Our waitress was super nice and explained the menu and specials since it was our first time there. I got the Apollo Dipper and my partner got the Big Dipper, per our waitress recommendations. This restaurant has re-opened and is newly remodeled. It definitely has a modern look. I do like the remodel. However, it did lose the atmosphere it was known for. The hanging airplanes, newspaper tables, etc.. are things my kids miss. The food is still great as ever. I recommend my wife's salad or their famous STP dipper. Definitely get the 45 sauce. The service here since the remodel has been top notch. The manager appears to be going over and above for the customers. I plan on going back often. read more

I love the Groucho's at 5 Points because it brings back great memories throughout the years. The restaurant was SO clean and even though they were very busy, the staff were all extremely attentive and just so pleasant. I got my food within 5 minutes of ordering and it was delicious as always! Formula 45 sauce is a must try if you've never experienced it. STP dipper is my favorite sandwich, but honestly you can't go wrong. Never had a bad experience at any location, and food always tastes fresh. Also, their sweet tea is must try! Grouchos is always a great lunch option. I've eaten at this location several times and the service has always been excellent! The food is consistently great (the STP Dipper is the best). The value of the meals is also great and much less than other restaurants in Forest Acres. The owner is always friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this Groucho's. read more

I stop by this Groucho's often enough to make a great review for you guys They are awesome.... Let me just say this....Free Cookie!!! You get one after your transaction. I didn't take the last one offered to me but they are deelish! I love their salads but hate that they don't have onions!!! I lovvvveeee onions. Ok, well, now let me get on to the rest of the review. When you walk in, you seat yourself. The waiter/waitress will come to you. I've had their sandwiches and such before but I stick to the turkey salad. I don't eat pork so this is a good choice for me. I also don't eat tomatoes so I get this salad without tomatoes but get their homemade ranch dressing that is hands down thee best in the whole wide world....yup, I said it! Flavor is spectacular but portion size isn't what my husband was craving. The special sauce is yummy and the luncheon meat is good quality. The chicken chili soup is too vinegary in taste - imagine a chicken ketchup soup maybe? My peanut butter and jelly sandwich was a bit disappointing. My kids kept raving about this place. Tried it. It's plain and nothing exciting. It does give me the heebie jeebies that employees use the same glove to take orders, take money, handle non-food items and not change their gloves. I mean even without COVID you should be changing gloves before handling food - should be even more so now. Two occasions where I went and saw the same thing. This used to be one of my favorites. My family came in today and it was empty. We waited about 10 minutes for our drink order to be taken even though servers passed us multiple times. We finally ordered our drinks and food at one time. Our drinks came but our food took forever. People who came in after us all had their food. Groucho's a good place to grab a bite to eat if you're in Columbia. The menu is just large enough to let you have a little freedom but not overwhelming. The food arrived quickly and it tasted good. I don't think you could really go wrong with anything on the menu. The service could be better though. The workers wanted to talk and be more friends than servers, which led to everyone in our party to go thirsty. The 45 sauce is good and the food is solid. What's not to like at Groucho's??? Their 45 sauce is great! Their sandwiches are wonderful, delicious, the service, even on USC parents weekend is spiffy quick and the prices are very reasonable. Signage says they have been around for 70 years in Columbia?!?! Went in on Saturday for lunch prior to the rush. I had to try their STP Dipper with 45 sauce. For under $8 this sub sandwich packs a lot of flavor and leaves you wanting more. From the menu this is an "Extra special blend of roast beef, turkey, Swiss cheese melt and real bacon crumbs on a fat sub roll. Served with your choice of Formula "45"™ or Danish Bleu™ Dip. Served with pickle, chips, and a fresh baked cookie." The cookie and chips are also good. Though I don't understand if they make and package their own chips why bother with the packaging... just serve the chips in the cute basket along side your sub. I would come back for the sandwich and chips. Service was good. Waitress was tentative and kind. The place was clean and the employees looked happy. The forest drive location is not a very good location the service was horrible. Customer service is dead at this location. They got my order wrong and when I brought it to their attention the person tried to blame me for their mess up, they were not busy either and the staff were very narcissistic and immature brats with a piss poor attitude, I witnessed several people leave not happy from this location. One couple asked the staff several times for service only to be ignored. The staff then went on to act like children. These girls working there at one point became confrontational to a customer who all wanted was to order his food. I know the pandemic has really been bad for the small business owner but now you have lazy immature brats who really don't want to work but just collect a paycheck be really nasty to customers who all they want is a nice dining experience. I personally was appalled by this in that having grown up here in Columbia I have never witnessed this at Groucho's of course I am referring to the original location in 5points. I would never recommend this place until they fix the multiple problems they have going on at this location. This restaurant is not a good value for the dollar. My sandwiches were mostly bread and very little meat. Do not eat here please there are other places to give your business to where your dining experience will be way more enjoyable. read more

I had a lunch togo. I got the stp dipper with no bacon and added lettuce and tomato. Also got potato salad, chips and a cookie. Honestly I think everything was way too salty. Sandwich was good but if I didn't take the bacon out, I feel like my daily sodium intake would of been maxed out. And the chips did not help with that. Potato salad was a little disappointing. Usually when I order potato salad I expect chunks of potatoes. This was more of small tiny diced potato (it was almost like eating cold mashed potato). So you get a lot more mayo/mustard combo with each bite. Cookie was just a regular chocolate chip cookie nothing spectacular. I'll give this place another chance this week. read more
