The store is bigger, brighter, and consistently well‑stocked. I've never walked in and found something missing from my list, which makes shopping here feel effortless. The staff has also been great -- friendly at checkout and always willing to answer questions. It's clear they take pride in keeping the store running smoothly. Produce has good prices for some items. I come here when things are on sale so I get better prices than the competitors. The plant based selection is there in the right back corner of the store and the selection is pretty decent although might not be as fair priced as the competition. I walked straight to the restroom and I found that it was clean, but the faucets on the sink were a little loose so it was a little difficult to turn off the water. I checked out the reduced price markdown clearance $1 bags near the restroom and nothing there seemed that good except maybe the green peppers. The 4 tomatoes in a $1 bag seemed to be too mushy to salvage. The 2 eggplants in a bag had several bruises. Those seemed salvageable. I wasn't shopping for peppers but if I was, I would've gotten them. There was like 15 in a single bag. The avocados were really really mushy, like you filled a shell with guacamole. I'm not sure I'd ever get that unless I was desperate. The cilantro was 2 bunches for $0.88 which was cheaper than I expected, cheaper than Grocery Outlet Bargain market too. I got roma tomatoes on sale for $0.71 per lb. That's all I grabbed although I was tempted by the $0.69 per lb white onions. I checked out the plant based milk prices while I was there and I found that I could get cheaper options at Grocery Outlet, although Smart&Final has a larger and more varied selection. Smart&Final also has a good selection of plant based proteins, butters, mayo, spreads, and cheese although the prices aren't as good as say a Whole Foods or Vons. I wasn't able to find any plant based yogurt. The cashier could've been a bit nicer. I was feeling down and the cashier made my mood a little worse. read more

This is a fine smart and final, cleaner than the ones in the valley. I don't see why the complainers are so complainy. Most smart and finals have been fine. I don't remember any problem I've had here. My standards aren't as high as the complainers maybe. How I use this store, I come in person, look around and buy my items. I'm a 33 year old man, Im a tool guy. I work in the grime and dirt. This place is always bright and shiny. I like coming here, it's as the recording on the phone says: "great items for wholesale price". What have I bought from here? - Jello packets - 50lb bags of popcorn(love it) - Sapporo 3$ beer cans - frozen shrimp - bagel bites and other frozen junk food - lots of first street stuff: -- meat ... I'll update this when I remember more I've been going to the one in chatsworth for 15 years and it's my favorite store. I don't know who is the owner of them, but I see a lot of Koreans in large displays over the years, I've seen like a whole beef brisket beef slab, so I'm assuming it's Korean owned. read more

I was really impressed by how clean everything was and well-stocked. We were also asked by two employees while shopping if we were finding everything okay. I don't normally shop here and didn't know but this is a normal grocery store. I always remember Smart and Final as a wholesale place but they now have regular groceries. They do have some bigger wholesale packs like costco, but also have smaller family packs for everything. I was able to get a couple of really good deals from the weekly ad and the checkout was really quick. I will be adding this store to my weekly shopping trips or when I just need to grab something quick on my way home from work. read more

I had an amazing shopping experience at Smart & Final in Moorpark, thanks to Nate! I was looking for some acrylic drinking glasses that were sold out at my neighborhood store, so I called to ask if someone there could check ahead of time.... to save me a needless trip. I love shopping at Smart & Final! They have a great selection of both store and name brand items and have recently redone their refrigerated section with doors to keep foods colder. I love how they have both regular and bulk items to include food and non food items such as paper products as well as serve-ware. This is definitely the go to place when I buy all of my party items! Smart & Final has competitive prices on their alcoholic beverages and always has a great variety to choose from! They also carry both regular and dry ice. read more

Got here there was plenty of parking , the thing that bothered me was that the carts where not clean and the there was no sanitize wipes to clean the carts. I got there and I didn't hardly see any cashiers, I like on how they have a system where it takes a customer one at a time and then it tells you what register to go to it was all electronic. I just finished what had to be the toughest and chewiest piece of meat I have had my entire life, and I'm in my 60s. It was a boneless Choice rib-eye. It looked great in the package but once cooked between medium and medium rare it was INCREDIBLY tough. I actually couldn't finish it because my mouth was getting sore. It was on sale for 13 bucks, from around 16. I once had a brisket cooked like a steak (not BBQ'd), which was a mistake since a BBQ book I have describes brisket like John Wayne's shoe leather unless you slow cook it for 12 hours. This rib eye was even tougher. Next time, I'll drive the extra few miles to Simi and get a Stater Brothers steak at HALF the price and superior quality to this dog food quality steak, which is what the rest of my steak is destined to be. read more

Just heard a long, rambling, boring story about Zoe's trip to France. She went via Spain and Portugal and was surprised that Hawaiian pizza was on offer in Spain. Wow, that's a ton of info from a person I simply want to MOVE THE @%&*#! ing line. The poor man Zoe was telling this story to was visibly aggravated but Zoe can't pick up social cues or scan and speak. There are good cashier here, but time to get Zoe off the register. Positives: large and clean store. They added more variety, meats is a plus! Unfortunately, their line of produce is somewhat disappointing. A lot of their products are either brought to them nearly frozen or they re store the produce in the refrigerator. Bananas for example don't ripped properly, avocados are firm but when cut the inside is dark. This only happens when avocado is re frozen. Some of the fruits are not sweet enough. read more

Avoid Rosa's line. She copped a huge attitude because I wouldn't buy bags, and then went passive-aggressive. She refused to push the groceries down to the end where I was packing my cart, let my groceries pile up just out of arms reach and let them fall all over the floor by her feet. She was picking them up off the floor and putting them back up out of reach. I had to ask her to push them down so I could pack my own groceries. It got even worse when I asked her to send someone for a new bottle of milk because the lid caved in when it dropped. I've been shopping here for 10 years, but that was the last time. For a grocery store to succumb to theft and dishonesty with their customers is beyond me. It's an ethical issue this entire store has. I was overcharged for some produce and went back after checking my receipt because I had a suspicion it didn't ring properly. I was $10 over. I went back in to dispute this with a cashier, I gave him my receipt and he said "let me check the price" and left me to wait. He came back and said "I need to wait for my manager to come." When the manager came, I asked for my receipt and he said gave back my receipt and he didn't have it. So I had no proof outside of my credit card statement. The manager continued to refuse to help me without a receipt, and I was in shock that they thought I was sit there and lie about $10. So the manager said let me go in the back and look at the transactions made. He came out after 15 minutes and claimed I never made a transaction and they couldn't find it. Before he even left, I picked up the phone and called BOA to dispute these charges. When he heard I was on the phone with BOA WITH A REPRESENTATIVE READY TO DISCUSS, he called the other manager who went in the back and came back and told them to pay me in cash. They refused to document anything. I genuinely don't care about a $10 difference, but for them to be so shady and completely rude to customers is not okay. Can you imagine how many other customers they take advantage of?? Unreal. Unacceptable. Needs change. read more

I have always loved shopping at this location, the store was well organized. But not now! The meat section was next to the vegetable section, I plan meals around what are the great deals on meat and go and choose the associated vegetables I will require. Now the meat is kitty cornered from the produce. Extremely poor lay out IMHO. I understand they are not finished with the remodeling, but it's obvious that it will be this way going forward. And somebody mentioned that the center isle will be no more. It looks like they want to be like Vons - a place I hate. To much walking from end to end for me. I'll withhold my final judgment and give them time to get it completed, but it doesn't look good right now. S&F has always been my favorite store to shop at but this new arrangement is a big negative for me. read more

I had to order a bunch of snacks for a special event and needed bulk delivered to the store. Once the store had received my order I spoke with Mario and he was incredibly helpful. I was attempting to get my snacks delivered through Instacart, which was a total bust, but I ended up taking loads of his time. He was accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure the pickup of my order went smoothly. I was a bit of a pain but he was more than happy to help. Love the Moorpark store. However, twice this week I noticed the scale to measure weight of produce are 30% less than the electronic scale at check out. So I went back to the store with a 1 pound weight and verified the mechanical scale was correct and it was. So I paid 30% more for bananas and yams at checkout on 2 separate trips. When I asked the cashier to check she said she would ask manager to look into....so I thought I would give a 3rd try this evening.....still off. So nothing has been done. Monday, I am contacting weights and measures at the county of Ventura to inform them of two things. First their inside scale does not show the public that their scale has been verified and calibrated by their office and second it's off by 30% or more when measured. Buyer beware and look at your receipt and challenge what your suppose to be paying for. read more

Our go to store for some of the bulk items we use. Especially good with bulk meat. We got a 11 lb hunk of sirloin and we cut it up ourselves into steaks that we freeze for later. The meat winds up being the best there is and easily beats meat that is packaged like Vons and Ralphs. Like most places, YMMV so be careful on pricing. But the bulk meats are the best. read more

Terrible, pathetic, inconsistent are just a few of the words to describe this place. Their quality runs hot and cold and sometimes they have what you want and sometimes they don't. Like today a Saturday at 3:30, how can you run out of cilantro? Meats are out of date and some dairly products also, HELLO OPEN YOUR EYES. They don't pick through their fruits and veggies very well either so you have to be careful otherwise you'll be sorry when you get it home. Has bulk dispensers now, which is fun as its expanded the inventory and gives you the opportunity to try some thing without committing to an entire package of something. Staff is always friendly. I have never really shopped at a smart and final but I decided to give it a try. They have great deals on produce. I was thrilled at the avocado prices. And everything else I got was relatively cheap. Definitely cut my usual grocery bill in half. Customer service is ok. No one really goes above and beyond but I wasn't too worried. The store is very clean but the one problem I have with smart & final is with the weekly ads. For example, the ads show specific premium beer like Sierra Nevada torpedoes or Lagunitas for prices to good to be true. So, if you're going to buy good beer on sale don't waste your time at smart & final because it's never stocked. Save time and just go to Bevmo or Rite-aid. This type of advertisement is just bait and switch to get you in to grocery shop. read more
