My dog has never been groomed, but figured it's going to be a hot summer so she may need it. Asked that her eyebrows and ears be kept long and that she get a medium length all over. Eyebrows were cut and her ears are very uneven and her hair is short everywhere else. And it was expensive. read more

Shaved my dog instead of truly grooming-after I specifically asked for her not to be shaved. They claimed she was matted, but had been recently groomed elsewhere multiple times with no issues. Ridiculously expensive. Never will Go again. read more

If I could give this zero stars, I would. Extremely overpriced. The grooming cost is double than every other place and yet it always turns out awful. You're paying double for a below average grooming job. And the staff is incredibly rude, impatient, and cold. This place is down the street from us but I will happily drive elsewhere. First of all- I LOVE the name of this place! For years we would drive by and laugh hysterically just because of that. Now, I drive by and I want to take my doggie back there- he never looked better. I know nothing- absolutely nothing about dog groomers since I have always owned a short haired dog. But now that I have inherited Max Moo- the Australian Shepherd (aka: Hairy Bastard) I begged my husband to take his dog there. He said that he would buy- if I fly. Fair enough... So, I dropped him off in the AM, and picked him up in the late afternoon -thank you for the free Doggie Daycare! (not really but...) but boy did he look handsome when I came to pick him up! If we could afford to do this every month- we would. But, alas... he looks like a shaggy shit-bomb again. read more

Super GREAT grooming visit. I have three cats. Yes, three cats. Many groomers will not groom cats or have very inflexible schedules for cat grooming. After several phone calls to other groomers, I came across Groomingdales. Excellent customer service on the phone, and they really made me feel like they wanted to groom my kitties. My little guy had never been groomed professionally before, and they made me feel confident that they would use their best judgement. If a pet is just too scared, it's time to stop grooming and you need to trust your groomer will know that. My three cats were able to walk around the office area and get out of their carriers, making them feel more comfortable and curious in that cute kitty way. Each had their nails clipped and good brush out and ear cleaning. I wasn't pressured into additional services that often cats do not need. My oldest guy is a big boy, and needed a lot of grooming. He of course wasn't happy but the groomer new exactly how to handle him, and as importantly, when to say he's had enough. The assistant held him and gave lots of attention and loving to the cats during their grooming to help calm them. Overall it was a great visit. They looked good, and they weren't too mad at me when we got home :) I'll be visiting Groomingdales once per month in the future and I will recommend this groomer to the cat owners out there. The price was also very reasonable for the effort and caring put into their visit. read more

Poor customer service. Just to arrange the initial meeting for our dog to board at Groomingdales was incredibly confusing. First I was assured that one time was fine. Then, at what I thought was the confirmation call, they cancel. When it was time to reschedule, they told my husband to bring her on Tuesday at 9:30. While I had the dog in the car and en route, they called to tell me to bring her at 10:30. When I brought the dog in, the receptionist quibbled about the time-- not greeting the dog, and not greeting me. And this was all in the name of meeting the dog! DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! I should've known when my super friendly/happy Bichon started shaking when I took him there this morning for his grooming appointment. I moved back to the area in May and my Bichon desperately needed a hair cut. Sadly, we left his amazing groom back in San Diego :( Many people told me NOT to go to Groomingdales and based on their website pictures I was very unimpressed. However, all the local grooming salons were booked so I ended up taking him there in May. I was told to only have the owner, Cheri, groom him. I have to admit she did a good job. I was pleasantly surprised. She scheduled me for another appointment in August (that was today). I dropped my dog off and when we started walking toward the door he started shaking and DID NOT WANT TO GO INSIDE! I thought it was weird because the only other place he has done that was petsmart 4 years before. He usually loves his groomer and they love him. Even Cheri told me what a wonderful and easy dog he was to groom back in may. I picked him up today and he didn't look very good. Bichons are hard to groom- they must be very well blended and proportionate. His head looked ridiculous but I did not say a word. I politely left. Then about an hour later, I was sitting with my dog and looked in his ears and they were both disgusting. His ears were filled with dirt and wax- which made me think they forgot to clean them. I had to call groomingdales anyway because I needed to change the date of the future appointment I had made. Cheri answered the phone and I first changed the future appointment date. I then asked if they cleaned his ears? She said, hold on let me go ask Alexa if they cleaned "her" ears (mind you my dog is a boy). So that urked me a little because I really hate when places don't remember you- despite the fact that I was there like 1 hour before. Then i also realized, "wait- my appointment was supposed to have been with Cheri, not Alexa". I specifically requested Cheri (the owner) and she was the one who made today's appointment." Cheri got back on the phone with me and said "Alexa said that the ears were cleaned, that they were really red, but they weren't dirty". I told her that they were disgusting, that i took a tissue to them and dirt came right off. I also asked her why she didn't groom my dog when I only came to groomingdales so that Cheri would groom him. She said there were no notes (even though SHE WAS THE ONE WHO MADE THE APPOINTMENT) and to bring him back to clean his ears. She was a little snarky with me on the phone. I figured it was because she was embarrassed that she messed up and did not own up to the mistake which I thought was extremely unprofessional. I then had to drive back to show them his ears- especially after the groomer said she cleaned them. She could have simply said that she had forgotten- no big deal. Instead she lied, so I had to go back. When i got there, Cheri took my dog, looked in his ears then said "his ears are completely fine, that is just pigmentation". I said, "what are you talking about? I just had a tissue in my car that i wiped in his ear and it turned brown". Then Cheri said to me, "well then...you must've done a great job cleaning them. Have a good day", trying to push my out of her shop. I was in shock! I took my dog looked into ears and used my finger to show her that dirt was coming off right in front of her eyes! She said to me "no...that is just pigmentation and you will irritate his ears". I AM NOT AN IDIOT. Please don't tell me that the brown ear wax/dirt on my dogs white ears is pigmentation. She kept saying, "thank you have a good day" still trying to get me out of her store. At this point, I was just so shocked. She is the owner! She did not try to apologize for the dirty ears, nor apologize for the scheduling mistake. Instead she made me feel like I was ridiculous and an unappreciated customer. In today's economy, I would think that a store would want to keep as many customers as possible. I was so angry with the way she treated me that I told her to cancel my future appointment because I would never be returning. Unfortunately, my dog looks awful. I am out $60. And I was treated very poorly. I WILL NEVER GO BACK AND HONESTLY, NEITHER SHOULD YOU! I was told there are other really great grooming salons in the area that actually care about your dog/you. I recommend The Sudsy Dog or Philly Dog Spot. Lesson learned: Listen to those people who tell you not to do something. Also listen to your dog when he is shaking/not acting like himself. EXPENSIVE!!! I took my collie and sheltie here for the first time. I was told on the phone my collie would be between $65 and $85. My sheltie I was told would be less than $35 as he only needed a brush out. My dogs get regularly groomed monthly at PetSmart. I usually pay $65 for the collie at Petsmart and $35 for the sheltie so I figured I would try them since their regular groomer was not available. I was just taken blindsided when they charged me $72 for my collie and $53 for my sheltie who didn't even get bathed. How is this possible when my dogs get groomed monthly? I inquired about the pricing increases especially for the sheltie and I was told he had a lot of undercoat and if he were bathed it would have been easier. I will NEVER return here. Honestly, the Sheltie didn't even look touched except for the hair trimmed on his feet. Furious at the owner because she said, Sorry but I can't make any adjustment on the price. She had a poor attitude. NEVER ever will I return. read more
