Pleasant fast friendly service...replaced my capacitor in HVAC during extreme temps..thankful for their responsiveness & fair prices!

It's too bad you cannot post a review with negative stars, because that's exactly what I would have given this company of my experience doing business with the family that owns it. Not once in my entire life have I ever written a negative review of a company such as I am now constrained to post here. I am doing this in the fervent hope that anyone who is contemplating making an improvement to their home will learn from this review and avoid the pure hell I and my nextdoor neighbor have had to endure. I'll cut right to the chase: Groff Solar is part of the Groff Home Improvement group. It all started in June 2025 when I contracted with them to install a solar power system on my home. My nextdoor neighbor signed a contract as well the same week. We were promised that our systems would be installed by August. This was important because on December 31st the tax credit for solar would be going away forever. My estimated tax saving would be approximately $7,000. It was crucial for our systems to be installed by that date. Groff said "no problem." Unfortunately "problems" were all we were given. The first problem was PP&L's refusal to approve Groff's proposed system for our houses. We were told to expect a series of emails from PP&L throughout the process, but we never received anything. Telephone calls were made, but never returned. Texts and emails were ignored. When August turned into September I went to the Groff office in Willow Street and demanded some answers. It was then that I was told of the situation with PP&L. Three months had passed, nothing had been done and the Groff company had not called us to apprise us of the problem. We were now three months closer to the tax deadline. Long story short: my system was finally installed the day before Thanksgiving. It was another month before the borough and PP&L gave their approval. I was able to turn my system on Christmas Eve morning. My neighbor missed the tax deadline by ten days. His estimated tax credit was $6,000. Groff issued no apology, and still ignored texts, and emails. This company has no integrity and on several occasions told outright lies when questioned. There are so many reputable companies offer solar in our area, but Groff Solar is definitely not among them, and definitely should not be trusted. read more

We built our home in 2023 and used Groff's to install new heating and air conditioning. We had two separate units installed; one for the first floor and one for the second floor. Both heating units have failed both winters since we moved in and one of the air conditioning units have failed both summers since we moved in. I initially called Groff's but they denied any wrongdoing, blamed the issue on electrical and charged full price for fixing the issue. Most recently, we had to have our entire second floor system fully replaced because of an acidic burnout of the compressor. I reluctantly called Groff's to see if they would take a look at it. They charged me full price to have their technician come out to confirm what I already told them; that the compressor was blown. I asked if they would give me a price for replacing the compressor and they never responded except for calling me to ask me when I could pay $160/hour for their technician's visit. This is the first negative review I have ever posted, but I would avoid Groff's at all costs. Their brand-new systems have cost me thousands in repairs, and we build this home less than 3 years ago. First time using Groff's to fix a leak in our upstairs bathroom tub which was leaking thru the kitchen ceiling. They responded quickly and gave us a free estimate for repairs. There price was competitive and Vince the plumber fixed the leak. James then came a few days later to patch the drywall ceiling and install the cabinets. Both did a nice job and were very professional. The office staff was helpful also. Will not hesitate to use Groff's again. read more

Memorial Day weekend my HVAC unit finally let go after nursing it for some time. Reached out to Groff's and the process was seamless. Andre came out pretty quickly, their estimate came in that day, we agreed to the terms, scheduling was quick and we had a new unit installed. This process from initial call to finished product was less than a week. They also installed a new water heater. Frank and Garret, the installers, were champions. They were pleasant, professional and clean. No issues at all. Would definitely recommend. read more

I was over charged the work that I had done was half of I was that others would have charged me being a new home owner I was taken a few months later I had to hire another plumber to repair the work they did because of backing up by the washing machine drain this time I studied and read and it was done right with a tenth of what I was charged by grog heating and ac pluming will never use and will never recommend... read more

Very dissapointed. Cost $436 for new thermostat. Not a rush or weekend job. Sent 1st guy over paid $236 just for him to say my thermostat was programed wrong. Got worse after he left..2nd guy came said I needed a new thermostat $216. They accepted no responsibility for misdiagnosed first visit. They pretended to be concerned but as soon as check cleared ..never heard from them again. read more

Just had a new heat pump installed. Guys were really professional. The situation required some really creative duct work. The work was professional and had a look of quality. They answered all my questions. And they were nice to my dog. read more

Our air conditioner/heat pump was not working during a recent heat wave. After calling the company that installed the unit and after being told that they could not come over the weekend, we called Groff's. They came on a very hot, busy Saturday and repaired the unit by replacing a part and they offered some helpful hints on maintaining the unit. The service man was very thorough and kind. He even apologized for having to charge us extra for a weekend service call. I'd recommend Groff's Heating, Air Conditioning and Plumbing Inc. in Willow Street, PA. read more

I would love to give a service based review but cannot even get Groff's to return my phone calls. I have tried contacting them for three days in a row with no returned calls. On the third day I actually told the receptionist that I was not getting any returned calls and she put me through to a real person who told me that the service person I needed was in a meeting, but would call me back. Still no call back. The job I had for them was not a small one either. Guess I will be calling elsewhere. read more

I was in the process of getting estimates in december of 2010 and was referred by one of there customers.there salesman mike who was friendly and attentive to my request . told me due to the up and comming holiday he would get back to me after xmas well after waiting more than a month and 2-3 messages to them no return calls. Groff's called me back promptly when heat went out recently. They provided 2 hour window and called me on cell when they were going to arrive. Fixed thermocouple of furnace swiftly. Service technician was courteous and helpful. read more

Service fee/trip charge to check why my furnace wasn't working cost me $155. But, paid $239 after they added in the diagnostic review to determine I needed a new limit switch. They did not have the part on the truck so I was told they'd need to order and come back, which would cost me another $155 to come back! They installed the machine when my house was built 7 years ago and knew the make and model of the machine but did not have any parts. Ended up finding someone to install the $4 part and it cost me $50 for the labor and part together. I talked to management there about charging me for the second visit and was told that's one way they make money and those are just the costs they charge. Will not be using them again and do not recommend them because you will also feel scammed. read more

Do not use these guys!!! My heater when out in the middle of the night, I had a late night service call, they charge me a arm and a leg ($450) and didn't even fix the issue. I had to have someone else come in the morning to fix the issue and redo the work they did the night before. read more

I had a 4 year old water heater purchased from and installed by Groff. I had no hot water and called for repair. I was told the vapor sensor was broken and needed to be replaced. Since the hot water heater was under warranty, I had to pay for the labor, but not the part. I agreed. Bill: $119.00. The next day, I returned home to a basement full of water with the hot water heater putting out water from a tube. After service person came and examined, I was told that a different part was now broken and I needed a new hot water heater. I would only be responsible for labor since ity weas under warranty...No responsibilty that repair person was here day before and now I have a basement full of water. New hot water heater installed. Labor Bill: $669.00. Between two bills, I have spent almost $800.00 for a 4 year old water heater, that began to leak ONLY after it was repaired.... Discussed with owner who was unwilling to accept any responsibility for anything....Bottom line: Pay up....too bad about your basement damage. read more

We recently had central air conditioning installed in our old stone home in Wynnewood, PA. Groff's estimate for installing all of the necessary duct work, equipment and labor was less than half of Main Line AC/Heating businesses. The estimate was clear and straight-forward and they happily accommodated our work schedules and particular requests (to agree to repair any cracks or damage as a result of the installation, to take out and get rid of a huge old window AC unit, etc.) The installer, Matt, was highly competent and ably problem-solved when the inner-workings of our old stone house threw up inevitable challenges. I was sad to see him go at the end of the project. We are loving our central air and the experience we had with Groff's. Thank you, Mike and Matt! read more

One star only because I couldnt go lower.....a 2 1/2 week bathroom remodel is still uncompleted 3 months later. They installed the wrong vanity top, the wrong shower surround,I showed them exactly the correct granite to use they used something "Close" without my approval. They installed a tile floor with the incorrect or a non-existing pattern, and without the grout , and told me thats how it was made to be. We gave them the exact information of the flooring including grout and design. We ordered an oversized shower base so that we could have a bench seat in the shower, they forgot that detail and we got huge shower with no base. They did attempt to correct that with a "customized" bench that is not the same color as the wall surround, close but not the same. Numerous delays sue to "materual not being in" ie material never was ordered....I could go one and on but seriously DO NOT CONTRACT THEM. read more
