This review is LONG overdue! I've been taking my service alert dog to Rau now for the last year. I can say honestly I don't know why I did not start here, but gratefully I ended up here and will stay. My dog is a senior dog, 12years and 10 months. He's a Boarder Collie Mix. He's has some skin issues, GI issues and recently some joint issues. I saw Dr. Emily and most impressed with her vastly large CV dedicated to geriatric dogs. It's quite difficult to find a specialist in veterinary medicine in Geriatrics. What I was most impressed with was Dr. Emily treated the patient, not the disease! She took time to actively listen to my concerns, observed my dog and took a genuine interest in his history and detail of data before presenting treatment options. My previous Veterinary Hospital would have NOT done this. There comes in point in animal medicine where you must treat the symptoms and make you dog as comfortable as possible to live his geriatric years as best as possible, without un-necessarily potentially compromising their system. I'm grateful for Dr. Emily and her compassion to geriatric animal medicine, her compassion for the soul and spirt of her patients. And her genuine interest in the health and welfare of her patients. I would STRONGLY RECOMMEND Rau and Dr. Emily to any Fur Parent who wants the best for their Senior Animal. Respectfully Submitted, Bo-Buddy

I am giving them one star because I can't put no stars. About a week ago my dog is scheduled for a dentistry. She had to take 17 teeth out because of abscesses etc. She was not sent home with antibiotics. Four days later her eye swelled up. I took her back to Rau and they sent her home with antibiotics. But it was too late. Her I started to get worse so I took her to Metropolitan veterinary Hospital where they ran a CAT scan and there were teeth root fragments exposed. The abscess she had in her mouth went behind her eye. Which made her blind out of that eye and the only way to get to the abscess was to remove her eyeball. Thankfully they're paying for all her vet bills. But I don't want this to happen to anyone else. Them paying the bills does not bring my dogs eye back.

I just called Rau to make an appointment for my dog, and they told me to find another vet because they were too busy.

We are so grateful that we can rely on them for our 2 previous cats. We have specific feeding instructions for them and I appreciate that everyone follows as requested. Importantly, they also try to engage with the cats (who are usually pretty scared) and treat them with love and care (and leave them treats). They also take pictures so we know they are being cared for. We know our cats don't like it when we're gone but we're glad we can rely on The Pet Nanny. I strongly recommend them their pet services.

I left my dogs with Sarah Moureau at forpawsphilly.com in July 2023…read more I had originally signed up for a long weekend - three nights. I was a little dubious given the state of her house and yard, both of which were in a high state of neglect. But I was desperate for that weekend, so I dropped them off on Friday. The weekend turned rainy, so I let Sarah know on Saturday evening that I was returning early and the dogs would not be staying over on Sunday nite. I arrived home on Sunday at 11am and called to pick them up. Sarah informed me that she would be home at 3pm and I could get them then. Later, she asked for 3:15. When I arrived at 3:30 ish, she was just getting home. Obviously, she was not home most of the day Sunday to care for the dogs, which is what she was being paid for. She later sent me a bill for the whole 3 overnights amount, $300. When I called her to dispute this, she claimed that I hadn't given 24 hour notice, which I had. But she also became very argumentative. I told her she could have $300 with a review or $250 without one. She did not respond to this and a couple of weeks later, after not hearing from her, I tried to pay her through her website. The website was not working, so I sent her cash through PayPal. I added a note that I was paying this way because her website wasn't working. I still did not hear back from her so I eventually called PayPal to be sure she had received the money, which she had. A couple of weeks later, I received my AMEX bill and saw that she had already billed AMEX for the full amount. And she took the PayPay money as well. Responsible? NO. Flexible? NO Honest? NO I would never recommend this business nor this caretaker. I would worry about her house falling apart and no one being home with the dogs. And I had to block her from calling or texting me. Buyer beware.

It's important for me to make progress with my dog, so I Googled alternate options and stumbled upon Alex's page. I called him on a Friday and he picked up the phone right away. We spoke for a while about my needs and he came out the following Tuesday for what was supposed to be a 2-hour visit. I fell in love with him immediately, he is not only so personable and likable on his own, but he really takes the time to LISTEN to what you need and work on those things right away. I had mentioned my priorities to my previous trainer, but I found that she was teaching my dog commands that didn't actually accomplish what I was after. In our first meeting, Alex worked on SO MANY of my priorities. He got my dog to go into her crate on command, taught her to "stay," showed me how to "walk with" my dog better on her leash, and (using a 30' leash outdoors) started working on recall with her. We were so immersed in what was going on that Alex started to go a little bit over our time, but he didn't want to stop because we were making such great progress. I told him if he wanted to give me a third hour right then and there that I was prepared to pay for it, and he did!! I learned a lot of things from Alex myself during our first meeting, like how to employ the use of "deltas" (which my old trainer never once mentioned) and how non-verbal cues are arguably more important than verbal ones. Again, my old trainer actually discouraged me from using hand motions, but once incorporating them into my routine I noticed that my dog was much more compliant than she had been. Another positive difference between my old trainer and Alex is he really takes the time to teach you why he's doing what he's doing, and encourages you to participate. My old trainer just taught my dog a command and had me replicate/practice when she left. Alex really makes you feel like you are a part of the teaching process. After our private session Alex recommended some "Small Group Therapy" for my pup. He came at noon on a Thursday to pick up my dog and she proceeded to go on a several-hour outing with his two chihuahuas and a dog he was fostering. The entire time he was out with her he was recording and sharing videos on an iCloud album. It was INCREDIBLE to not only see everything that was happening, but to hear him narrate why he was doing the things he was doing. I could not get enough of his videos and felt like I was there during the session. On top of Alex's excellent communication, punctuality, reliability, friendliness, competency, and effectiveness, his rates are OUTRAGEOUS in the BEST way! I truly believe he is under-charging for his services. I can get three hours with Alex for less than I paid for one hour with my prior trainer, and I feel much better about the work that is done during that timeframe. I adore Alex, and most importantly, what he is doing works. He really gets into the mind of your dog, and has such a wonderful way of connecting with them and their needs. I am elated to keep our work going - my pup has lots more Small Group Therapy outings in her future and it's wonderful that I have the option to use him one-on-one to teach her even more commands in the house. One day I hope to move on from essential commands to more fun ones, like "roll over" or "go get X toy."
