Gave Doreen all the special instructions - that she needs special, gentle care, that she hates to have her paws and face touched, that she can be difficult when stressed - snappy - even aggressive. Picked her up a few hours later totally transformed - sweet smelling - even a hint of a smile. Certainly glad to be back in my car heading home. Danielle is friendly and reliable and most of all - she does a great job. We always go with a short cut on our Maltese for ease of maintenance and Danielle's cuts are very consistent. Our dog always looks the same, which is a big positive in my book. Other groomers have delivered inconsistent looks when we simply wanted the same haircut. The convenience of the mobile service is hard to beat too. It's a little more expensive than service at a brick and mortar building, but it's worth it in my opinion. You won't regret going with this business for your furry friend's grooming needs. Maria is working with just one dog --yours--from start to finish--so it's way less stress for your baby. I should also mention that Maria is the best, kindest, most competent dog groomer in the DMV. Full stop. If you have a small dog, don't even *think* about going anywhere else! Not only will your furbaby be gorgeously groomed, you will have the peace of mind of knowing he is being cared for by 1) someone who genuinely loves dogs, and 2) is also incredibly talented and experienced. Our last three visits have been frustrating, but this final experience was the breaking point. I brought my Border Collie in with very specific, detailed instructions for a "pet trim" to improve her comfort and hygiene: Detailed scissoring and blending on the legs to avoid blunt, choppy cuts. Thinning shears to reduce density on her tail while maintaining the "flag" look. A "tunnel belly" and sanitary trim for cooling. Instead of the skilled scissor work I requested, they took the absolute "easy way out." They finished her entire grooming in 30 minutes (it usually takes an hour), and when I picked her up, she had been shaved to a 1/8th inch "puppy cut" all over. For a double-coated breed, this is devastating to their ability to regulate temperature. When I called to address this, they claimed I asked for an "all-over trim." In what world does a request for a blended, functional trim result in a total shave-down? To make matters worse, the staff member hung up on me, saying they were "really busy" and offered zero accommodation or apology for ignoring my instructions. It is incredibly disappointing to see a business treat a long-time customer with such blatant disregard. They clearly prioritize speed and high turnover over actual grooming technique and customer service. We will not be returning.

The gentleman on the phone was so helpful and informative and made it easy. When it came time to drop my dog off the staff were so friendly and kind, and they were extremely attentive and took detailed notes of all the items I brought with my dog and any of her quirks (e.g., severe allergies, doesn't play well with others, etc.). The space was so clean and large. I felt very reassured dropping her off as I went on vacation. When I came back to get her, the staff was helpful and, again, extremely kind and talked about her time there with details that were definitely unique to my dog. She was happy, healthy, clean, and well groomed. All of her toys and leash items were accounted for and they even ran a toy out to my car that they had forgotten in her kennel. With the pandemic, however, almost no one was offering cat grooming. Pat and Tom were able to get us in right away. Due to the amount of matting he had, they had to clip most of his fur. That part didn't surprise us. What did surprise us was how good they made him look. Our cat looks years younger, and is even acting much happier. I expect we'll be taking him back periodically from now on. Pat and Tom were friendly people, and were great with our boy. Tom gave us some good advice for helping avoid matting in the future. They do run the business out of the basement of their house. It's well equipped and has it's own entrance, but don't expect it to look like PetSmart. It's a genuine mom and pop small business, and one I would definitely recommend.

While I can acknowledge…read morethat they were punctual and did a decent job on my dog's fur, nails, and paw trimming, they completely butchered his face. I honestly feel disrespected. The facial cut is rough, uneven, and clearly done by someone who had no idea what they were doing. They either didn't listen at all when I said "not too short" or had no understanding of how a teddy bear breed should be groomed. They even cut off his beard -- one of his most defining and adorable features! I wasn't the one to receive my dog when he was brought back to the house, and had I seen him right then, I absolutely would have voiced my discontent on the spot. There's no way I would have paid the full amount, let alone tipped the groomer. This doesn't feel like a minor mistake -- it feels like someone with little to no experience was let loose on my dog's face. He looks like a completely different animal, and not in a cute or fresh-groomed way -- in a shockingly bad way. I feel genuinely sad and angry every time I look at him. This was such a violation of trust.

The nail trim didn't take as long as I thought, so I was even able to squeeze in a bath for one of them. Would visit Dogtopia again for grooming services, just wish they were a tad closer to us. The location is a little difficult to find, so just make sure you follow the signs posted on top of a couple buildings as your navigation will probably take you elsewhere. There is a very poor dog to staff ratio and has been a series of terrible management of incidents…read more We had previously used Dogtopia for all of our boarding needs over the last 3 years whenever we traveled but during our most recent trip our dog was bit during his first day of what was supposed to be a 3 night stay. The staff downplayed the severity of the wound and kept trying to get us to dismiss it as an accident. According to the emergency vet they dropped our dog off at, it was a very deep bite, not evidence of a typical accident. Our dog needed staples and a drain inserted in his neck. Upon telling a staff member and their manager about the severity of the injury according to the vet, neither person expressed any sympathy for our dog and instead quickly gave us the rehearsed line about the liability waiver we signed. We understood Dogtopia wasn't liable, but their contract says owners are liable for any damages their dogs cause to staff or other dogs. I hope that they don't allow the dog that did this back to Dogtopia, but I have my doubts due to the answers we received. They ultimately ended up paying the nearly $1,000 emergency vet bill themselves but only after my wife and I persistently followed up. We did receive an apology from the manager but at that point their lack of sympathy and unwillingness to acknowledge the severity caused a lot of stress and hurt. I truly hope they are able to give their staff more training and show more love for the dogs who attend their daycare.
