Everything about this place feels thoughtful and intentional from the artfully tiles floors to the amenities in the bathroom (q-tips, flossers, and hair bands). It was a bit of a trick to find it (it's inside a mini mall with a tiny different storefront on the street which is next to a busy little stribut once I did, it's calm and pleasant inside. Very nice, relaxed vibe.

Love when they teach a lil culture and history3

10/10. Such a cute place! The coffee was great and the food was too. The decor was beautiful and intensional and the service was superb. I want to try all the things here because it feels like they make them with love. Something as simple as tostadas will make you want to come back. The coffee was nicely balanced and not too sweet. It hit all the right notes. Can't wait to return. Wish it was closer so I could be a reg hehe they have games to play while you sip your coffee, merch and other cute things to buy. Please try this place, it's a gem and a little piece of Guate in LA *heart eyes*

This place is a hidden gem! All natural and freshly squeezed juices, beautifully crafted savory drinks and organic ingredients & breads for their toasts, salads, and sandwiches. The staff was energetic and helpful with aiding you to pick the favorites. We had the tuna melt, avocado toast, and chimichurri Sando! Taken you walk in, you see the seating area but you have to walk towards the back of the building through the barber shop to place your order. Don't be discouraged, you are in for a treat! The juices are freshly pressed with flavors like turmeric, pineapple, ginger, apple, and oranges.

I was thrilled when my darling girls asked me to meet them here on a Saturday morning. I'm so thankful they discovered this place otherwise I would have never known. Ulew started in 2023 as a pop-up on the corner of Olympic & Soto selling natural juices. Now they have a café where they also serve Guatemalan coffee, pastries, and traditional & creative food options. The entrance is a bit tricky. Go through the doorway by the flower shop and proceed down the hallway. You place your order off to the right and on the left of the hall is the dining area. The lounge is warm & welcoming. It feels and looks like you are in someone's living room. The walls are lined with artwork by local artists, which are for sale, and there are even books & board games for your entertainment. Our order consisted of Café de Olla, Café Del Dia, Latte De La Barrio, and a Jalapeño Cream Cheese Croissant. My Café de Olla was perfect. The first sip was a delight on the palate. I could taste the notes of spices and a hint of orange. The other two beverages were just as good. The bold, richness of the coffee stood out on the Café Del Dia, and the Latte De La Barrio was delicious. I also liked the traditional clay mugs in which they were served. (Large orders are served in a to-go cup.) The Jalapeño Cream Cheese Croissant was also exceptionally good. The croissant was flaky & fluffy with a generous amount of cream cheese filling and jalapeño slices. In addition to the locals, about 10 police officers came in for breakfast. A true testament to how good this place is. I must mention that the staff are incredibly friendly here. The lady at the register, the man who brought us our order and kept checking on us, and the guy who bussed our table. Not only do they care about serving quality food & drink but they also care about their customers' overall experience. *Street parking.

First time dining here, and this place definitely has my attention. This isn't your standard coffee shop -- they also offer food with both traditional and creative options. Everything feels thoughtfully put together. The service is amazing, and they provide great recommendations if you're unsure what to order. The space itself is very nice and welcoming. Jeffery (Tomas) was extremely friendly and helpful. You can truly feel that this is a family-owned restaurant. I really appreciated how he described the restaurant as his family's journey -- that personal touch makes the experience even more special.

Food and drinks are delicious. Staff are friendly. They only have street parking. You would enter through a shopping center to order the drinks and food and they have a separate seating area

The service is really good and the food is amazing never had a sandwich taste like this would mind spending my last dollar for something like this. Staff is very friendly the environment is very relaxing overall it's a 10/10 for me would recommend to other people to try this place out.

Really loved the vibe and decor, also loved how they have community members artwork on display and for sale. Food is good, love the matcha and this time tried the pistachio croissant. Service is great, order taker was friendly and our order was ready pretty quick. Would definitely recommend others to stop by and try this cafe.

Quaint coffee spot located in a mini strip mall that quickly transported me to the shops in Guatemala. Ulew ties quality coffee, food and ambiance that sends you on a trip to Central America without leaving LA. Our order was taken quickly by one of the friendly staff. We took a seat in a comfortable area with plenty of tables and traditional Guatemalan music in the background, marimba! We had the cardamom, Guate-Mayan mocha coffees and ordered tostadas to snack on, everything was tasty. Absolutely enjoyed this café. Highly recommended.

Located inside of a small but bustling indoor market, this coffee shop is tiny, but has lots of character. You'll find fresh pastries alongside an array of amazing caffeinated drink options. Everyone here has a smile, and their coffee reflects the love and care that is in each drop. Their lounge is across the way, which is warmly lit, with plenty of seats. A perfect spot to hang out whether you're solo or with a group of people.

I got off the freeway on the way to work for this? The Ulew Golden Latte combines turmeric, cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon, Koatji milk, and a touch of ginger syrup. It was heavenly! The staff were so friendly and helpful in navigating their menu for the first time. I parked out front and ordered the golden latte, a sol wellness shot and the breakfast sando. This place is darling and I will surely be back next time I'm nearby. In paying for my wellness shot, they gave me 50 cents, what a beautiful gesture of community care. Next time, I hope to be able to enjoy my order in the comfort of their dining area. It is a beautifully curated space that is both cozy and inviting!

    Calmness Matcha Latte

What a true hidden gem!!!!!! The coffee is perfection! A perfect harmonious balance of sweetness, acidity, and body, entirely free of burnt flavor nodes. If you enjoy a truly and delicious cup of coffee, Ulew is the spot. We had the Mayan mocha and the Calmness Matcha Latte which aired With perfection with the pistachio cream croissant . Last their is truly nothing like the pride in the craft, and the baristas at Ulew are masters at their craft

First time here and being a small coffee shop inside a Central American market makes it feel a bit more authentic. The aroma, the environment and the nostalgia of being in a different country just makes the anticipation of the 5 star invigorate your taste buds. I ordered the Latte de barrio and I mean what a tingling hit of caffeine with the first sip. Just my caffeine and coffee fix was satisfied! For sure going back! 5/5 stars! Service is exceptional!

This location on Wilshire Blvd in Koreatown is the smallest of the three I've visited, with under 10 seats available. It's a compact shop, and most customers opt for takeout. It's a narrow shop, and most customers take their orders to-go. I've previously enjoyed the La Paradiso and La Toscana, with the La Paradiso being my personal favorite. For our first visit with our son, we asked the staff for recommendations, and they suggested either the Venice Beach (Turkey) or the New Yorker (Roast Beef). The staff was incredibly generous, offering a roast beef sample, which our son loved! We also appreciated them providing ice and straws for our water. We ordered the New Yorker ($19.00) with roast beef, porcini cream, tomato, and arugula. The sandwich was thoughtfully cut in half, perfect for sharing. The schiacciata bread boasts a crispy exterior and a soft, chewy interior, which beautifully complements the meats and cheeses. We opted to substitute the porcini cream for mozzarella, which was sliced into perfect bite-sized pieces and tasted incredibly fresh. The roast beef was thinly sliced and tender, the tomatoes were fresh and sliced to perfection, and the arugula added a delightful peppery crunch. It's a well-balanced sandwich and one of the best in LA. We would definitely order it again. A big thank you to the female staff member who expertly cut the meat and offered samples, assisting us in making the perfect choice for my son's sandwich. This experience was truly a positive one for our family. I would definitely return to AAV for the excellent food and service. Given the small size of the shop, takeout is recommended, especially during peak hours. The sandwiches at AAV are so good! Fuggedaboutit!

It's almost like a mini pizza but with delicious crisper crust that isn't overbaked. 4/5 Fried Cod Laffa had a magical mix of flavor. Personally I love the contrast between the texture of the cod and the variety of fresh vegetables. The sauce complimented and brought all the ingredients together. The soft yet firm Laffa held this hefty meal. Had to eat half for lunch and half for another time. It fills you up! I would get this again when I'm here. The interior has this gorgeous overhead natural light with some hanging plants that almost like introducing a bit of natural nature indoors. Seating - some barstool like seating and around 4 double seaters. If you have a big party of people - it's better to get it as takeout! Restroom? Yes; but didn't use. Parking? Yes; street parking

The menu is not complicated or very large, and has a specialty item like a stuffed bread with different options named after possibly the founder of the restaurant. Khachapuri is the item, but we did not get it this time. We got a Chicken Ceaser Laffa wrap as well as a Chicken Parm and Bolognese sandwich. They did not take very long to get prepared and brought to our table. These are very good size sandwiches, you can easily eat it as two meals. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and helped us make our decision on what to order. It is a very bright place. Has odd artwork, not really a style or anything. A picture of a cow, a watercolor landscape. A fish chart. Something else that I forget.... Just odd, does not really work together, but oh well. Maybe these are from employees or were donated or something. But on to the sandwiches.... They were really good. I think I liked the Ceaser better than the chicken parm and Bolognese sandwich. But it was a hot day and the Ceaser was a bit more refreshing. The bread and wrap were good. Lots of sauce and dressing. Lots of stuff stuffed into the sandwiches. Good stuff. Parking can be tricky. I would like to try out some of the other menu items one of these days.

If you're visiting the area, I highly recommend making a stop here. My biggest piece of advice is to go early because it gets incredibly busy by lunchtime--and for good reason! Keep in mind they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. While you can order online, I'll always choose to go inside so I can browse everything they have to offer. Their selection of fresh pasta salads is fantastic, and the desserts are always tempting. Whether you're craving lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, a chicken Parmesan sandwich, or one of their many other Italian specialties, you really can't go wrong. Be sure to check out the wine section in the back left of the market. It's extensive and absolutely incredible! This is the kind of place that keeps people coming back year after year, and it's easy to see why. Being Italian American and growing up with an Italian mother who loved feeding everyone, this was one of our favorite places to visit together. Those memories make every trip here even more special. My personal favorite is the Godmother sandwich--hands down one of the best you'll ever have. It's packed with flavor, made with quality ingredients, and it's the sandwich I find myself craving every time I come back. One of the things I love most about this place is the atmosphere. It has an energy that immediately makes you think of family. Everyone is genuinely kind, welcoming, and happy to help, making you feel right at home the moment you walk through the door. It has that warm, old-school Italian family vibe that's becoming harder and harder to find, and it's a big part of what makes this place so special.
