12/23/24 I consistently use Groome for my shuttle needs to Columbus or to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta airport. I visit the state of Georgia at least four times a year to visit family. Groome service has been excellent this far. I have not had any issues with any of my rides. They have been reliable and invaluable to me. read more

Contacted the Dispatcher because the flight was delayed 20 minutes and it would be 3 hours before their next shuttle run. The dispatcher assured me the driver will not leave without calling Me. No one called! I made it to the pickup point at 1:20 am it was scheduled for 1:15, no shuttle. I called and she made all kinds of excuses. VERY BAD AND UNRELIABLE SERVICE!!! Here is the background: I booked two tickets for a trip from Atlanta to Chattanooga on 05/24/2023. On the day, the bus was scheduled to depart at 7:15 AM. My group arrived at the designated spot at 6:50 AM, well ahead of the departure time. However, to our surprise, the bus did not show up until 7:40 AM. During this extended waiting period, I had to urgently use the airport restroom. Unfortunately, while I was inside, the bus arrived and, according to my friend who was still waiting at the spot, the driver refused to wait for us and departed, even though I was merely 3 feet away from the bus, and shouting loudly behind that "I am here!". Later, I called the office to express my frustration and seek a resolution. However, the customer service representative refused to offer any form of refund for the inconvenience caused, saying that the management decided that the bus driver arrived on time and is of no obligation to my loss. I have outlined all the problems in this chaotic process below. These can all be checked by the airport surveillance videos, recorded customer service conversations, and the payment records: 1. The bus did not arrive on time, which clearly violates the rules set forth by the company. It is unjustifiable for anyone to retain customers' payment for a service that was not provided as agreed upon. 2. When I contacted the customer service, I was shocked to hear that the bus supposedly arrived on time and thus bore no responsibility for my loss. Again, how could you outright lie when the surveillance footage can clearly prove the bus was late? Additionally, there are airport staff who were witnesses to the entire incident. 3. There payment system is highly questionable. They request tips during the reservation process. Although I had reservations about making an upfront payment without experiencing the quality of their service, I still decided to tip 20% of the bus fare due to my understanding of the demanding nature of the profession from my previous work experiences with many long-haul drivers internationally. However, the quality of service I received fell far below the minimum expectations. At the very least, they should refund me for the tipping portion of my payment. I have to post my experiences here! Very disappointed in Groome. I was on time and observing the pickup area. I called the company to get an ETA (phone was never answered). I literally saw the shuttle for Macon pull in do a slow drive through the pick up area, and as I walked outside to meet them they went around a van and drove off. NEVER STOPPED the vehicle. Now I am having to change my appointments due to the fact that the driver failed to pick up customers. I was a bit skeptical about using this service to get to Atlanta airport but I'm glad I didn't listen to the low rating reviews! My boyfriend dropped me off in the morning for my 7 am shuttle pickup. I was dropped off at the main office in Columbus. The office is small but has seating and restrooms. They are opened 24/7 and the staff is nice and friendly. The ride to the airport is a direct trip from the office. There are no in-between stops which is great! Some of the drivers are sociable while others just drive and that's ok. It was also easy to find them on my return trip. Once you walk out the arrivals you will see them waiting across the street. Booking can be done online or by phone. They have different pick up locations. If you can't get on the military base for pick up, schedule for the main office. Happy Travels! read more

I came to try and get a spot on the shuttle but they didn't have one for me, so I'm thinking I to have drive and park my car. We were stopped due to an oil collision for two+ hours and I had to exit the vehicle to walk to the nearest exit (1-2 miles) to book an Uber. However, the driver--Marcus--ensured I was safe, provided hand sanitizer when everyone needed to relieve themselves in the woods, and went above and beyond ensuring we were informed about the collision ahead/expected delays. Have used groome multiple times from ATL to Columbus and have never had a bad experience. Staff is friendly and the shuttles are always clean. The only negative would be the no refunds for cancellations even if cancelling well in advance. You can get a credit for a future ride but not a refund. read more

I use Groome pretty frequently when I'm visiting home (Georgia), it's always a pretty smooth transaction when paying online. (Tip Pay Online it's 10$ cheaper) Over the years the prices have gotten higher while the service has gotten lower. I've had a couple of trips that weren't the best but it's convenient so I guess thats how they get over on charging so much. PRO's - It's convenient CONS - Drivers can be rude, I had a driver who kept swerving while driving, they can be late but if you are late they will probably leave you. read more

8/16/2021 7:30 pm shuttle from Phoenix airport to Flagstaff NAU campus. The shuttle was 2 hours late with no notifications what so ever. I had to call in to find out about the delay and was told the shuttle would arrive at 8:30 pm which in reality turned into 9:30. Once again no communication. We arrived in Flagstaff at midnight... First I was told that the reason for the delay was because the power was out, then that there was traffic, then came to find out that we purposely left 2 hours late because we were waiting for others that would have missed the shuttle? Additionally, to add insult to injury while at rest stop, the driver starts to leave without me in the van. Never did the driver show any condolences for the tardiness or for when he was about to leave me stranded in the middle of an Arizona rest stop. All he said to me was, "where were you?" Instead of taking any responsibility for almost leaving a paying customer behind after already being 2 hours late. Granted I was at the gas station within view. I am extremely displeased with the experience and would personally suggest the driver be notified of his lack of professionalism from start to finish. Starting with the pick up being 2 hours late and then saying "are we having fun yet?" at arrival. Ending with during the bus stop break somehow shifting the blame to me when he was going to leave me stranded if I had not flagged him down. This was a van of a total of 6 people where 1 missing passenger would be pretty obvious. I would like restitution/refund for this above horrid experience. I hope the situation is clear and regret that I had such an experience. I'm currently on a groome shuttle so I'm in a good place to write this I think. One star because I think I'm going to get from one place to the next. If they had 0 stars, I'd give them a 1. I'm an average sized 140lb woman and I am so wedged in here like I'm a pretzel. It's literally worse than a plane. This has something to do with a very obese driver that I ended up behind. Which I dont care at all about, but not making sure anyone can use this seat if the driver is all the way back is a van failure. It was OK when I thought they'd have a covid policy of a seat, but nope. Sardines. I have a chronic back condition and I'll be in pain for days. I'm writing this partially to try and take my mind off how truly uncomfortable I am. As someone who was more comfortable on a five hour plane ride and sitting on a curb for two hours. OH yeah, did I mention over 30 minutes late? Asked another driver. Apparently they have no way to check on other drivers. So those of us who were here put our bags in the back and got in. Which was left wide open and she just left a few times. I'm actually concerned my laptop will be missing when we get there. Or broken. Pretty sure I felt bags being tossed. Then we waited another 30 minutes for some people in the wrong terminal. Because apparently NOW the drivers can communicate. Stop and go traffic happens, but do we have to be a foot from the bumper of the car in front of us before we break? I'm gonna get whiplash. I am literally sitting here right now regretting this decision so I can't think of a more honest time to write a review. And booking a rental car for my return trip because you couldn't drag me kicking and screaming back on this van. Seriously, I'm about to confirm with enterprise. I have used Grooms twice now and both were great experiences. They pick you up at there Grooms location and drop you off there as well. The first time I used it was coming into Georgia, the rental car company I had booked with had no cars, and I was an hour and a half from my hotel. My hotel suggested that I reach out to grooms, which I did and I was on the next van to my area. When I was heading home I called them, because they were so great the first time and the nice lady and mentioned that I would save money by booking on line which I did. On the morning of my cab was running late and I thought I was going to be late, they explained that they have to leave on time, but I could move to the next van which was 30minutes later (which would have been fine but I was on time) the driver was nice and an all around great experience. read more

My wife used Groome Transportation while visiting her parents in Minnesota. Very unreliable and unprofessional. May seem like a bargain but anything but. Driver didn't show at pick-up so she had to ask a family member to get her to the next pick up location. No apologies, just excuses. I called Groome to book a shuttle to CSU for my daughter from Denver. This is her first year going away to college from Chicago and her first time traveling alone, so she was nervous. I asked Olivia, the person I spoke to on the phone, if she could be dropped at her dorm and she put me on a very long hold while she talked to dispatch and assured me she could be dropped at her dorm for an additional $13. They did charge me the extra fee and dropped her 20 minutes away from her dorm, which she had to walk in the snow and freezing cold, with a terrible stomach ache and lugging 2 suitcases. I would like to know how they would feel if their child was treated like this. I will make sure to let everyone I know, and social media what a rotten company they are. read more

My ride was actually early- but left on time- he did not even introduce himself. When I asked his name, he said it was Derek. I got picked up from the Orlando airport- headed to the Villages, Fl. on Sept. 12, 2022. He never asked to see an ID, just asked for my name. I was alone when he picked me up, then he said he had to go to the bathroom, then to the other side of the terminal to see if there were others waiting. There was an empty bottle someone had left in the back of the front passenger seat- and his garbage can was full. Otherwise the car was clean. Since I was alone with Derek in the car, and he barely spoke to me, I felt very uncomfortable. I asked if he had my address and he said " Yes." Nothing else- He had the radio on low- which was fine. The A/ C was blasting and as stated before- it was really uncomfortable because he didn't talk the whole ride ( 1 hour) to The Villages. Also, I missed the last van at 11:30- bc my flight was delayed. I wasn't happy that I had to wait until 4:20 am to get a ride home. Intold Derek I had a flight delay and had to wait 4 hours for this van, and he said " that's not that bad." Right.... I've always had bad experiences with Groome transportation in Columbus, GA but I was desperate to go home since my flight to Columbus was delayed more than ten hours. This is the second worst experience. (Reference the worst experienced reviewed three years ago). I had a reservation for a specific time, I checked in with the driver and he confirmed my seats and reservation. Inconveniently there were people sitting on the van without a confirmed reservation for the time I had booked. The driver called his boss and was told that the individuals not on the original manifest was okay to stay on leaving me without a seat. I don't understand the point of making reservations if your seat is not reserved. I don't blame the driver, it's not his fault. But I do blame the management. Never have any issues with the drivers, but always have had issues with the business/management. I always try to fly to Columbus before riding with Groome simply because of their poor quality of service. read more

We are currently in the middle of the coronavirus outbreak, and my husband is getting home today from a trip he took before things got bad. He was scheduled to take a Groome today from the airport to home. I called Groome to see how crowded the shuttles are and was informed they're running FULL because Groome cut the number of trips in half due to fewer flights. So instead of taking a financial hit like everyone else in America and running shuttles at a lower capacity for a couple of weeks to protect their passengers and drivers, they cut the number of shuttles and *pack their customers in like sardines.* This is awful, callous and extremely irresponsible. If you have ever taken a Groome, you know that taking a packed shuttle in which every seat is full is a miserable (and probably unhealthy) experience in the best of times. I have sat many times with the customer next to me plastered up against me, skin to skin, breathing down my neck and spewing droplets from their mouth as they talk on their phone. In the time of coronavirus that is unconscionable. Groome should be leaving a seat between each passenger at this time. I will be driving to Atlanta to pick up my husband because we don't want to risk him being crammed onto a FULL Groome shuttle during this outbreak. Groome should consider changing its policy now to do its part in the fight against this virus. And it should consider reducing the maximum numbers of passengers even after the outbreak for the health and comfort of its passengers. If Groome can't make a profit taking a reasonable number of passengers per shuttle they may need to rethink their business. It is not right to risk the health of your passengers and everyone they come in contact with due to greed/profits. read more

I feel that Groom should correspond with the airport to know of the delays of it's flights and to give it's customers enough time to make the connection since they have been paid in advance for the ride. Had to get my teenage son to University of Alabama. There were no direct flights and flying was also super expensive. A friend suggested we fly into Atlanta instead and take a bus, so...Googled and found Groome. They were reliable and pleasant to deal with, and it saved a ton of money. Atlanta airport is about 200 miles away, and Birmingham about 68 miles from the campus, but, since you have to change planes and there is often time wasted waiting for connecting flight, it didn't make much of a difference time wise. If you are traveling to Tuscaloosa, this seems like a very good alternative to flying into Birmingham. Anytime I called Groome they were responsive, helpful and courteous. Also the bus was timely both on pickup and drop off. He felt safe as well, which of course, is the most important thing! read more

I used Groome for the first time, and most certainly my last. The whole experience was absolutely terrible, minus my driver who was very kind. I made a round trip reservation from Columbus to Atlanta for the day before thanksgiving. I made the reservation on 11/26 and then called and canceled that reservation the same day because I was able to find a ride to the airport. Got the confirmation email of my canceled trip, didn't think about it again. Fast forward to Thanksgiving, I'm in Chicago, realizing that I need a ride home from the airport, so because of how highly recommended Groome is, I decide to book a trip from Atlanta to Columbus for the next day. Once again no issues. I get back to Georgia where the driver informs me I'm on his list twice, and I should probably speak with someone in the office when I get there. I then speak to the lady at the desk who is doing nothing but talking me in circles, explaining to me that my original trip was not canceled or refunded because they don't do "same day cancellations". But I didn't cancel my trip on the same day as my reservation, just the same day I made it, plus the fact that I got the cancellation email. The "manager" comes out and tells me they will fix it. A week goes by and I finally get a refund, for ONE WAY. So I call, and wait on hold for 30 mins, and finally get to speak to a person, who I explain the situation to, who then goes "oh I'm not touching this" AND HANGS UP ON ME! So I drive to the local Groome office to find out what was going on, to then be told that there was not a manager on premises and wouldn't be for another 45mins to an hour. How is there not a manager on premises at all times? So I was given a piece of paper with all of my info on it and was promised that someone would reach out. That was a week ago. No phone call. No email. No refund. I spent a total of $150 on a one way ride from Atlanta to Columbus. I could have Uber-ed for cheaper and probably should have. Your Columbus office does not care about their customers at all. I'm shocked you guys are still in business. I'm sure I'm not the only person this has happened to. read more

This review is subject to be updated depending on the outcome. I tried making a reservation this a.m. using my frequent rider ID. When I entered the number someone else's user name came up. I double-checked the number and the same thing happened. I called the number listed on the Groome website. Basically your options are reservation information or a recording saying go to the web site. There is no fraud or general customer information/help line, which strikes me as odd. In short, the woman I spoke with asked me for the ID number and she would pass it on to their IT Department to have them investigate. In the meantime - in my view - any stored credit card information is potentially at risk and available to the person whose name is currently listed under my ID number. The lack of sense of urgency and potential fraud seemed lost on the person I was speaking with. I asked for the number to their IT Department, but was told I couldn't contact them because they don't deal with customers. So their solution is for me to provide them with my phone number and wait for them to get back to me. Of course, I can always make a reservation not using my ID number, but that still doesn't solve the issue of why someone else's name is under my ID number. In this day and age, I don't understand how a company can function without a true customer service help number. I find this unacceptable, but my hands are tied. Short of paying to fly directly into Prescott this company is the only option from getting to PHX to Prescott. read more

I scheduled a ride with them and decided to cancel with more than 24 hours out. They told me that I had to cancel within 24 hours to get a refund which I did. They refused to refund my fee including the tip for the driver. Considering the tip is for the driver for good service, this was just an excuse for the company to keep more of my money. The woman actually told me, "We are not giving refunds at this time." What does that mean? We just decided today not to give you a refund. They said that I could use it within one year, but considering that I rarely need a shuttle, I will never get my money back! We are very disappointed in Groome Transportation. We had booked a reservation with Groome Transportationto be picked up in Minneapolis-St.Cloud, Minnesota almost a month in advance. 10 days prior to our departure, our plans changed and we had to cancel our reservation. I was told at that time that we would not be able to get a refund but could only get credit for one year. The person that I spoke to insisted that this policy was a national policy and and that it was on the website, and that only credit could be given. Later on, when I checked, this was not on the main page but was found only in FAQ. In other words, there was no way to find out about the policy unless you really researched the company.
