Beware of this place. Based on past experiences, I believe that the groomers are nice people, but we found the owner (Jennifer) to be extremely defensive, rude, and unkind when we had a problem after a recent grooming. Here's what happened: After our last visit, our dog came out of the groomer's with an irritated eye. We thought at first that perhaps some shampoo had gotten into her eye, but when we realized that she couldn't even open the eye we took her to urgent care. The vet found that her cornea had recently been scratched and said that the trauma to the eye had likely happened during the grooming. This was also our assumption, for the obvious reason that our pet was fine when we dropped her off and not okay when we picked her up. When my wife and I called the groomer to let the owner know what had happened, we were shocked at how she reacted. There was no "I'm sorry to hear that your dog's eye was injured, I'm not sure how that could have happened" or "we don't know what happened, but let's see what we can do to make it right" or anything remotely expressing sympathy or concern for our pet--just an angry, defensive rant in which she categorically said that there was no conceivable way the injury could have happened during the time our dog was in her groomers' care. I mean, come on, of course it is possible that it happened then--I'm sure that Groom has safety protocols and tries to be careful, but even the forms clients have to fill out state that "there is always the possibility an accident could occur." Our initial conversation was upsetting enough, but a minute after it ended, Jennifer called me back asking for the phone number of our vet's office so that she could talk to them. She said something like, "Vets are always blaming groomers." What?!? I didn't want her harassing our vet, but I said that I could forward her the paperwork from the urgent-care visit, and to that she said dismissively that vets will write down anything. Her reaction was over the top, and the level of hostility she expressed toward veterinarians was just bizarre. It would have been nice if she had at least offered to refund the cost of the grooming after we spent hundreds of dollars on an emergency vet visit, but we explicitly told her that we weren't asking for Groom to pay our vet bills, so all of this was a huge overreaction on her part. Dealing with Jennifer was very upsetting at a time when we were already worried about our pup. I hope that other pet parents don't have to experience the same insensitive treatment we received. Please think twice before taking your pet to Groom. read more

Groom does an amazing job on my Westie. They have knowledgeable breed-specific stylists. My little dog always looks great after his spa day. I should also mention that the personnel at Groom are friendly and very accommodating. read more

The owner called after I made my first appointment to go over the details, preferred cut, and to make sure we were prepared before I dropped Chloe for her session. Groom! did a really good job giving my scruffy dog her first ever hair cut. She came home looking like a totally different dog. I think next time I will ask that they leave her whiskers untrimmed but other than that we were happy with the cut. In the past I have hand stripped my dog's wiry coat but our main goal in deciding to go to Groom for a cut this time was to make it easier to see any ticks this summer and they definitely delivered for that purpose. read more

Jennifer and her team did an AMAZING job with my 5 year old Golden Retriever. I was running late for my appointment, but they were very accommodating and still took us when we could arrive! So we felt we needed an upgrade from the groomers at Pet Smart at Bethesda. We were constantly frustrated with the lack of professionalism, and just felt we needed a place that could provide a genuine, and pleasurable experience. After reviewing a few places, availability, and proximity to where we lived, we decided to go with Groom! Our groomer met us curbside, wearing mask, and following protocol. She was extremely polite, took the time to ask my daughter exactly what she wanted, and I felt 100% comfortable leaving my dog with her to get pampered. We received a call informing us Athena was ready to be picked up only hours after we had dropped her off. When we arrived Athena looked adorable! The attention to detail was noted, and the groomer even provided some grooming tips that have helped us tremendously. I simply won't go to another groomer ever again! I can't wait to return! The owner Jenifer and Groom staff are awesome!! My dog desperately needed to be groomed since the Pandemic caused many dog salons to remain closed. Jenifer was so helpful and she was able to schedule an appointment the following week. My dog has high anxiety and she hates getting her hair combed or brushed. My dog became matted because it was difficult to get an appointment during the Pandemic. It's also difficult to find a good groomer because my dog has arthritis and mobility issues. Jennifer and her team went above and beyond on our second grooming appointment. She came out to meet us at the drop-off spot since pet parents are currently not allowed in the salon. I really appreciate the consideration towards both employee and customer health during this time of social distancing. At pick-up, one of the employees provided an umbrella escort to the car because it was raining. The attention to detail and amazing customer service is just another example of how much they care. We became customers at Groom nearly a year ago and are now customers forEVER! What we love is that our dog does not have to be dragged in. She happily trots in and is not super stressed when she leaves after her grooming. And the results are never a disappointment. Jennifer's (who is the owner) husband Jeffrey has no business being a part of Groom; particularly not in a customer service role. I've brought my dog to Groom for the last couple of years, and have no problem with Jennifer; we have a good relationship. Her husband however has zero social skills, is rude, has incredibly negative energy, never smiles, is not friendly, and should absolutely not be in a position that deals with the public. The last time I was there in April, he wouldn't hand my dog over to me until I paid, like I was someone who couldn't be trusted, though I've been a longtime client, so I told him to give me my dog, who he had on the floor, holding him hostage behind the counter. Then when I couldn't figure out how to use the new credit card machine, I told him this, he was extremely rude telling me he was going to help me but I'd gone ahead and done it myself. I have dealt with his weirdness on and off the last couple of years and that day I'd had it. I was not in the best temperament so I yelled and cursed him out, out of ongoing frustration with his weird personality. Groom is within walking distance from me so against my better judgement I attempted to make a new appointment today for my dog. It was rejected. So I called (twice) because Jeffrey canceled the nail clipping appointment I made. The phone just rang and rang and rang. Saturday afternoon there's no reason to not pick up the phone. So I called with a different number, he picks up and proceeds to tell me he canceled my appointment, because of what occurred in April and that he told Jennifer. Who I never see in the shop anymore. I ask to speak to Jennifer and he tells me in his usual rude manner that she'll be in Wednesday. At no time did Jennifer call me to discuss what happened, and now her husband has taken the liberty to cancel appointments of a longtime customer because he has absolutely no ability to interact with human beings in a normal manner. The groomers there who take care of my dog are fine. Unfortunately I have to go through this strange man to get the service I need for my dog. I cussed him out, again, and hung up the phone. I never get this angry but anyone who has dealt with his guy can relate. Just like the reviewer below me. I'm taking my dog to a new groomer, but my advice is to not have your husband as a business partner just because you're married to him. Your company will continue to receive negative reviews and lose clients. Find an actual professional who has the personality to deal with human beings. *** I was messaged by Jennifer ( or Jeffrey using her name) and told that her and her husband have the right to "deny service to customers that are rude." They always listen to what we ask for, and he always comes out looking so cute - even when he is cut very short for the summer (which has not necessarily been the case elsewhere). My 7 year old Maltese had never been professionally groomed - I have always given him home haircuts. This morning, I took him to Groom and we both had a wonderful experience. I have a small dog (under 10 lbs.) and was terrified of him being surrounded by dogs 10 times his size. But Groom had a separate play area especially for him. I live in the neighborhood so I decided to give them a try. I have a small pup, 16 years old, blind, has many old lady bumps throughout her body and feet, and typically starts to tremor when we walk into the groomers, so I had concerns trying out a new place. I was met outside across from Papa John's, handed her over, and she was finished very quickly. Picked her up at the same location. My girl was adorable as could be with bows in her hair. She was trimmed exactly as I asked and care was taken around all of her bumps. The streamlined process was very easy. Price was comparable to other private and chain establishments. I have a Bichon that I asked for a groom with a fluffy, round cut. I even had a picture included. They called and said her mussel (nose area) was matted, so I okayed a lower cut in that area only. They said she was on the table all blown out & only mentioned her nose area. I went to pick up my dog & her entire body was shaved. You can see the pink of her skin. I was never asked if she could have her body shaved & I know she wasn't knotted because I purposely checked & brushed her before dropping her off. The point of a groomers is to professionally groom fur, not shave a fluffy dog out of pure laziness. I won't be back. read more

We have been brining our whoodle to Groom for almost three years. We've always been happy with the grooming. I have to give a nod to the owners - they are easy to work with and for the most part, have been able to get our dog in a reasonable amout of time.
