This store had a great sale -- $21.00 off a $28.00 frozen 10-12 pound turkey if you bought $35 worth of other stuff [with the usual exclusion of alcohol, gift cards, and dairy] I went in on a Tuesday and got the deal. I had more than one coupon, so I went back on Thursday and when I went to check out I was told that the turkeys had been re-priced on Wednesday to $69.95 -- the clerk showed me the scan on the check out register as she laugh in my face -- so the turkey that was $7 on Tuesday would be $48.95 on Thursday -- and I still had to buy the $35 worth of other stuff to get that rip-off. This is one of my favorite places for grocery shopping! The selection is amazing and the prices are without match the best for groceries. The products in store seem to be varying over time and some phase in and out, but most of the products are always available. I've been meaning to send out a quick plug for this place on McDonald. If is neither an abundance of organic produce nor a huge variety of items like Natural Grocer of Safeway. However every time I come here I'm bowled over by their innovative and always changing selections, amazing prices and incredibly sweet staff. And yes there are some organic and natural products. Wish there were more veggies and fruits that are organic because I'd be there every day. And a few more cheese Very impressed with the cleanliness as well. I hope they stick around and keep improving. They recently put in a chain link fence that has the aesthetics of a prison yard. I can't imagine what purpose it serves. There is a restaurant that is in the works on the corner which will have patrons utilizing the large lot for parking. And probably using the store to buy groceries while they are there. Is it to deter this? I hope they rethink this ugly addition or at least run some passionflower vines up it because the last thing this area needs is a store that looks like a correctional institution. Wow! Grocery Outlet has blown my socks off! This is my first visit here and I'm glad I came. I ended up finding some awesome things that I didn't even know they carried. I found a 13 year old wine for only $6.99... Hello! How awesome is that?! I also couldn't believe that they carried Good Karma alternative milk products at only $2.99 a half gallon instead of $4.00. I also found some of my favorite discounted Cover girl products at only $2.99. I'd say I definitely hit the jackpot here and I would have come sooner if I knew they had such great deals. I'm from LA (the land of cheaper, more bountiful grocery stores) and grocery outlet fills a void. They are starting to open some locations in So Cal, and people will love it. If Ross was a grocery store, the concept is grocery outlet. You can buy things for really cheap (Emril's failed appetizer line) and other discontinued frozen stuff. If you love something the only downside is that they won't have it forever. Grocery outlet is also a reliable source of cheese, milk, bread, and other essentials. They always have this stuff for a competitive price. My favorite is a two pack of NY strip steaks for 5.99. I like to go to a good produce store (like Las Montanas) and supplement it with grocery outlet. If they have it, it's an amazing price and worth the trip. They have great beer and wine specials as well. read more

This is the kind of grocery store you come and have to make sure you carefully review the expiration date on every product, as many of the items they sell are on the verge of expiring, or sometimes, have already met their maker. It is always a hit or miss experience, sometimes you'll find a great deal of products, other times you won't. I live in the neighborhood and I often come here to get the best deals. I have a birthday party in preparing for and came in for a few things. There was a East Indian man wearing a safety vest standing at the door. I didn't think anything as many businesses now have that to ensure people are wearing masks. I paid for my groceries and before I walked out, realized i didn't get cake mix. I went back in to check and they didn't have any so I left out. He sees me coming for the entrance and I guess assumes I'm stealing. He lets me leave the store, then calls after me when I'm outside and asks for my receipt. I had nothing to worry about, plus I'm a Black woman and unfortunately racial profiling is common. I hand him my receipt, he walks back to the entrance and waves my receipt at the camera. I asked "who wanted to see it?" and he mumbles something inaudible. I ask again and he still isn't clear and I'm in a rush so I walk away. I sat in my car for an additional 5 mins to see if he checked any other receipts and of course he didn't. I will find a different location to patronize. I have to deal with enough systemic racial injustice...I can't tolerate it from a grocery store. read more

I LOVE this store. It is big and has a huge selection and their staff is always friendly and courteous! Makes me miss the one on 29th & Broadway in Oakland less (but they are also a favorite). In my last review, I gave this store 2 stars because a checker was playing Fox News loudly at the checkout stand. Fortunately, that hasn't happened again. With that blemish resolved, I can up my grade to 4 stars. This is a cleanest and best organized Grocery Outlet in the East Bay. The one in Oakland is just a mess--like the parking lot where I witnessed a car go up in flames, the surly workers and the general mess at the store. The one in San Leandro is trashy too. Not the Richmond store, which is reasonably well stocked and typically has good vegan frozen food (not a lot but they usually have Gardein products in the freezer). read more

Last Saturday, I had two items which I needed to check out. Each of the checkout aisles had shoppers with grocery carts filled to the top. If I had been at any other grocery store, there would have been an express lane for shoppers such as myself who needed to check out a few items without a needless wait. When I asked the store manager why there wasn't any express lanes, I was told that the lack of an express lane is a corporate decision. When I called the corporate headquarters, I was told that the lack of a express lane is a local decision. I have yet to hear back from either party with an explanation. If this is the way Grocery Outlet values my business, I will take my business where it will be appreciated. read more

My go to grocery store for almost everything for the past month. I only eat mostly fresh produce that is organic, minimally processed, sometimes local, and some wild caught seafood. I stocked up my superfood pantry n freezer with good produce and foods. Although 80% of the products they carry are non-organic, mass produce, but it's good for them who need to feed a big family! For a family of 2, I choose their organic produce and I never be disappointed. I tried different locations in the East Bay for different things. I no longer go to expensive supermarket anymore. I love me some Grocery Outlet! They always have good fruits and veggies. You can always find some crazy condiments or food you heard on chopped but never saw in real life before. A vitamin section with prices so low it makes you ask "are these okay?" (Yes, they are :). The ice cream section always has a surprise waiting for you. I found Brigadiero (Brazilian truffles) ice cream here and almost lost my mind. Milk and eggs (they have the jumbo eggs for under 3.50) are absolute bargains. Only a few things that bug me and I know could be corrected. The carts are beyond filthy. You have to check the dates on the food very carefully as you will regularly find items just days away from it's good by date. Or you'll find items past their expired date that they have marked down super low but don't point out that's why it's so cheap. Be mindful of that when making your purchases. Even with that, the employees here are pretty epic. They work hard. Have no issue helping you out. And when you go in you see the same people week after week which is a good sign to me. read more

I'm not sure quite when the Grand opening magic will happen, but many of us GO fans have been watching with anticipation as the new Richmond Grocery Outlet gets transformed from it's former weird Hacienda kitchty 60's stone exterior to somewhat of kitchy 60's but 'new' grocery store. This section of Richmond, just over the hill from the El Cerrito Del Norte BART, and across from the also new Planet Fitness, will be sure to be bustling with activity of all sorts. I'm a Grocery Outlet addict and try to explain to people why, but if you don't understand by now, you may never. Since relocating to Richmond, my go-to GOs' been the Pinole location. Which is fine, it's an okay store, but this new location with it's own parking lot will hopefully be more awesome. I hope they have a better garden and plant selection than the Pinole stores', which pretty much sucks. Grocery Outlet Bargain Market is THE SHIT!!! I love this place. This particular location (12010 San Pablo) is the best one. I go to Groc.Out nearly every day. There are some fantastic high quality organic products that they always have (like Running Pump Roasting brand coffee for $10 and Brad's raw food kale chips for $2.99) and they usually have an organic milk option like Humboldt creamery or Clover. They always have at least a couple imported or local organic cheese options. They usually have a good selection of frozen organic meals too, like Amy's kitchen brand frozen dinners, and they almost always have at least one cool ice cream option, like a random flavored pint of Steve's, Three Twins, or Ben & Jerry's. Best of all is the extensive and quality wine and beer selection. It really is a treasure hunt-- and one where the treasure is abundant. Of course, Groc. Out will not meet all of your food needs. Their produce selection is not impressive, although they do usually have at least one or two organic fresh veggies. The meat section is also pretty damn haggard. There are an ungodly amount of questionable pork products and sometimes just one or two organic chicken options. I've yet to find any fresh organic beef here. However for snacks, coffee, and booze, Groc. Out is my affordable go-to. Also, they are always playing 60s pop and soul music at a reasonable volume, which adds to the nice experience of shopping here, not to mention that the staff at this location are really friendly and cool people. read more

I love this Grocery Outlet, otherwise known as Gross Out in our house. It is new, clean, staffed with nice people and has a decent selection of products. Here are my tips for a successful Gross Out outing. 1. Check the expiration dates! Not joking about this. 2. Enjoy the golden oldies. Feel free to sing along. 3. Avoid visiting around the first of the month, unless you like long lines. 4. If you see something you like, stock up. There is absolutely no guarantee it will be there when you come back next time. Please refer to tip #1 if it is a soon to perish item though. 5. Things I look out for - organic milk, yogurt, cheeses, cereals, popsicles and ice cream, chocolate, wine and the occasional Aidell's sausages. I tend to avoid the produce section. However, I have found all kinds of deals in this store from a cupcake carrier to organic molasses. read more

I'm totally into this place, even though my friend calls it The Gross-Out. It's like the Marshall's of food. But everything is within its expiration dates, and they have an entire aisle of really great organic brands, including milk and eggs. Plus there's an aisle of housewares where I scored some amazing solar-powered string lights. The staff is super-friendly and every time I shop there I meet some sort of kooky character who also enjoys bargains. One day, I will go there and there will be no kooky character to brighten my day, and I will have to admit that that's the day I was the kooky character. Oh! Some have more room then others, so those that are smaller may 'go light' on certain catagories (such as 'pet food'). So why the light rating on this (relatively new, huge, and well stocked) clone of all their other GREAT stores: Simple: This store alone has the habit of placing items among the others WITHOUT a price. It may be a halloween item, it may be a certain yogurt, or Honeydew melons. The items are placed among very similar well marked items. It is only when you get it up to the checkout that you find they are two to three times the market price! BE CAREFUL shopping here; carefully set aside items that NO PRICE is posted, and pre-screen the prices on them, and reject them. read more

Grocery Outlet Assault Tonight on San Pablo near MacDonald- Richmond Fire, Ambulance and Police. This evening I had just began shopping at the Grocery Outlet and heard a man, a black man, loudly talking to someone about gangs of people beating up a black man inside to outside the store. Talking about how this type of behavior has occurred there before while he was shopping. An Indian lady videotaped the beating of this black man by at least 5 Latino men - the gentlemen who was shouting said - its like a gang - needless to say no one was arrested. I looked into the ambulance to see the man who had been assaulted: an older (60+) black man, grey hair, medium built sitting on the gurney. Sometime later a woman came to pick him up - I suppose he did not want to go to the hospital. I believe him when he stated this is not the first incident of this type at the Grocery Outlet. I gave my phone number to the lady, Julie, who videotaped the assault. Upon receipt I plan to post it on other media platforms - but not here. My suggestion is to inquire about this or these types of incidents whenever you visit Grocery Outlet next time. The owner is a woman and did not seem to care or inquire about the well being of her "customer" who had just been assaulted. More will be revealed as we journey into this type of aggressive behaviors toward Blackamericans. I like a bargain as much as anyone else, but I will now go to the Grocery Outlet in Berkeley or Oakland. I refuse to spend my money where I can't feel safe. read more

This is the new grocery outlet and my first of all the grocery outlets around the bay area. I would say the experience was good. I like that there were super affordable things, but be aware that things that expire (for example MILK) will need to be read because I came there 5/31 and their soy milk had a 5/29 date. This store has some really great bargains! I got 3 super huge ceramic planters for $50 each. The people there are very nice and some young guys loaded them very carefully into my car. I've checked out these kind of planters at several stores and I've never seen such nice ones for that low a price. Home Dept has some for around $65 but I think these are actually a little larger. I also got some great garden tools there for way less than anywhere else and a good brand name too, Black and Decker. They had a set of 2 different garden sprayers and 2 garden tools, for $10. I had just paid $15 for one sprayer just like it at a garden store. I check in there a lot since it is across from Planet Fitness, my gym, because they get seasonal things in and then they are gone. A lot of the food products stay the same but other items seem to arrive in smaller lots. I thought maybe the food items would be close to expiration but I haven't found that to be true. I a lot of snack food items I've never seen before so I think they get stuff that never worked out for the manufacturer and they are selling it out through here. But it is still not expired and some of the things I liked but a few I didn't. But it was fun trying them. read more
