First off I love all the cool food items I've found here and the great prices. I've been coming her for awhile now like most locals and never disappointed with shopping here but maybe the last 6 months there's been this lady working the register a few times with glasses, might be a manager I'm not sure but she really needs to step up her people skills. The first time she rang me up she had major RBF but I thought maybe she was just having a bad day cuz we all do every now and then but then the 2nd time same thing. Didn't even say a word. Well today again for the idk 4/5 time same, it's like wow. At least acknowledge the person, not looking for a conversation but maybe not look so angry all the time. I decided to stop by and take a peek to see what they had at this location. The store is very clean and organized. I visited at a busy time of 5:00pm on a Monday night. I was happy to see they had 2 pints of my favorite ice cream brand left. (My local GO hasn't had it for a few weeks.) I was also happy to find the last bag of ~8oz bag of York Peppermint Patties on the shelf selling for $2.99. Sure they expire this month but I just saw the same bag at Walmart for $5.99. I've been known to live dangerously when it comes to chocolate and I will consume chocolate that has been sitting in my pantry for a year so it expiring the same month as purchased doesn't frighten me. The cashier was really nice and I admire her that she is fluent in Spanish and we spoke briefly about how great her Spanish is. (I'm learning Spanish.) I definitely recommend this location. I just wish I had more chances to check it out but I live in Oxnard and even though I am in Simi Valley once a week for work, I don't have the time to pop in. read more

Got some great prices on blueberries, plant based breakfast patties, cauliflower and plant based milk. Blueberries were $4 for 18oz which beats out Smart&Final's discounts for this week. Cauliflower was $2 for a head. Jumbo sausage patties were $3 for 60g of protein. Silk oat and pea blend milk was $1.47 because the best by date is today. I wish they'd marked it down to a $1 but $1.47 is already $0.50 cheaper than their normal price so I guess that's decent enough. I'm not sure if the pound of tamale corn husks for $10 was a good price but I looked up the price at smart&final and supposedly, it's cheaper at grocery outlet. It really shocked me to see the receipt say 25$ at checkout though. Hopefully, my tamales turn out well because the corn husks were way more expensive than they should've been. I was looking for coconut oil and there was plenty of staff around Wednesday morning, working on restocking the store, so it was easy to flag one down and ask for help. She guided me to aisle 1 which I mentioned I'd already looked through and she went to check the back for me. A minute later, she came out and apologized that they didn't have any in stock. I appreciate her doing a thorough search for this item for me instead of just waving me in the direction she thought it'd be. I would've been sent on a goose chase for a product that they don't even have had she done that. I wonder what discounts they offer to people who have a phone number with them. The cashier never asked if I have one with them. Maybe I shall look into that so I can see if I can collect points since I enjoy shopping here. read more

I love shopping at the Grocery Outlet, and often times, I find very good quality stuff here. The store is organized and clean, and very convenient. After a workout at the gym next door, it's great to grab something quick. You have to be realistic about where you're shopping at and who the customers might be. It is your responsibility to check expiration dates on the products, because yes, in order for YOU to get a good deal, sometimes the things are close to the sell by date. Be patient with them if they get busy and the line is long. They have a lot of regular items on constant rotation, but since it's an "outlet", I assume it means they get the overstock or other products that don't go elsewhere, so some things might not be there consistently. The workers here know me by now, everyone is helpful and friendly, even when the customers are absolutely horrendous to them. Here are the shopping reasons I love Grocery Outlet and these products sometimes vary: Grass fed organic meats; Good quality avocado and Olive oil; Organic cultured yogurt (lately they have Nancy's, which is amazing and for an amazing price); Asian products and sauces; pickled products; A great selection of wines (many times, highly rated bottles for very cheap) and beer (We have beer here from our local brewery); some hard liquors if you're not picky; organic milk and butter; a wide selection of well priced salami and cheeses (as well as crackers) perfect for your charcuterie board; Well priced Keurig Cups; I even found on several occasions (as toxic free as possible) skin care/body products I have seen on EWG.org. You can't forget the great selection of health foods, bars, protein powders. They even have mushroom powders, ashwaganda, and the like for your health smoothies and superfoods. I have recently found Laird's superfood creamer here as well. You can get Holiday decor, soil and things for planting during the season, pet food and treats, your favourite sodas and seltzers, nuts and dried fruit. Don't be petty about the small stuff. They may or may not have specific things or everything you might be looking for, but the prices are great. Yeah, once in a while you might find poor produce or something on the shelf that's past its date - let them know when you pay, I'm sure they appreciate it. And put your cart back in the stall. Workers are all so friendly. You never know what you'll find, because things rotate in and out. A lot of things have a short shelf life, thus the discount. However, if you know you're eating it soon, doesn't matter. Great place for little league team snacks. read more

On 11/28/22 I purchased an EOS shimmer lip balm from the Grocery Outlet in Moorpark CA. The product smelled rancid (like old cooking oil) so I contacted EOS via email and checked the expiration date. Per EOS, the product expired November 2020. I was advised to discard it. Not wanting to eat the $3.99 cost, I tried to return it to my local Grocery Outlet in Camarillo. I was told that Grocery Outlets are privately owned so I'd have to take it back to the Moorpark store. The cost of the item isn't worth the time or gas so this is pretty much the last time I purchase any perishables without expiration dates from a Grocery Outlet. No quality control and miss labeling. I've purchased outdated and expired products, they keep them on the shelf even after they know they are expired. I picked out frozen pizza. I saw a huge yellow sign that said "Digiorno pizza, various types 4.99ea." So I went through the pile and found two pizzas. 4 cheese and the last three meat - all the rest were Mac and cheese and breakfast types. At the register it came up as 6.99 I said something and the manager came up and said "no" only the breakfast one is on sale. I showed him his sign, clearly stating "various types" . It was like talking to a rock, I clearly was not understanding that various meant only one kind. Clearly a bait and switch and if I didn't notice I would have been overcharged. I did not buy any of the items I had picked up and left the store. The miss marking is not my issue. It's how the manager handled the issue when confronted. He assumed I could tell "various" meant only "one" type and then argued with me when I pointed it out clearly to him. This store is absolutely my most favorite market! The staff is very helpful and friendly, and I shop there at least a couple times each week. They have great prices and good deals, and you never know what other surprises they are going to have. I always buy my fruits and veggies there as well as frozen items, bread (Dave's!) and beer/wine. The store isn't horrible but it does need a bit of an overhaul in many areas. The Grocery Outlet advertising theme over the sound system is absolutely annoying and no one needs to hear it at volume 100. Items that you really do come to appreciate buying on a regular basis are suddenly gone and not restocked at all. I realize this is part of their system of business but if you know certain items are purchased on a constant basis then how about making it part of your stock line up always. I you ask a question to one of the employees about a particular item and when they may have it again, they have no clue. You cannot have a bunch of teenagers working and expect customer service to be high. read more

Just came out from shopping. I use my earbuds on long flights mostly. Today, however, though the music over the PA system was pedantic, there was the worst screaming kid ever. Not only yelling and screaming, but also running around the store as if he owned it. Turns out the employees must have made him think that because he had a store shirt on and a store ID. screaming "Mommy! Mommy!...". Yes, this kid was an employee's kid wreaking havoc while she "worked". I've never seen so many annoyed customers, rolling their eyes, ever! Some people cut their shopping trip short. I know I did. My Favorite grocery store in Moorpark ! Ever since they changed management this store has gotten so much better ! The prices are so affordable , every Wednesday they have wine days which I love . The problem with this place is that the lines are so long because there's only one cashier. The selection isn't that great and the discount on some of the items is good but the rest are the same as normal market. That with a 15 minute wait in line, it is not even worth it. I went here today for the first time! A couple days ago I signed up to get emails from them and received a $5 dollar off $15 spent. I walked around for a little bit just to get the feel of where everything is at. I saw dairy free yogurt which I had to buy so I can try! I am lactose intolerant so dairy alternatives is a fun and interesting fine for me! I also bought kale, organic green beans and edamame, ginger, apples and oranges. I also bought organic pizza rolls and dog food. The dog food I bought is usually $1 at target but it was 2 for $1 here! I also bought chocolate protein powder which I am excited to try! Overall many of the items I usually buy at other stores were available at a cheaper price. After reading some negative reviews from Facebook posts, I thought I would give it a try! And I actually loved it and I definitely will be back. I am a poor college student so I have this rule where I can only buy items that I can carry in my own two hands Overall, I spent only $12.58 on everything! I love Grocery Outlet but the one in Ventura is so much better. They have better deals and have never over charged me like this one always seems to do. It says one price which is either in the wrong spot which is directly under the item or it just scans up higher than what it's listed. Also why are somethings one week $1.49 than next week there $1.99. Yeah prices are not that great either. Last time paid $1.49 for a can of cinnamon rolls that were expiring that week. I am so glad grocery outlet is here in Moorpark! Everyone needs to understand that this is a bargain market and it is owned by a husband and wife and it is not a huge corporate owned chain. There are tons of bargains cheeses alone the fancy ones you get at Trader Joe's are almost in half bacon is cheaper to produce although it might not last as long is great for the price and you get something different sometimes when you come in. This is what we needed in Moorpark although we also need a Trader Joe's this is a great place to find some bargains although not everything is going to be super cheap it's kind of in the middle. There are some great wines and the husband and wife are super helpful and happy and want to be a part of the community I was very impressed with them and I like to support new small businesses so let's get out there and do that. This store has the best deals in Moorpark, I've noticed that they have been bringing way more products in which makes the store look very nice. Staff is always friendly and willing to help others. I always see the staff there working , and the aisles are always looking sharp. I always say that I'm going to shop for one item and I end up with my whole shopping cart full. I love this store! It's not your typical grocery store but they do have some great finds! I live in Oak Park and me and my friend try to come out every other week and are always glad we did. I have gotten great deals you just got to give it a chance. It's not a quick glance store you have to give your self time to check it out. Checked out the store this weekend and did not see anything that I needed or liked. I find the compare to labels misleading. You have to know prices to shop here. I will continue to shop Vons or Ralph's and Aldi in Simi. Hard to train an old dog new tricks. Aldi does have the best prices. May be private label but you can't beat the prices. One thing I did like at grocery outlet was the wine prices. Unfortunately I did not see many people in the store in Saturday. read more
