Best matcha in the DMV area & easily my go to, moving forward. From the ambiance, the service, & the matcha itself -- it's a 10/10 overall. I ordered the Grounded Matcha (so yum) & a tee to support the business (cute aesthetic & message). The girl at the register was super helpful & even offered my dog a cup of water while we waited. Not 100% if they are dog friendly, but they didn't have any issues with him being in there while holding him. They have a plethora of plants to choose from & plenty of seating to relax and catch up with family & friends. Will definitely be adding this spot to my list for anyone visiting me in DC. The wellness studio I didn't get to see, but will absolutely be back to catch an event in the near future.
This is a great shop with excellent customer service. It's quiet and small, and I love the plants throughout the space they make you feel centered. I had the almond croissant, which was amazing. I'm not sure about the parking, but this place is definitely on my list for my next visit to DC. They also have a great menu. I went on a Saturday morning and a Yoga class just ended.
What a gem of a Black owned coffee shop! I love that it's more than just a café, there's also a plant shop and even a yoga studio, which really adds to the whole experience. The atmosphere is super zen, relaxing, and peaceful, with thoughtful decor and a calming setup that makes it easy to unwind. There's ample seating, with a mix of tables in both the front and back, plus some bench style seating. My only small critique is that the benches could use a bit more back support, they get a little uncomfortable after a while. But maybe that's intentional lol. Didn't notice any outlets nearby either. I tried the viral grounded matcha, and it was good! The usual grassy flavor of matcha is really well balanced here. That said, I'm not fully on the matcha train, so I probably wouldn't order it again, but that's just personal preference, not a knock on the drink itself. Parking wise, there's some street parking just beyond the shop on a side street, but it's limited. Overall, it's still a great spot to hang out, get some work done, or just enjoy a peaceful moment.

It instantly felt like a neighborhood spot where people were working and some were sitting at tables for 2 engaged in conversation. The staff was kind and helpful to a first timer like me. I told them I wanted cold tea and he recommended one that was so good! Blacker the Berry was sweet and delicious. Highly recommend. They also sell items from individual vendors and have information about them and their goods. I would absolutely go back here over and over to meet friends and enjoy tea and coffee.

SPACE This space is filled with beautiful plants everywhere (that you can aso purchase!) and has plenty of seating without feeling crowded at all. I love that much of the seating is bench style with cushions to maximize space and flow. They also have a yoga room in the back where they hold classes - so cool! DRINKS They're known for their matcha, so you know that's what I got! Clove Matcha - I loved this, like a chai spiced matcha (I got it hot) Grounded Matcha - my friend got this - sweeter with the butterfly pea powder flavor and fun blue color! FOOD They had a few pastries, but was quite picked over by the time we arrived late morning. Lovely little matcha spot!
I love it here and so happy we have such a beautiful space in the neighborhood. It has such a good vibe and always have wonderful service. I've purchased a few plants from here and they are all doing well. I love how they offer services to ensure your plants are well taken care of. Their matcha is sooooo good. My favorite is the Grounded Matcha but they also have seasonal specials. I had the Earl Grey Hot Chocolate and that was also yummy. I haven't tried their wellness classes yet but hope to catch one soon. This is a solid choice to do some work, catch up with a friend, add/start your plant collection, or just come and get grounded.
I like this place for the drinks and ambience, but not the plants. As a houseplant collector, I find their selection to be limited and inconsistently priced. In December 2025, they were charging $18.99 for a 4 inch pothos. That's highway robbery! However, the larger floor plants like monstera and fiddle figs were $60-70 which is very reasonable for the size of the plants. My favorite drink has been the earl grey hot chocolate. I'd order that one again. I know they are known for their matcha and I'm glad to have tried it, but it's not the best I've tried in the city. Matcha lattes have been inconsistent as I've ordered two on different occasions (just plain matcha lattes) and one was sweet and the other wasn't. When I asked the barista they told me the drink isn't served sweetened which was confusing because the first one I had there was sweet. The grounded matcha was too sweet for me and I wasn't sure I'd like it based on the description but I'm a sucker for cute instagramable drinks and it's beautiful. It wasn't horrible it's just very sweet and the pistachio flavor was overpowering. Service can be a bit slow depending on when you come. Every time I've come there's been a line and only one person working so I definitely wouldn't come here if I were rushing. They also have mobile ordering through the Toast app. I've not attended any of the yoga classes but the studio appears to be clean and inviting from what I can tell.
Rating: 6/5 Its been years since I've walked into an establishment and immediately fell in love with the ambiance. This place is the meaning of warmth and comfort. Live plants and tones of green, concrete, and brown surround you creating a vibrant forest atmosphere. And the beverage menu is very unique. As a coffee enthusiast, I can appreciate a barista that clarifies they serve traditional macchiatos. I can't wait to come back. There's a yoga studio readily available for customers to stretch/decompress. I'll definitely utilize this when I come back to work remotely. There's a soft smell of incense burning that calms the senses and the music compliments that vibe further. Furthermore, there's a slew of community events on their calendar like sound baths and yoga sessions. What a gem!
This is such a great multi-purpose space - from a plant shop to wellness studio to cafe. It's so refreshing to explore a space where I can enjoy good drinks while feeling very hygge. The menu is quite extensive - I love how many matcha options are there. I highly recommend anyone in DC to visit this location - even if it's not inconvenient.

They need multiple locations for sure... vibe and atmosphere is refreshing, chill, professional and authentically friendly. Plant provides purified air and incense that calm the mind. Food is fresh and drinks are eccentric and refreshing. The wait time takes awhile... but it's worth it. read more

I have been here 2 times and I love the vibe. The first time I came I got an oatmilk latte with caramel and it was delicious. Today I got the salmon lox toast and it is so good! I love the plants (that you can purchase as well) and they have really nice staff here. Definitely recommend . read more

They had me at the first sip. An excellent hot Honey Lavender Latte while attending a panel. I was told this is the second favorite on the menu! I'm an evening coffee drinker lol Doesn't keep me up wee into the night unless I need it to. ANYWAYS! Me being here for a panel lets you know this is a multi-functional third space where you can be productive, and meet some pretty cool people. Zen. Wellness. Consideration, all in play here. I took a restorative yoga class at Grounded. The class was intimate and special. The lighting was celestial and transformative. I was offered an essential oil for my wrist. It was the right energy to kick off my birthday month. After class I had a delicious matcha pea and pistachio latte. They got the flavor right. I enjoyed the environment. As I was leaving it look like they were setting up for a music experience. I'll be keeping an eye on their event calendar. read more

Sesen was amazing! She provided great recommendations regarding drink selections. She was very welcoming and had a great spirit. The space overall felt very peaceful and would be a great working space. The music selection was also electric lo-fi. Yoga, mat pilates, and reiki services are available as well. Check the schedules for availability. Overall, I would definitely recommend Grounded! I will be back! read more
What an amazing space and business! From the moment I walked in a felt at peace. Not sure if it was the plants, the music, the energy or a combination of all of those things but it was like walking into a space that many of always dreamed up. It was so nice to see folks checking out the plants or gathered together for a catch up at one of the many tables to enjoy your matcha. But what I really picked up on was that this was a place to genuinely foster community. I ordered the Grounded Matcha which caught my eye immediately. Since it's made with butterfly pea flower, it's certainly vivid and eye-catching. The good news is that it's just as delicious as it looks! I can't wait to come back and recently began following them on social media. I look forward to supporting and learning more about their programming in the future! read more

While visiting DC my cousin took me to Grounded. I love matcha and plants. This spot was perfect. The ladies were so sweet at the register. Everything was delicious. The incense burning had the place smelling so good I purchased a box! I wish we had something like this in Cali. read more

Finally made it into Grounded after the endorsement from Neighborhood Alchy. Long time matcha lover so when I saw they had a blue matcha, I knew I needed to try it. The vibes are immaculate there. Love the staff, the decor. I got the Grounded Matcha and the Clove Matcha both iced with almond milk. Amazing. The Grounded Matcha was great. A little spin on iced matcha -- it has pistachio flavor and butterfly pea tea in it. The Clove Matcha was my favorite. It was a like a matcha and chai mash up. I hope they grow their capacity! read more

Grounded is such a cute coffee shop! All the greenery makes it even better. I've been here a couple times and it always a vibe. I came here with a co-work group to get out of the house, get with done and build community. A few of the girls love the lentils patty! I had the almond croissant and it was delicious! We met the two owners and she gave us a tour. They host yoga, Pilates etc. here and she spoke to us about how intentional this space is. Everything from the color, plants, design, the architecture has a story behind it. Overall, I will absolutely be back! The music is always matching the vibes and it's a great comfortable space to work! read more
Kept seeing this place pop up on my feed and decided to give it a try! Very nice coffee shop filled plants. They also have a wellness center with yoga. The latte itself was so good. I heard the matcha is delicious so I'll have to try that next. Definitely will pick up a plant or two and try the classes next time. read more

I love an amazing concept and Grounded is surely that. Part coffee shop, part community event space and part wellness space. Obsessed! Plus the vibes are always high and it's a Black, women-owned space. What I loved, * The layout of the space is very unique * plants are everywhere :) * playlist was 10/10 * customer service was amazing with the barista being very knowledgable about the menu and making recommendations * they host cool community events like plant swaps, chess clubs and specialty yoga classes What I didn't love as much, * parking can be toughhh, I circled the block multiple times to find parking. When I did find parking it was in a little side lot and there was a guy there just constantly checking peoples meters to see if he could ticket them or not (boo, tomatoes, tomatoes) Because of this I probably wouldn't stay long at Grounded, just quickly grab and go * I got one of their specialty blue matchas. It was so tasty initially and then I had the worst stomach ache. Not sure if my stomach didn't like the milk or the matcha but I probably wouldn't get it again. If you've been before what other drinks do you recommend? Looking forward to joining an event to really be able to connect with other locals. And also looking forward to joining a yoga class. i love this place. a space with a beautiful clean, green space that feels light and vibrant when you walk in. it triples as a plant shop, cafe and wellness space. i visited on two occasions. once on my way in from my travels where i needed a moment to work. and i tried the beloved grounded matcha. i was hesitant at first as im a new matcha girly (recovering habitual chai drinker here). but it is soooo good. the butterfly pea flower gives it the blue hue and the matcha is ceremonial grade all the way from Japan. tried the lamb patty and a pecan cookie. both were perfect. my partner got the lovers rock - a blueberry chai that i was pleasantly surprised by. the staff is super knowledgeable. and assisted me in making great choices for my taste buds. shout out Ed for giving us a special tour and being super helpful. second time i visited i returned for a matcha and to my surprise there was a live dj playing nothing but hits so im definitely a happy customer. will def come back again and again. whenever im in DC. read more
I came here with a friend who was looking to support black business and buy some house plants. It's a very open and modern-looking shop with a decent selection of houseplants for sale. They do not come pre-potted so expect to do some repotting. The barista was very knowledgeable on care instructions for the different plants and helped my friend make a selection of which plants to buy. He ended up choosing two medium/large snake plants for $60 each. After choosing plants, we ordered some drinks and small bites. The barista insisted I'd like the matcha latte, so I ordered that and an almond croissant. He was right and the drink was so good! He heated up the croissant for me as well, and it was a nice light snack. Nice plants, good drinks, good service, nice space. What more can you ask for! read more

I love Grounded! Been a supporter since the pandemic when they were online selling plants so I love the fact that they have grown into a brick mortar store. I even still have my plant from 2021! And it's thriving! My favorite drink there is the blacker the berry, but I also love their Matcha. So delicious! I want to try their patties next. Black woman owners Mignon & Danuelle have done an amazing job at crafting this space and supporting the community. read more

Calm, serene and full of green! Lol I'm cheesy. I stopped by here for the Restore Mat Pilates with Keirsten. It was well needed! I enjoyed the ambience, coziness and energy that the studio gave. It's so welcoming, and relaxing. Keirsten also brought great energy, the music -- playlist was everything and is a great instructor! She was very attentive and hands on throughout our class. I can't wait to return to Grounded as well as take more of her classes. Shoutout to the staff for being super accommodating with my friend and I! That speaks volumes about their service and character. I tried the grounded matcha latte per Keirsten's suggestion and mannnn you have to try it! I wish I could have one right about now. It's so good. I highly suggest stopping by to support this business! You won't be disappointed. read more
