The coffee here is great! I think they get it right with the coffee, it's always consistent and their vanilla cinnamon latte is so good! Their matcha latte needs work. I LOVE matcha but unfortunately theirs lacks matcha flavor (umami). I think it could definitely be the type of matcha they use and the color is always a very light green. Not a fan of the brands of milk alternatives they use either. I definitely prefer the califia barista blends. Overall, everyone here is super nice. I've been here over a dozen times and had a great experience. The coffee definitely keeps me coming back! read more

There is both indoor and outdoor seating as well as a very small parking lot. There is a good chance you will not get a spot in the parking lot on a busy day and you may want to use the available street parking spots instead. read more

I live near by and had been wanting to try this place out. On a rainy weekend we decided to try it and it was a cute little spot. I was under the weather so I ordered their Wellness Tea latte with honey and it is quite the boost I needed. I also got a small drip coffee just to try it out and it was okay, a bit acidic for my liking. My husband got their iced vanilla cinnamon latte, he enjoyed his drink. I liked that outdoor seating and service. Ladies were helpful and quick. Place has books and games, needs a little tlc but would definitely return for the Wellness Tea! read more

I like coming here to get my coffee-fix every time I'm around Montebello. I've tried their hot and iced vanilla latte. Regular sweetness is just perfect for my taste. I've also tried their their iced cinnamon latte but wasn't a fan as it was too much cinnamon taste for me. The shop is usually quiet and plenty of room to study or get your work done. Visiting my friend and needed a caffeine wake up, this place was just the right place. Located super close to the Montabello Country Club, the barista/cashier knew exactly what I wanted and how to properly make it. I'm an iced coffee type of person and an iced cappuccino (aka a short latte or cortado) with soy was perfect. For the price, I will be coming back. This place has a very cool & chill vibe! Cashier was helpful and had good customer service. I asked if their Cinnamon Latte was sweet, and he advised that it wasn't, however, they could add vanilla sweetener. He continued, stating it was a popular drink and that it was very well liked by customers. I said, I'll have it!!! I also went ahead and ordered their PassionBerry Iced Tea! My drinks were ready in a timely manner! As I waited, I noticed that they had a collection of books which was nice! Good for those who want to sip their coffee and enjoy a nice read. They had good spacious seating inside and outside. What I found to be nice was the big windows that allows for natural lighting to shine in, giving the space brightness for those who are working or doing school assignments. The drinks are were great! They have good selection of coffee and pastries albeit limited. I checked-in and was given an effusive welcome by a young male staff on a chilly LA Tuesday morning. They only offer a regular and large size cup coffee. Prices were fair. Indoor vibe was very chill and inviting. Staff was obsequious, amiable and laconic. I ordered a large Hazelnut Latte. It was perfectly brewed. Front and rear parking available. Overall, I had a good latte and order experience. I highly recommend this small coffee shop. read more

Street parking was easy on a weekday afternoon. They have a 15 min spot which is convenient for pick up and to go orders. They have a small cute patio in the front. I saw a few people with laptops just working away. Inside is simple and clean. Their menu is pretty straightforward with the basics. I ordered a regular iced latte and a chai tea latte for my mom. They weren't busy so my drinks were ready pretty quickly. The latte was good. My mom loved her chai tea, I'd never seen her drink a latte that quick before, haha. I noticed the staff pouring it out of a giant plastic container so I'm unsure of the quality of the coffee. The cold brew didn't taste bad, but it also wasn't anything spectacular. I ordered a regular iced honey latte here. I thought the coffee tasted very good! The cafe inside does not have a lot of seating inside and encourages outdoor seating with the majority of tables being outside. There are many different games and books there that customers can use, which I found to be very unique. The cafe is located on a very busy street by the freeway, so it could be loud if you are chatting even when the person you are talking to is sitting right across from you. This cafe also seems to close really early during the day at around noon, so it is best to come here in the morning. There is also a parking lot located behind the cafe, and you can enter it from the south side of the shop. Overall, the atmosphere and coffee at this cafe are great, and I would definitely recommend this spot. I would like to come back again and try the matcha latte next time. read more

Our experience started out great when we tried My gf's hazelnut latte and it was fantastic! It was made perfectly with just the right amount of sweetness. I ordered the cold brew and it was my first bad experience with cold brew I had in my life. It was super sour and acidic. Cold brew is supposed to to be smooth. My gf and I both agreed that it was pretty bad. When I came back to return the drink and explain how the cold brew was sour/acidic, the staff member was sooooo rude! He didn't even apologize and gave me an attitude talking about how the drink is supposed to taste the way it is. He was super snobby and condescending. He was like have you ever had cold brew before?! As if I've never had a cup of coffee before. In the end, I ended up getting a hot drip coffee and he said it's gonna taste the same as the cold brew. It did not taste the same at all. It was so much better than the cold brew. Even though the hazelnut latte was good, it wasn't good enough for me to come back and deal with that attitude. read more

I love coming here! The location is peaceful even despite being near a freeway -- you forget where you are! It's a gem and the employees are kind without being overbearing. I love the simple menu and overall feeling of simplicity to the place -- I bet it keeps the prices steady. Anything they ever add to the menu is only high quality. Coffee is one of the best quality I've tasted in terms of the way the caffeine feels, the taste etc. You forgot you drank coffee cause you don't get the runs from it... This is the place you should visit if you are tired of Starbucks. Ground Up Coffee basically brings back the good old days when everything is "all about the coffee". This is definitely a coffee shop where you can walk up to the barista and just be normal. Their listed menu is short and simple, and I am sure the barista can personalize your drinks if needed. Nevertheless, it was a relaxing place to hang out at. I would definitely come here more often if they have longer business hours. If I could give more stars, I would. This place is a hidden gem!! Not even places in LA have coffee as tasty as here! I love their honey latte! It's not overly sweet and the blend of coffee they use is perfect! So smooth. It's just the perfect balance between the taste of coffee and the flavor of the sweetener. I have tried their vanilla cinnamon as well. Also very good but my go to is their honey. Overall, I'm glad I work by here because otherwise, I would've never expected such a high end coffee shop in Montebello. Everyone here is very friendly and attentive. Keep up the good work!
