Went to Libby's one afternoon with my family. My husband got a burger. He absolutely loved it. My son got the same and loved his. I got chicken tenders because typically they have the best chicken tenders. This trip they were rubbery and over cooked. I couldn't even eat them. Which is very abnormal for Libby's. Typically the food always out does the service. We've had the waitress multiple times now. Personality super dry, inattentive, rushes you and just overall seems annoyed with you the entire time. Many chances given but will definitely ask to not have her next time. Friendly wait staff, good food and great atmosphere! Libby's is all that. I had the low country wrap with grilled chicken, bacon, pimento, cheese, and more... it was very good. It came with french fries and they were solid as well. My friend got the Philly cheesesteak and said it was one of the best he's had. He got the chips with his and said they were the best homemade chips he had ever had. We ate on the porch and enjoyed everything very much. The service is very timely as well. I eat at Libby's all the time and normally love their food it's delicious and consistent. But today's experience left me really frustrated. I called to place a take out order and asked for an 18-inch pizza (which they STILL have listed on their website menu), only to be told they no longer carry it and only offer the 12-inch. The girl who answered the phone rushed me through my order, and then she dropped the bomb: because my take out order was over $100, they automatically added a 20% gratuity. I always tip on take out, but 20% for bagging food is insane. That kind of gratuity is for full table service servers checking in, refilling drinks, clearing plates, and making the dining experience enjoyable. For take out, there's none of that. Throwing everything in a bag and handing it over is not worth 20%, especially when the order is already overpriced to begin with. And the kicker? Almost every time I get take out here, they leave something out of the bag. If you can't even make sure the full order is there, you definitely don't deserve to force customers into a 20% charge. Libby's food is good, but policies like this show they're taking advantage of loyal customers. read more

Small causal restaurant in the heart of Lexington. A local staple which has been in town for ten years, and whether you are local or not you will be sure to feel right at home. Wide variety of options with homemade ingredients. Service is a bit slow but then again who is in rush when you are at home. Loved the bbq shrimp and sausage plate!! Sausage was fresh and I wouldn't be surprised if it was sourced from the local butcher. Shrimp were also cooked perfectly! Went to dinner at Libby's with some friends tonight. Normally, we love this place but they were really off tonight. We got there at 6:45 and ordered. Our appetizer did not come until 730 after we had to ask for it. While we were waiting, we were seated near the kitchen and could see all the things going on. One of the cooks I noticed barehanded a handful of french fries and put them in a to go box. I was immediately turned off by that. I continued to watch to see maybe he was getting his dinner to go or what not. As we continue to wait for our meal, we continue to watch what was going on in the kitchen. The same cook had no gloves on and continued to bare hand food that was going on people's plates. We also at one point saw him put a plate under his armpit and then put food on it. Every time he touched something, he would wipe his hands on the back of his shirt or a rag that we noticed went from up on his shoulder and to the ground several times. We mentioned all of this to the hostess, who tried to explain to us that. DHEC was flip-flopping between whether bare handing food was okay or were gloves necessary. We told her that all four of us agreed that no one should touch food barehanded, and then continue to wipe their dirty hands on their T-shirt. As we continued to wait for our food, we noticed the two tables behind us that came in after us received their meals. We were the last table to receive our food. It took an hour and 15 minutes to get our food. Once we got our food, it was pretty good until my friend found a dark hair in her Asian wrap. Kudos to our server. She was wonderful, kept our glasses filled and super apologetic for the things that happened dealing with the kitchen. We have always loved Libby's but now we are second-guessing whether we will come back here. As far as the restaurant, my husband went to the restroom before we left. He came back, saying we would never come back here due to the uncleanliness of the men's bathroom. There was no toilet paper, debris on the floor and altogether a mess. It was not a lack of people working there, but someone could've checked on it from time to time. We were there for over two hours. I give it two stars simply because the waitress was awesome! read more

Food is generally very good but not many healthy options. Service is always friendly, fairly quick and most helpful. Warm greeting when you arrive. They do it right but it's just the menu for me personally. I haven't tried many things because I try to eat healthy. But just reading the description doesn't make me want to order most things. The fried green tomatoes were super yummy! The ranch was soo good with it as well. The fish was also a great texture. The batter was crispy. The raw chips weren't my favorite. Some were good but the consistency was too crunchy for some of them. Solid meal. Our waitress was nice but would take away some of our stuff like silverware and sauces. I asked our server if she would go with the Reuben or the Philly and she answered me, "the Philly, definitely the Philly," so I went with the Philly & raw fries (house made chips). My husband ordered the same thing. We were both very happy with our orders. They turned out very good! We both got mixed peppers (sweet and hot) in our phillys and we loved the way the peppers complimented the beef. The hoagie bread they used was good too. All in all, it was very very good! My wife and I went here yesterday for lunch. We were our waitress took our drink orders. We decided to split an order of 8 chicken wings (garlic Parmesan) and a Philly Steak Sandwich with raw fries. Chicken wings are the best we've had in Columbia...Crispy and dipped in garlic butter sauce, on a plate with garlic butter Parmesan sauce. The fries were crispy and excellent. The Philly sandwich was also very good, which we ordered with hot peppers. I've never been disappointed by the food at Libby's. It's become one of our favorite spots. read more

I spent a couple of days visiting a friend who lives near Lexington SC. For lunch one day we went to Libby's of Lexington. They have inside and outside dining but it was too warm to sit outside. We entered via the side door and walked by the kitchen area. It was strange but for some reason they didn't want anyone going in/out of the front door. They have an interesting menu so it took me a while to decide. I selected the Ruben sandwich since I hadn't had one in a while; and a side of pasta salad. The meat was piled high on my sandwich. The bread was nicely grilled. The sandwich could have used a little more sauerkraut and 1000 Island Dressing, but overall, and excellent sandwich that filled me up. The pasta salad was just okay, so I only had a couple of bites. It was on the dry side and didn't have much flavor. My friend had the Asian Steak Wrap along with fries - I should have ordered the fries, as they were crispy and seasoned well. It's one of her favorite wraps at this place. The prices are excellent for the amount of food you get. My sandwich and side of pasta salad was only $8.95! This place is a local favorite and when we were half way through our meal, all of the tables were filled. Our server was friendly and prompt. I definitely want to visit this place again. read more

We were greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant. Fun fact - you enter in the restaurant into the kitchen which is kind of fun! All the employees we encountered were extremely pleasant and accommodating. The food was tasty! The friend chicken tenders were homemade and were delicious. The chicken breast was seasoned well and not dry. The cheeseburger was average to slightly above. This place closes at 8:00 and was packed at 6:00, so come early. We ordered the loaded fries and they were really good with lots of cheese and bacon crumbles. I had the lowcountry chicken wrap. It was good but I barely noticed the pimiento cheese that was supposed to be on it. My date had the Margherita pizza. It was good but the tomatoes this time of year aren't great and the ones on this pizza lacked flavor. The cheese they use on their pizzas is stringy and chewy if you like that. Great little spot for lunch! It's crowded which reflects the food but get there early or be prepared to hang out until a table is ready. Things move quick though so our wait wasn't long. We tried the fried green tomatoes for an app and I ordered the shrimp poboy for lunch. The shrimp we large and juicy and cooked perfectly. The sandwich was served open faced and dressed appropriately. I asked for the sauce on the side and ultimately used their ranch dressing in lieu of tarter sauce (I would recommend this as their ranch is killer).
