The forest drive location is not a very good location the service was horrible. Customer service is dead at this location. They got my order wrong and when I brought it to their attention the person tried to blame me for their mess up, they were not busy either and the staff were very narcissistic and immature brats with a piss poor attitude, I witnessed several people leave not happy from this location. One couple asked the staff several times for service only to be ignored. The staff then went on to act like children. These girls working there at one point became confrontational to a customer who all wanted was to order his food. I know the pandemic has really been bad for the small business owner but now you have lazy immature brats who really don't want to work but just collect a paycheck be really nasty to customers who all they want is a nice dining experience. I personally was appalled by this in that having grown up here in Columbia I have never witnessed this at Groucho's of course I am referring to the original location in 5points. I would never recommend this place until they fix the multiple problems they have going on at this location. This restaurant is not a good value for the dollar. My sandwiches were mostly bread and very little meat. Do not eat here please there are other places to give your business to where your dining experience will be way more enjoyable. read more

I had a lunch togo. I got the stp dipper with no bacon and added lettuce and tomato. Also got potato salad, chips and a cookie. Honestly I think everything was way too salty. Sandwich was good but if I didn't take the bacon out, I feel like my daily sodium intake would of been maxed out. And the chips did not help with that. Potato salad was a little disappointing. Usually when I order potato salad I expect chunks of potatoes. This was more of small tiny diced potato (it was almost like eating cold mashed potato). So you get a lot more mayo/mustard combo with each bite. Cookie was just a regular chocolate chip cookie nothing spectacular. I'll give this place another chance this week. read more

Everyone has their favorites but I think we all agree... the 45 sauce is the real gem! Started going to Groucho's in Five Points when I was in college at USC. I now live a lot closer to the Forest Drive location and have been going here more often. The parking is easier since they have a parking lot but I usually just get it to go. They are pretty busy at certain times of the day (especially on Sundays - post church rush crowd) but they are also open later so you can grab something for dinner too. Lots of families and high school students frequent this location. Salads and sandwiches are the backbone of the restaurant and while none of them are really anything to write home about exactly, adding the 45 sauce makes them special. I personally always go for the all turkey STP dipper. It comes with turkey, cheese and bacon pieces on a soft roll. Extra 45 sauce on the side please! I dip everything in it... sandwich, chips, even the pickle. The sweet tea is great and it has the little cubed ice that everyone loves! Free refills on drinks and I believe a free cookie when you leave. It's delicious and I recommend checking it out (or one of the other many locations popping up across the state). Definitely try the 45 and I'm pretty sure you can buy a bottle of it to take home with you. read more

I am a firehouse subs fan at heart and always will be so I expected all sandwiches to be to that quality especially if I paid more than firehouses prices for a dry sandwich with a little bit of dry meat... The forest acres location is horrible!!! They don't care about the order to pack them with atleast a decent presentation.! They got my first order wrong, gave me a credit.. today I chose to use the credit. They took my order, but didn't give the order to the kitchen. I was told it would take 30 minutes. When I arrived I had to wait an additional 20 minutes because the order wasn't done. When I received my order.. the plate was so messy.. my sandwich was cut in 4's instead of half. The manager looked me in my eyes and told me there was nothing wrong with the messy plate he handed me. How unprofessional can you be. read more

I took a to go order from Groucho's today for the first time. My sandwich, the Reuben Variation, was fresh and tasty, though this ain't Katzs deli and the corned beef wasn't exactly piled high, but enough for a good lunch. The pickle that came with it was crisp and delicious, though the chips were nothing special. I will be back to try other items on the menu. Minus one star for being environmentally-unfriendly. My meager sandwich was packed in a large styrofoam container while a simple paper paper wrap would have sufficient. Next time I go I will dine in and try to avoid the excess waste. read more

I've only eaten here a few times but the staff is always nice. The menu at this Groucho's is slightly different than others - in a good way. I ate at Groucho's for my first time ever today and I'm a very picky eater to say the least Their service is amazing and their food is even better! because I'm a very picky eater ordered a customized sandwich and they made It perfectly, i ordered a Toasted Turkey sandwich with no tomatoes or lettuce with provolone cheese on Wheat sandwich bread with a side of their signature Groucho's Chips, the sandwich was toasted to the perfect temperature not too hot and not cold at all, Their Provolone Cheese didnt have a greasy texture which is rare for Deli shops and any place that serves cheese like pizza shops (atleast in Lexington and or Columbia South Carolina) and their chips weren't too salty which is a big plus for me personally because I really care about nutrition and I'm very aware of how much sodium and low quality carbohydrates I Ingest. I went with 5 of my friends today and we all agreed it is our new "group spot" because we loved it so much and it was most of our first times eating there. I know this sounds very rude but I very rarely tip for food and service, BUT. The service and food was so amazing I left a small tip for the first time in years. I believe our servers name was Ashley and she was so kind and genuinely tried to serve us the best way she possibly could. I'm a fan of this place and the food is very good. My wife and I order the STP dipper every time we go. Our kids like their grilled cheese and I haven't heard of anybody not liking the food here. That being said, we haven't been back in some time because although it's not that expensive, it's overpriced. You pay over $7.00 for a little less than half a sub sandwich...when you could go to Publix about 200 yards away and get a full sub sandwich, with a lot more toppings, and just as hot or cold as at Groucho's... for $6.50. Yes, at Groucho's you'll get a great dipping sauce on the side with a small bag of plain chips and a pickle, but come on. A drink is extra (and by "drink" I mean it's one of those situations where you get a cup full of ice and after three sips you need a refill) as is any extra sauce you ask request (depending on the server you get and the mood that server is in). Formula 45 is a godsend. The all turkey Apollo is my favorite sandwich and Angel is my go-to salad, always topped with fresh tomatoes.

The food is great and comes out hot and fast. The waitress has a wagon... deserves a raise. The food options are extensive and they also have healthy options. I really enjoyed the potato salad and even ordered a pint to feed to my 3 time Westminster Dog Show CHAMPION Doberman Pincher, named Craig. The booths were comfortable and the atmosphere is cheerful. They also serve pellet ice with their drinks- and that totally fucks. This is a place you can take your family, and also your mistress- very versatile. FIVE STARS read more

I have always hated Deli places- they never appealed, and the food was always bland. That is, until i tried Groucho's. My husband introduced me to it and i was very against going to a deli but i am so glad I did. I got the white moose sandwich. and just, omg. it was so unbelievably good. the 45 sauce that comes with it is one of a kind and the pickle and chips just add on to the wonderful meal creating an experience like no other. on top of that, the price was cheap. you got more bang for your buck. now, i've had groucho's a bunch since the first time and just now got around to reviewing it. Sometimes i would eat there and then order another meal to go just to have at home :) When you first walk in, you think it's just an average low tier quick lunch dining place, but the atmosphere is wonderful and you soon come to realize that it has quirky touches and that the best places to eat at aren't fancy and high end looking, but cozy and made just for you. :) I hope this place never closes or changes their menu. read more

The selection of sandwiches was very large and let myself, wife, and in laws all get what we wanted--everybody was extremely happy with what we ordered. Once again, Groucho's gets it wrong! I have to say, we've never had trouble with the one in Five Points, but this one on Forest is really awful. This is the fifth time in three years that the take-out order was wrong. How many times have we ordered from here in three years? FIVE. Yes, it has been wrong every single time, and we are ordering exactly whats on the the menu and not asking for any alterations to the food whatsover. To top it off, I had some guy named "Drew" today who first said, well, we're not perfect. After that I felt obligated to point out this was five times wrong out of five, to which he replied he was sorry I was upset. I was not, at this point, upset. I had not raised my voice or said anything other than to point out the order was wrong and to ask if I could get it made fresh, given we'd driven home 15 minutes, back 15 minutes, and now were going home again. I have to say, I did not think that was an unreasonable request. A quality restaurant will often comp your meal when you've had to spend this much time trying to get it right, and this guy was apparently annoyed to give up the 2 dollars of ingredients to make it fresh. Again, he starts with the "I'm sorry you're upset" and walks off. I ask a waitress to call him back, and I ask for my money back. He's still annoyed with me, to the point that after he finally gives me a refund, he actually follows me out to the parking lot, haranguing me. No one is perfect. But acknowledging when you mess up and trying to make it right count for a lot. It seems far more than coincidence that this many orders have had things left out, the wrong thing entirely, what have you. Copping an attitude and being dismissive and then bullying your customers is not a great solution. We actually prefer McAllister's across the street, but it's often so much busier than Groucho's, that I weakened and gave them another chance. My bad. read more

It is the greatest sandwich I have ever eaten. OK, I am old enough to of had a sandwich from the son of Groucho, Ivan and the sandwich I received today was less than half of what he use to offered back in the day. When my STP finally showed up, at best it was lukewarm. The chips were on the verge of being stale and my waitress never came back after taking my order. Someone else brought my sandwich. I'm giving this one star based on my recent experience. I used to love this place but recently its been meh. Just went there today for a pastrami on rye. I got two small pieces of bread with a two slices of pastrami all for $8. I asked for it hot and they nuked the entire sandwich which meant soggy bread.
