The best thing about this place was the service! It was five star. The young woman who worked there were so friendly and informative, it makes me want to go back there. The place is clean and welcoming, and there were lots of people camped out and working on laptops. There is a large range of coffee and tea choices from the simple to the fancy. I tried a plain cold brew, and it was good. Next time I go back, I definitely want to try one of their fancier concoctions. I also had a bagel with cream cheese and a blueberry scone, they were both fine as well. Not raves, but perfectly good. The parking is easy and the prices were reasonable. It's a good little spot.

Stumbled upon this coffee shop located inside East Rock Market Hall. Super cute location to grab a quick coffee and even study at! Wifi is available but no outlets. I would recommend getting their coffee (although it's on the pricer end). As for the pastries, I forgot how much I was charged for the chocolate croissant but I would not recommend. It was super basic. I'd say go to G-cafe if you're looking for a better croissant. Large Vanilla Cold Brew with Vanilla Sweet Cream Foam ($7.50) Large Caramel Apple Cold Brew ($6.50)

Placed inside of East Rock Market in New Haven, we took a quick visit to Ground Up Coffee's 2nd location. Their menu has all the classics and even has pup cups for your furry friends! They also serve some pastries and Shef's Bagels (for anyone familiar with the Cheshire bagel spot). We tried a cold brew, iced matcha latte, Cinnamon Toast Crunch iced coffee, and a Fruity Pebbles Iced Coffee. We enjoyed everything. The market also has seating and Ground Up is open until 4pm to snag your caffeine fix. Will definitely be back to try more! Love the location as well; conveniently placed if you wanna explore more of the market or the brewery, etc next door. For more, see @sipsandsizzles on Instagram

New place getting its feet under it. Had a very good macchiato. Good addition to the East Rock Market.

There were packaged items, hot items and cold items as well. I ordered a honey lavender macchiato and it was absolutely delicious. They took my order and then called me when it was ready. It was a little bit loud in there so I didn't head her call my name but it was still hot when I went and checked to see if she called me. That was not her fault. I could have stayed closer. You need a code for the restroom and there is only one single stall. The code is on the bottom of your receipt. I really like that each thing lists ingredients and calories. I love when places do that!

Most chairs were up on tables, but a few tables had chairs down and people sat at chairs in the front. When we went up to the register, my friend got excited because they were playing a song she really liked. The employee told her to "calm down" multiple times in a very rude tone. We bought a piece of cake, it was a bit expensive for a small slice ($7.75) but we noticed a student discount with proof of Student ID. One of my friends had her student ID on her so she showed it, my friends also got excited about the discount and we were told to "calm down" again. Then another employee told us that the discount didn't apply to cake or macarons?? Weird. Seems convenient, since those were the only things left in the case. Anyway, we bought the cake at full price, and my friend went to find forks for the group. She asked one of the employees behind the counter and he very rudely said, "Have you tried looking behind you?" So rude. I asked for a plate to make it easier for us to split the cake slice, and the first employee told me they were closed for eating. No mention of that or signs about it before we purchased. We had to leave with our cake and ended up eating it outside on the street. I'm not happy with this place, it looked so cute at first but honestly not even worth the trouble or the money.

And now that I know, I can't wait to return. I met a friend for a morning meeting here on a rainy day and this was the perfect cozy atmosphere to enjoy espresso and friendship. We opted for a flat white and macchiato. The staff was extremely welcoming and made sure we understood that they make an authentic macchiato, not the commercialized version which gave us a chuckle! The macchiato was perfectly crafted as well. as the flat white, complete with gorgeous latte art on top. I was expecting great coffee, which they delivered. What surprised me was the spinach quiche. I wasn't expecting anything out of the ordinary, but I've basically been dreaming about this quiche since I've had it. Light and fluffy, it more closely resembles an egg bite/sous vide egg bite since it does not have a traditional quiche crust. However, it was fantastic with great spinach flavor and a buttery and cheesy finish. DROOL. The space is so inviting, clean, cozy with plenty of different options for seating; from intimate nooks, to upholstered chairs and couches, to plain wooden chairs, there's something for every comfort level. I cannot wait to come back here with my laptop to get some work done, and will definitely have more coffee dates here!

The space is beautiful with lots of chandeliers and a mix of wide open seating and a little nook, all of it decorated with many fun paintings. The coffee is quite good. I had a flat white last time and it was very good. Kinda pricey, but good quality plus I got to enjoy the shop's ambiance for a while. Also worth knowing, decent amount of outlets, kinda slow wifi.

Along with the panini came a unique salad it was well chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, (another veggie or fruit was in there but I could not tell what is was) and a garlic oil. All of the food arrived cold, and our table was initially given the wrong order. After it had already been handled, the staff took it back and served it to another table, which raised serious concerns about hygiene. My cappuccino was also served cold, and the coffee itself was very acidic and not enjoyable. Instead of making a new one, they poured it into another cup and reheated it with the steaming wand--even though I had already taken a sip. That felt unsanitary and unprofessional. Overall, there were multiple issues that suggest poor food handling practices. I wouldn't return.
