Great food and friendly service! One of our favorite places and my three year old even loves the food!

One thing you can always bet on when looking for a place to eat in a strange town is to look for service trucks parked outside . You know, the ones that look like half pick-up and half toobox. The first time I tried Grouchos, there were 4 of them parked in the lot, so I knew I was going to try this place. I even asked one of those guys what was good here .He replied that everything was good, but the only thing on the menu for him was the STP Dipper. Then he added some advice to go ahead on an order an exta dippin sauce it would save the poor waitress a second tripp because you're going to want another one. What was brought to me was the most amazing sandwich piled high with roastbeef, ham melted cheeze, and toped off with bacon bits. A slice of pickel on the side and a bage chips. And that dippin sause.... I could have drank it with a straw! By the time I was done eating, I had the sudden eurge to go put on a bright yellow vest and lean on a shovel to watch someone elese work.. I mean it I was full and it was so delicious ! Update: came back two weeks ago and order was wrong. Now today I'm literally sitting in the restaurant waiting for a fix again. Had long wait because the cook made the wrong sandwich. Now I'm waiting because after receiving food, the salad is made wrong too. Sent it back to add bacon and it was brought back with no bacon. Sent it back again and now it is right. Also salads used to come with plenty of meat and now there is almost none. The only good thing is the young lady up front who is doing her best to make me happy. This was in no way her fault. Don't get me wrong the food here is good. The problem is there cooks in the back. If you order online there is absolutely no way it will be ready when they say it will. The place can be empty and you will still wait. And make sure you check your order because 8 out of 10 times there will be something wrong. This place used to be quick and on point. Don't know what changed but it is really disappointing. If my wife didn't like their food I'd be happy to never come here again. read more

Ordered a take out pastrami on rye with mustard. Simple right? Not so apparently. What I got was a pastrami with lettuce tomato cut down the middle like a 3rd graders PB&J. My god man have a little professionalism in your work. Get the order correct, cut the sandwich corner to corner. The potato salad was warm was it suppose to be that way or was it just left out! Looks like a US Foods product, cheap I'm sure but not very good. This is a franchise? Maybe it's a training issue but this place needs a bit of help to bring it to standard that is acceptable. read more

What I once considered a great place to go for lunch, I have been a few times recently and been extremely disappointed in both service and food. My wife and I went for lunch on Sunday afternoon, after the lunch rush at around 130. We sat down at a table in the middle and waited for someone to take our drink orders for over ten minutes. It wasn't busy as there were only 4 other tables seated at the moment and all of them had already been brought their food. 2 waitresses walked by to different tables but didn't stop. A third one finally came, took our order, and then left. She proceeded to go to the other side of the seating area and clean. About another 10 minutes later our food came out but we never received our drinks. I had to remind the guy who brought out our sandwiches we hadn't received them and he brought our tea and water quickly. Our actual waitress checked in with us once more about 5 minutes after our food was brought out. I had to go up front to ask for refills during our meal. My sandwich wasn't hot at all and the cheese was somewhat rubberized, leading me to believe it had been made before and just reheated right before serving. It's really sad because it seems like it's just this Lexington location that's struggling and it didn't used to be that way. If I want Groucho's in the future, I'll be visiting the west Columbia or Irmo ones from now on. read more

Good food, bad parking and even worse service. I'm all about hiring younger help, but they all look like they just rolled out of bed and have the worst attitude. Just try calling them and see how they answer the phone or when we received our to go order and asked if the extra pickles we ordered was in the bag, answer, "I don't know as I did not pack it, but you can look if you want". We looked and they were not in there and of course she left and we had to track someone else down. Lastly, you'll be hard pressed to get a smile out of them. Just amazing. read more

I'm not sure why all the five star reviews. Food is ok, not bad, but not 4 or 5 stars...a decent quick lunch if you work by the courthouse. More or less, toss a sandwich you made at home in the microwave for 30 seconds and then add a side of ketchup and mayo mixed together (or whatever condiments are mixed up to make their side dipping sauce). Even if the food made it to a 4 or 5 star review, the parking is horrible..seriously it's bad enough to not go at times. Will I go back again? Of course. Will I ever understand how it's somewhere people "rave" about? Never. It's alright or slightly above mediocre at best. I believe some of the 4 and 5 star reviews were written by staff and/or family. If you've been outside of Lexington, SC and to an actual city....this is nothing to think twice about. read more

I loved this laid back place. It's large inside with lots of seating. Seat yourself and the waitress was very attentive. My Reuben was great. My friend got the STP dipper and it's her favorite. Their dipping sauce is da bomb. They have a large menu. Stop in! read more

We came in with a large group. I have eaten here before and the food was ok. I ordered the tuna sandwich and the potato soup since I do not eat meat on Fridays. The tuna melt was ok but the soup, after I asked and was ensured there was no meat, was covered in bacon. The waitress apologized and took it back to what I thought was to get another bowl. After 15 minutes the waitress brought it back. As I suspected, all they did was try to take out the bacon from the original bowl because I still found bacon. Normally bacon is my favorite food, but not on Fridays. After I showed the waitress she took it back and said she would take it off my bill. Well I would hope so. This makes me wonder what else they do to cut corners in the kitchen. At this point, I will not be back based upon my experience. read more

I deliver for UberEats and Doordash and this place is always packed and no parking places so I have to walk a block or more to pick up orders. I decided to see what all the hype was and ordered lunch from here. I wasn't impressed, the meat on the sandwich looked like something someone had already ate once. The my wife's salad bowl was okay but we've had better. Don't understand why everyone loves this place. Everyone has different tastes I guess. read more

We called ahead a gluten free order (I am allergic to gluten so I have no choice) and informed me that it should be ready in 5-10 minuets. After driving out of my way home I walk into the store pay for my sandwich and then the cashier walks out and tells me that they are out of gluten free bread. After I called ahead and ordered and after I had paid for my food. After that the manager came out because I wanted a refund. He was not helpful and told me that the money would be back on my card in 1-2 business days. After that I left. Terrible management. If you're looking for a place with classic deli sandwiches, this is it! They have an extensive menu, but they will fix ANYTHING you want! Our party had reubens, ham & cheeses, and the Groucho original. EVERYTHING was tasty! And their own brand of chips were good as well! read more

First wanna say I eat here fairly often. Will I go back. Of course. But I think about these things *every time* I come here. I've got to agree with the opinion that it's good, but pretty overrated. The sandwiches are simply nuked in the microwave and besides the "secret," formula 45 sauce, there's not really anything you couldn't easily recreate at home. Prices are a bit steep for what they're serving, and they don't do sandwiches a la carte (which is the only way they get away with the price, is that it comes with chips and a pickle). With that being said, almost paying $10 for a 6-8 inch sandwich, a small bag of chips, and a tea seems crazy when you could go to Publix and get a 12 inch sandwich made with boars head meats and cheeses, a full-size bag of chips *and* a drink for roughly the same price for double the food. Even Jersey Mikes lets you get a 12 inch sub, chips, drink, and a cookie for 11-12 bucks. Parking. Is. Absurd. Don't go around lunch if you're trying to be quick, or when the local high schools let out. All that being said...Will I go back? Of course. If you time it right they're usually quick and the food is ok. But for the money, you could get more food (at a better quality) anywhere else. Servers are always nice, though, and the tea *is* good. My first visit to grouchos was less than stellar, and it took me a long time to go back. Tonight, I had the Mid East special, I added lettuce and tomato, and it was quite tasty. My husband had the club, he wasn't very impressed. My sub was good, but they only come in one size, and it's pretty small. We ordered to-go, and it wasn't ready when we got there. Overall, I'd go back if I wasn't very hungry... I like to eat! read more

The location closest to home. A location I visit frequently. I never knew it but was told you could order a large STP which adds extra meat. A regular is $6.99. I sat down and after several minutes a waiter came up to me and I placed my large STP order. 5 minutes later a STP came out to my table. I had to question them on if this was a large or a regular. They said it was a large but It was not much bigger than a regular, they would've said it had more meat on it than a regular but I know that isn't true. I pick it up and the meat immediately falls out of it. I had to use a fork to eat it. I go to cash out and see the cost of this sandwich meal which comes with a pickle, chips, and tea cost $14.02. I could order two meals for that cost and get more meat than I did on this "large" STP. That is completely outrageous and what I received quality wise mixed in with the service wasn't even worth the price of a regular STP. Yet here I am paying more than double the cost of a regular. I'm questioning my patronage to this chain after tonight's experience. read more

Groucho's Deli is a SC favorite. I always get an all turkey apollo and devour every last drop of my formula 45 sauce. It doesn't matter which Groucho's you visit the taste is always consistent. It's always delivered fast and it's fairly priced. I lived in Lexington for a long time and always visited that location. I now live downtown but anytime i get together with friends for lunch someone always suggests the Lexington Groucho's. It isn't about the location, it's about the girls that work there. The staff has been there for years and they are always so friendly and remember you. That's pretty difficult considering the place fills up with entire sports teams and what often appears to be a table of 8 small kids and two adults. The place can get loud but the servers always have a smile on their face. My order has never been wrong at this location, i've never wanted to send anything back and i've never had to ask for a refill even when it's obvious they are slammed. Speaking of refills, there are only two places i will order sweet tea and Groucho's is one of them, it's divine! If you want the real Groucho's Deli experience visit the one in Lexington and you won't regret it. read more

A midlands special. You can't go wrong here. Decor is dated but the food is legit. Get the White Moose with 45 sauce! You won't regret it!
