies" for our homes & families, especially @ this shut down time. The wiping down of the carts, distancing the occupants & gloved cashiers is much appreciated. Controlling the "flow" in store is well handled by a very competent friendly staff; at the door, working the aisles with product as well as spacing at checkout. This is your normal average Costco with one difference. This is probably the most crowded one I've ever been in. Parking near the door is impossible but if you don't mind walking a ways there is parking. Once inside be careful because people will run you over or hit you with their cart. My daughter says it's this crowded all the time because it's the only one around Bellingham and a close drive for people living in Canada. read more

I apologize in advance for this long review, but hope others learn from this experience so they do not have to tolerate the same customer service as us. I experienced my worst customer service experience in my life at Bellingham Costco and am disappointed that Costco allows individuals like this to work here. My family and I have been long term loyal Executive Membership Customers for over 30 years (and used to love it!) and are appalled that Costco allows service reps like this. We had a terrible experience with Alan from the phone kiosk. In short, Alan yelled at me on the phone, first raising his voice, and then eventually screaming "No. You listen here. I am not going to waste my time explaining this to you", when I tried to clear up a misunderstanding. He threw the phone back to my mother and walked away. This behavior is unacceptable and is upsetting. ---- Story is below: First, I had called Costco in Bellingham at the end of December regarding the Apple iPhone XS Max product. We were informed that the price for a 256 gB iPhone XS Max was $50 less than if we were to purchase it from Apple. We were told that this is the warehouse price, and the price does not expire. Recently, my mother drove to the Costco in Bellingham on 1/05/18 at 4:00 P.M. We were informed of the price of the product as equivalent as Apple after financing options. We spent an hour speaking with the kiosk rep, Alan, providing significant amounts of information regarding our phone plan, who said that this was the price of the product and there was no other price. He refused to look up additional information for us. He finally called his manager after a significant amount of time and learned we were correct. I later realized that he was being discriminatory and had assumed that we would not be able to purchase this phone at full price and therefore did not present that outright purchase option to us. And if not, then he did not even know the prices of the phones he was selling. We spent another half an hour learning that we needed the social security number of the primary phone plan holder and could not purchase the phone outright. We retrieved the SSN before Costco closing time, but he was nowhere to be seen. I understand that because it was close to closing time, he probably disappeared so he would not have to stay beyond his hours. However I am very disappointed that my mother was forced to stay another evening due to his lack of knowledge/unwillingness to look up something for us earlier (I was traveling out of state the next day). At the end of the day, this specific situation made us aware we were working with a rude kiosk representative, but live and let live. However, the next morning, Alan was still there. After providing the correct information and SSN, he informed us that my name was on the phone plan and my mother's name was not, therefore she could not purchase the phone for me, regardless of the fact that I was on the line and could provide all information including sending a picture of an ID. He stated that someone who was on the plan had to be physically present (I understand if you have to follow a policy, however, what is to stop someone on the plan from purchasing the phone and handing it off to someone else? Could I not FaceTime my ID/myself? That's a different discussion though). The previous evening, he did not specify that I had to be physically present to provide my ID for him to verify. I was two hours away and could not come and needed a new phone. I spoke with Alan on the phone and stated "I am disappointed that you didn't inform us about this yesterday" and was about to explain that the time urgency behind this situation was that I was traveling and it would be nice to have clear instructions for customers in the future. At this point, he started yelling at me about not wasting his time and that he refused to work with us anymore because we needed additional information. I am able to tolerate a lot, but one thing that I hope (and expect), is that there is mutual respect at all times. I have never had a customer service representative say I was wasting their time; we are always thanked for our time. I lost all respect when I was yelled at. Alan was aggressive and hostile. In this day and age of recording, I wish I had recorded this to show how unprofessional Alan is, for yelling at customers and undermining them. He then walked away, refusing to provide manager info. Fortunately, the situation resolved when I was able to have an uncle on my phone plan come by Costco, work with another representative to smoothly figure things out. Three family members and two half days were involved and yelling and undermining. I am disappointed Costco allows employees like this to work in their center. read more

The default go-to Costco south of the border for us Canadians here in Vancouver. Standard selection of Costco bulk items. With the current sad exchange rate for the Canadian dollar, I definitely see the sharp drop in crowds at this Costco. Certain items are still priced much more competitively than in Canada, such as my dad's fave Kettle chips, and NyQuil, among other items. The Costco gasoline pumps only accept certain cards (I can't recall which exactly) so make sure you have the right credit/debit cards before waiting in the lines. read more

Costco is seriously one of the most awesome places on the planet. Something for everyone. Samples galore. And of course, their delicious food. Parking is available in the nice large lot out front. The product selection is quite a bit better than that of the Canadian (BC) stores. This is true of most American stores in general though. Pricing is hit or miss, especially when compared with that oh-so-fickle exchange rate. Special mention goes to a) their booze selection, and b) their famed chicken bake. Greasy on the outside, bacon and cream on the inside. In other words, one nice steaming crispy heart attack. If the fat doesn't get you, the sodium inside will. Don't look at the nutrition information. Seriously. Lastly, if you get the chili, this thing tastes way better with a pile of onions from that cool little dispenser with the crank. read more

My daughter told me about this chicken melt they have at the costco restaurants and that she was dying to try it!!! I am so glad it has fake bacon in it as it turned her stomach even though she was 21 weeks pregnant. I however thought it tasted alright so I proceeded to eat only half of one of these melts. BIG MISTAKE.... I was sicker than a dog for the next 5 days. diarhea, nasea, all the typical symptoms of food poisoning. I am curious how many of these things caused people to get sick? I have tried getting a hold of the store but still have had no response from the managers. Apparently we want to dish out bad meat and get people sick but not deal with those that say something, and maybe correct it! I was here with my family for a grocery shopping and this Costco tends to have better selections than ones in Canada. Organic soymilk was cheap(around $10 US) and delicious. Naan breads are very delicious too, it's something you don't find here in Canadian locations. It was so easy to find parking here as the US conversion rate is still bad. There are great finds in Bellingham Costco. I got light puffer(or call it down jacket) for a $30 which was super light and comfy. It was definitely steal and I got compliments from my friends. Very rare to find a jacket for a low price in Canada. Shopping in Bellingham feels like a treasure hunt to me. Churro is so yummy and the chocolate twist cone is 2x portion here. We bought cooked crabs from here one time and it was good. read more

Costco Bellingham is a go to for our family. The product selection is better than any Canadian Costco I've ever been to. The store is easy to find, parking not always easy to find though. The reason for this review now is as follows. Paid cash for my order, the cashier checked the bills I provided to verify they were authentic. Then handed me a stack of used bills for my change. A little later while trying to purchase gas with the change handed to me at Costco. It was noted that the 20 dollar bill I received as change was a fake. Phoned Costco and asked what they could do. Answer is ... Nothing. They say the do what they can. I would advise all shoppers paying in Cash to have the cashier check every bill being returned as change. My guess is that many will discover that they are getting fake currency returned to them. While I asked Costco if they did this as a policy, they denied it but lets be honest, why wouldn't they want to offload the problem onto their customers and save the loss. Other than the change issue and the poor response from the management at Costco regarding this issue, I will continue to purchase there but will switch to using my CC to protect myself. read more

This Costco is Busy! All Canadians come down and swarm the place on weekends! It's not the largest store, and they do have some decent stock. They do their best to replenish it as quickly as possible. I had pre-ordered some tires for the truck. When I went to have them mounted, the manager said they were theijbh wrong size, (which I knew) and informed me that to warranty the tires they would need to be in spec with manufacturer guidelines. I'm a bit of a geek and had an understanding of what they were. He informed me that the difference between the look and handling would be much better if I went with the proper specs. I resisted, but did understand and went with what he recommended. The difference was very little on the look, and it really increased the control of the truck dramatically. Super impressed by the knowledge of the what and how the truck would do better with his suggestions. Hat's off to the manager of the Bellingham Costco. Highly recommend. read more

Great Floors ( business that installed carpet) was rude, dismissive and had no customer service skills. Costco seemed OK with that. So dissatisfied today. Went up to the food counter to purchase a couple cold sodas for such a warm day. There was a couple in fro t of my and a young clerk with her back to the counter. "Araceli " was doing her very best at ignoring all of us. She studied the hot dog thermometer extensively. Spill ice on the back counter, swept some of it onto the floor, oops best go check on the pizza coming out the oven. Meanwhile we just stand there. "Excuse me?!" No response "Hello?!" No response "Hello, are you open?" Eye contact! Yes I just have to do some things first. Looks down and begins cutting pizza with surgical precision. Thank goodness another employee walked by. Asked her if she could help us? She approached Araceli and said what she was doing could wait and to help us. I did eventually get my two cold sodas, but she shorted me $4.00 in change. read more

Welcome to the huge, bright, brand new Bellingham Costco! Home of a stadium-sized parking lot, the world's biggest dairy fridge, and wider aisles to accommodate anyone who feels the need to push their cart at a high rate of speed. I've been here a few times now and I gotta say, I'm impressed. No more crazy crowds blocking access to the olive oil. No more chaotic milk grabs. No more carefully-parked police cars out front just to warn everyone they're keeping an eye out for troublemakers. And, perhaps best of all, no more long-ass lines at the gas pumps, the checkout lines, or the food court. It was a long time coming, but I gotta say it was worth the wait. Pretty sure it was French.. I think it was called le diete pepsi.. the cafe also provides a wide variety of accoutrements free of charge from all over the globe, I had this dark orange paste that had a sweet and tangy tomato base on one site of my charcuterie and a yellow spice sauce on the other.. all for usd $1.50. What a great place to prepare for an apocalypse. Wholesale warehouse stores like Costco are great for buying in bulk whether you're throwing a party, buying supplies for your business or feeding a family of four or more. Even though I'm buying just for myself, I appreciate being able to purchase high quality items in bulk with a long shelf life at a deeply discounted price. Afterall, 30 jumbo rolls of toilet paper never expire. It can also be a great place to buy printer ink, electronics and sporting/recreational equipment. The other advantage of your $55, annual membership is being able to fill up your gas tank cheaply. Unfortunately a lot of other people think this too, so there are l-o-n-g lines at the pump. British Columbia has the 2nd highest gas price in Canada, so you will see plenty of visitors from BC filling up their tank and several gas canisters to take with them. I'm sad that Costco has decided to end their partnership with American Express in June 2016. Fortunately, Costco will accept cash, checks and debit cards at the checkout for those not willing to part with AMEX. At the gas pump, you'll need to use a debit card or Mastercard/Visa. Although I doubt I'll ever have to fend off zombies, I'll definitely continue to fill my gas tank and my home with goods from here. read more
