On our way to our cabin but we're running late and we're hungry…read more We rolled into Wofford Heights and decided to stop at Charlie's Market for one of their large combination pizzas The friendly gals in the kitchen took my order while they were busy preparing cheese burgers they are delicious I enjoyed them before. Gals said 25 minutes so we drove into Kernville checked out the mighty Kern River before we headed back to Charlie's They were slicing our pie as I entered, perfect timing. The 8 mile drive up Hwy 155 to our cabin was tough because Charlie's pizza smelled so good. It didn't disappoint lots of cheese,veggies, sausage, hamburger, pepperoni, it was outstanding and had enough for another delicious meal. Check out Charlie's kitchen you won't be disappointed

Well folks, turns out it's a "census-designated place" (not even a town, how about that!!) near Lake Isabella with a population of just 1956, as of the 2010 Census. If you're still lost, it's approximately 32 miles (That's ALL it was?) east-northeast of Bakersfield, up in the mountains. Now I'm sure you are asking "what were you doing there?" Yes I was wondering the same thing. LOL I went to look at (and buy) a vintage washing machine and this is where it was... out in the boonies! They have plenty of restrooms right across from it. They are very knowledgable of the area, offer fishing licenses, some camping and fishing gear, plenty of snacks, propane, ice, gift-shop, drinks, beer, lotto, Shell gasoline and other items. It is also very clean and the people I have encountered working the counter have always been very welcoming and friendly.

TRI TIP!!! We stayed across the street at the Sequoia Lodge, and in the morning you can see them start the smoker and that sweet smell... Their little restaurant is phenomenal. The various hot sauces are a great touch, but the service and smiles that come with it are the cherry on top. Anything with tri-tip, but especially the breakfast burrito and their French toast (no tri tip, lol) are to die for.
