I had scheduled an appointment to have my dog's nails trimmed because she can be very difficult and requires sedation. I was told that if they were unable to cut her nails, more sedation would be required and possibly putting the dog under anesthesia. During the visit the doctor was incredibly rough and at no point did he stop to suggest that more sedation is needed. Once he finished cutting my dog's nails, I had noticed that her nail was bleeding at the base. I made the doctor aware, he took a look at it and he said "she would be fine and there's nothing to worry about." 2 days later as I'm walking my dog I noticed she was limping and found her nail to be completely ripped out and bleeding. Once I stopped the bleeding I called the vet immediately to make an appointment. I was told that I could not be seen for 4 days and that I would be responsible for the bill. They referred me to Garden State Vet. This is completely unprofessional and I am shocked that this is how they treat their customers. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

They still have not sent the soap notes over to the insurance company and we are going on a month after she was seen. Every day is another excuse! Now I will be going over to the vet in person to speak to someone. I will not be using them ever again. My other vet sent me the soap notes the minute I asked for them which I downloaded onto my insurance app and I got paid the next day.

Revisited the practice in Lakewood yesterday, Minnie was seen Dr. Weinberger. Rectal exam performed per my request due to my belief Dr. Dejohn may have been too aggressive on 6/29 with Minnie's anal glands. Dr. Weinberger clinical diagnosis was a UTI. Immediately upon arriving home yesterday after the appointment Minnie began having diarrhea, vomiting, and appeared to have blood in her urine. An antibiotic was offered at the appointment but at second thought I declined the antibiotic since no evaluation of her urine to support this diagnosis. My home is inundated with diarrhea, urine and couple of areas with weird looking vomit. I was told during the visit that Dr. Dejohn said Minnie had an abscess however this is untrue as no communication, verbal or in writing, exists discussing an anal gland abscess on 6/29/26. I just called Fischer Blvd location and was told to go to an emergency veterinarian. In all honesty, I believe the right thing to do would be for me to bring Minnie in this morning to Fischer Blvd. Yes- I was upset yesterday, but not to the point that would justify Dr. Weinberger refusing to further examine Minnie, harshly exiting the exam, threatening the police on us, and being thrown out of the office. I now have to figure out how to make this right for the sake of Minnie's health. I fear Minnie's short lived life of only six is upon us. Minnie is a rescue, unfortunately I cannot attest to her exact age.

They are forcing me to wait through the weekend until Monday just to speak to the specific employee who made the mistake. They completely refused to handle the issue themselves, claiming they didn't want to "get in the middle" of what was already said. ​Leaving a cat registered to a stranger leaves him completely unprotected if he gets out. To make matters worse, they openly shared another client's name and pet details with me due to their clerical incompetence. Now removed (thanks to specialists at Garden State Vet), and with careful monitoring, she is doing great. We've relied on Allenwood's team for her regular care and advice as medication became complicated and her response to it not always easy to manage. They stay in touch with her oncologist for check-up results, which is amazing. And we've taken advantage of their Care Club - well worth it. A few weeks ago, I discovered a lump near Maverick's ribcage (about the size of a gumball) that I initially thought could have been just a bug bite. However, after some diagnostic tests with Dr. Lapaglia, and additional x-rays with Dr. Day, it was unfortunately revealed to be a malignant mast cell tumor. I'm now thrilled to share that two days ago, Dr. Capodanno not only successfully removed the tumor, but also discovered and removed an additional mass during that same procedure! Due to the prompt action of all the doctors, further cancerous spread into Maverick's stomach and lungs was prevented, and we're now expecting a full recovery! Maverick has now been a VCA Careclub member for over 4 years and I still continue to be SO impressed with the level of dedication and expertise displayed by the entire Allenwood team. Even despite an influx of visits this month, Maverick still never hesitates to get in the car and still has a wagging tail walking into the building because he's always so happy and comfortable to see all of the staff. The care and professionalism of the entire team are evident from the moment you walk in and their genuine compassion and open communication surpasses any other veterinary facility in Monmouth County -- there's a reason many reviewers on google mention intentionally travelling the extra miles to Allenwood for their veterinary needs! There is ONE receptionist who has been there since the prior owner who needs a total personality overall and has been unreasonable on many occasions. She is cold, not sociable and has made a havoc out if appointments for me and basic requests that have stressed me and put my animals health at risk multiple times. If you can't smile, can't remember the same clients (humans and animals) for the last eight years, don't interact with any of the clients in a compassionate or even helpful manner, and then are rigid on policies that don't reflect well on the practice, your in the wrong business. I'm only giving this place two stars now because I love Dr. KELLY, Dr Sholan did right by all my animals, and the back office staff was always nice. Its enough where I am looking elsewhere for a vet. I am updating my review again due to an excellent experience with surgery with my one dog with Dr. Pante, the owner, whom I had no interaction with before. The overall point of my review is to better the practice. I also want to clarify two things that were discussed in the one to one meeting that is not reflected above by the office manager's upload, approved by Dr. Pante. First, when someone is running less than 10 minures late with no other appointmens that day, did it even need to be bumped up to a Veterinarian in question at that point? The question was brought uo by dr.pante herself. The consequence was not just a missed appointment but my dog had a severely broken tooth and needed immediate antibiotics. It took me a week to get those. Second point, it was told to be by Dr. Pante that when there are discrepancies with records, incomplete records or questions on records, that they often would reach out to the other vet offices. That did not happen in this case. So, I DO agree the phone call was too short to make any immediate decision. Most clients are not unreasonable. If I could feel I was helped in any manner, it would have made all the difference, even just trying. The conclusion of that was i drove back to the clinic, physically picked up the script, and uploaded it to another online pharmacy. It honestly left me with the feeling that the hospital didn't care, especially since i told her i was sick myself (i distinctly remember the phone call while i was at CVS pharmacy picking up meds myself for an eye infection)... ...There is no way those records could have properly been reviewed, as those individual clinic record visits are pages long with very small fine print, as an information specialist myself. At that point, I felt it should have been bumped up to an office manager, vet tech or veterinarian for a proper review. My last point about the person in question is that as a former psychologist, personality is one of the most stable and unchanging characteristics of a person. A person doesn't go from uninterested to suddenly compassionate.I would also take a look on another review on another site which is very similar to mine yet it mentions an employee who worked under the prior vet is compassionate although their own experiences showed less than that. Just do better, is my point but personality aside, clients first and last stop is often at reception and it can overshadow good veterinarians and the rest of the helpful staff. Being helpful or at least trying is everything for the owners as pets lives are at stake here which is why I took it upon myself to get my dog immediate treatment in both circumstances when there obviously could be no resolution.There is also a relationship and trust that establishes with long time clients and medical practices. I don't like the feeling that when I walk in there after years of visits when i see the same faces, that it feels like my first time and there is 'no history', when there should be plenty of trust building and rapport that should naturally develop over time. Strange on many levels, as Vet practices should feel like second homes. I do in conclusion get the impression, that Dr. Pante is very hands on, has a lot of common sense and compassion herself, and that this will improve moving forward as she I can see strives for the best in her practice.
