    Calmness Matcha Latte

What a true hidden gem!!!!!! The coffee is perfection! A perfect harmonious balance of sweetness, acidity, and body, entirely free of burnt flavor nodes. If you enjoy a truly and delicious cup of coffee, Ulew is the spot. We had the Mayan mocha and the Calmness Matcha Latte which aired With perfection with the pistachio cream croissant . Last their is truly nothing like the pride in the craft, and the baristas at Ulew are masters at their craft

Café de Olla & Latte De La Barrio.

I was thrilled when my darling girls asked me to meet them here on a Saturday morning. I'm so thankful they discovered this place otherwise I would have never known. Ulew started in 2023 as a pop-up on the corner of Olympic & Soto selling natural juices. Now they have a café where they also serve Guatemalan coffee, pastries, and traditional & creative food options. The entrance is a bit tricky. Go through the doorway by the flower shop and proceed down the hallway. You place your order off to the right and on the left of the hall is the dining area. The lounge is warm & welcoming. It feels and looks like you are in someone's living room. The walls are lined with artwork by local artists, which are for sale, and there are even books & board games for your entertainment. Our order consisted of Café de Olla, Café Del Dia, Latte De La Barrio, and a Jalapeño Cream Cheese Croissant. My Café de Olla was perfect. The first sip was a delight on the palate. I could taste the notes of spices and a hint of orange. The other two beverages were just as good. The bold, richness of the coffee stood out on the Café Del Dia, and the Latte De La Barrio was delicious. I also liked the traditional clay mugs in which they were served. (Large orders are served in a to-go cup.) The Jalapeño Cream Cheese Croissant was also exceptionally good. The croissant was flaky & fluffy with a generous amount of cream cheese filling and jalapeño slices. In addition to the locals, about 10 police officers came in for breakfast. A true testament to how good this place is. I must mention that the staff are incredibly friendly here. The lady at the register, the man who brought us our order and kept checking on us, and the guy who bussed our table. Not only do they care about serving quality food & drink but they also care about their customers' overall experience. *Street parking.

First time dining here, and this place definitely has my attention. This isn't your standard coffee shop -- they also offer food with both traditional and creative options. Everything feels thoughtfully put together. The service is amazing, and they provide great recommendations if you're unsure what to order. The space itself is very nice and welcoming. Jeffery (Tomas) was extremely friendly and helpful. You can truly feel that this is a family-owned restaurant. I really appreciated how he described the restaurant as his family's journey -- that personal touch makes the experience even more special.

Really loved the vibe and decor, also loved how they have community members artwork on display and for sale. Food is good, love the matcha and this time tried the pistachio croissant. Service is great, order taker was friendly and our order was ready pretty quick. Would definitely recommend others to stop by and try this cafe.

Located inside of a small but bustling indoor market, this coffee shop is tiny, but has lots of character. You'll find fresh pastries alongside an array of amazing caffeinated drink options. Everyone here has a smile, and their coffee reflects the love and care that is in each drop. Their lounge is across the way, which is warmly lit, with plenty of seats. A perfect spot to hang out whether you're solo or with a group of people.

I got off the freeway on the way to work for this? The Ulew Golden Latte combines turmeric, cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon, Koatji milk, and a touch of ginger syrup. It was heavenly! The staff were so friendly and helpful in navigating their menu for the first time. I parked out front and ordered the golden latte, a sol wellness shot and the breakfast sando. This place is darling and I will surely be back next time I'm nearby. In paying for my wellness shot, they gave me 50 cents, what a beautiful gesture of community care. Next time, I hope to be able to enjoy my order in the comfort of their dining area. It is a beautifully curated space that is both cozy and inviting!

Someone spot lighted this business on TicTok and I made sure to visit the same week. Everything that was show cased appeared to be savory, and it was exactly what I expected. The address that's linked to my Apple Maps, from Yelp was not quite specific. This coffee spot is located inside a mini shopping center. When you drive down Soto St you will see a shop that appears to be half florists and half plants; that's the entrance. If you follow the GPS, it's not quite precise. While I was waiting in the seating area, I was approached by two young women who asked where it was. The seating area is separate from the register where they order and prepare the food down the hall. Seating and restroom is to the left, ordering coffee is a few steps down to the right. It was a 5 min venture and yes it was worth the exploration. I purchased the overnight oats with chia seeds, topped with fruit, and two drinks for a friend and I. My drink was the Cardamom latte, which I specifically selected since cardamom offsets acidity and invites balance. If you're trying to avoid anything acidic, cardamom spice lowers acidity and creates a ph balance. For my friend I ordered the Latte De Barrio; both drinks have a nice earthy taste, which I loved! The ambiance is nice, it appears they have a selection of books that are there for the public, a nicely decorated seating area, and an indigenous Latin American altar. The menu matches the aesthetic of its surroundings. ULEW has a nice welcoming vibe, and attentive staff. I loved the plants that they set up in both the seating room and ordering area. There's plenty of people coming and going, & if I lived near by I would visit more often. I happened to drive from Long Beach to check it out and it was worth it; wish we had something like this in Long Beach. I will be back in the future on my off days when I'm in the mood to enjoy a good cup of coffee.

First time here and being a small coffee shop inside a Central American market makes it feel a bit more authentic. The aroma, the environment and the nostalgia of being in a different country just makes the anticipation of the 5 star invigorate your taste buds. I ordered the Latte de barrio and I mean what a tingling hit of caffeine with the first sip. Just my caffeine and coffee fix was satisfied! For sure going back! 5/5 stars! Service is exceptional!

After seeing a video about this place online, I knew I had to try it! The parking and finding the cafe are a little difficult, but it is so worth it! We got some food, a coffee and a tea. Everything was delicious! The place has free WiFi, outlets, and tables to work at. We got there at around 11 on a Saturday and it was packed. We had to wait awhile to get a table, but it was worth it! I also loved the Guatemalan themed decor and some local art displayed. Overall, this is a great coffee shop in the area, I would highly recommend!

We LOOOOOVED our drinks at Ulew and the service was incredible. We had a few questions about our drinks and recommendations and the barista was very helpful and knowledgeable regarding all the drinks. I can't wait to come back! I order the chai, never having had African chai before and curious about the ginger syrup- it was so good, and everyone agreed the chai was the most surprising/best find out of all (but everything was good). This chai isn't very "spicy", which I liked and I could taste the ginger . I tried a sip of all the drinks pictured and was also very surprised by the cold brew! Usually I can't drink plain cold brew but Ulew's is very light/refreshing without being watery or too saturated. I also ordered a ginger wellness shot which was also 10/10 They have a whole dining area perfect for sitting at to read/study. Can't wait to go back!

The ambiance is beautiful. It's so green/earthy, they have books, artwork, and more. My favorite latte to get is their Latte de Barrio. It's become my favorite latte, and I was never really a coffee drinker before. It's flavorful and a bit sweet. The baristas/workers are always nice! 10/10 recommend this place for the good vibes and energy, how pretty it is, and the great lattes!

This cute little cafe is located inside the mall. The doors from the outside do NOT open. There is some street parking, and some parking in the plaza next door. the cafe is split into 2 sections. The area to order coffee/drinks/food is different to where you sit to eat. So read the signs!! there are plenty guiding you to where to go! I ordered the calmness matcha iced with oat milk And my friend ordered the de olla latte iced as well. there were SO many drinks I really wanted a hot drink because the cups alone were so CUTE...but it was so hot outside i could not. The inside of the cafe which is right across the ordering area is so cute! They had a lot of colorful Guatemalan decor. the chairs/cushions also had pretty patterns. The matcha had a nice hint of lavender .sometimes when i get lavender drinks they taste like soap, but this was great! I liked that the matcha flavor was strong and not light, it was also very creamy. any matcha lovers dream. I really regret not getting the food here...it looked really good, but I had just eaten lunch I will be back next time for sure to try the other hot coffees and the food :)

What an awesome coffee shop in Boyle Heights! Loved the music, Spanish rock, the vibe of Mexican roots and the food all freshly made in house. What a hidden gem!!!!!!

They sell a variety of sandwich which you can customize to your liking. Because the sandwichs are huge, my sister and I shared one. We tried the L'Italiana and added truffle honey for $3. Total was $24 for our shared sandwich that was super filling for two people that we actually didn't even finish our own portion. So highly recommend sharing your sandwich! The sandwich was better than expected, the truffle honey really elevated the flavor of the specific sandwich we got but I would ask for less honey. Too much sweetness did overpower the sandwich. We also got the chip & drink combo for $5 and it's Italian chips & water. They also have a small bar seating area! Parking was a bit harder to find but we found street metered parking. Would highly recommend & can't wait to be back.

The bread was perfect, the meat was stacked just right, and everything inside actually held up instead of turning soggy. You can see it in the sandwich, it still looks and eats like something you'd get handed across the counter. But the pistachio cream is what took it over the top. I honestly don't think I've ever had anything like it on a sandwich before. It sounds like it could be too much, but it was perfect. Creamy, savory, a little rich, and completely addictive. This place is the real deal. If it's this good after a one-hour delivery ride, I can only imagine how insane it is fresh in the shop. Five stars easy.
