This is a very cute space with a great beer selection. Our beer tender was awesome. He was super friendly and knowledgeable of all the beers they had available. I had the Cobb salad and my husband had the Ruben. My salad was solid and my husband enjoyed the Ruben. The atmosphere is lovely and we will 100% return. read more

Tried this place for the first time today. Menu looked good online and the Untappd listing was solid gold. Chris took care of us very well. Had a vegetarian patron along with me, and they were super accommodating. Got a taster of the vegan chili which was surprisingly good. Egg salad sandwich was nice. Had the Dirty Doug sandwich, very good panini with beef hash. Cucumber and tomato salad was nice and fresh. Place is on the small side, lots of games and touch tunes juke box. The tomato soup was watery and terrible, the chicken salad sandwich was disappointing. It was loaded with so many shards of lettuce which was cut like coleslaw cabbage is cut- the tasteless chicken salad was pushed out of the sandwich. The dessert- chocolate cake was very good, obviously made somewhere else- like many restaurants do. Subway is much better IMHO! read more

Stopped by for a quick bite while I was in the area and was floored by how good this Reuben tasted. A classic choice at many deli's, yet Doug's Reuben was the best I've had in a long time. Priced at $12.99, it comes packed with corned beef, kraut, sauce, cheese, between marbled rye bread with complementary chips and pickle. I swapped out chips for Mac salad which I didn't think was worth the extra 3 dollars but that is besides the point. The sandwich itself is enormous but the ingredients are incredibly well balanced! Front service is ran by the owner's mother who is super friendly. They were pretty busy during lunch with most orders being placed over the phone for pick up. Once you order, the wait wasn't long and she'll bring the food to your table. She's very proud of her son (who owns the Deli) and she should be. He makes a killer sandwich! Not very much seating in this place. A few places downstairs and a few upstairs. You have to order sodas from the refrigerator. Sandwiches come with chips and no option for fries. So fresh! I ordered a turkey club and all the ingredients were so fresh. Wonderfully crispy bacon and super soft bread.

I am EXTREMELY disappointed. I took a bite of the sandwich while driving home and it tasted funny. Opened it up and noticed it was dirty, not sure if it was dropped or the press wasn't cleaned properly. As you can see on the good side what it's suppose to look like, and the dirty side... not sure what that even is. So upsetting , god knows what I ate. read more

Since we're not from the area, we stopped at Doug's for a quick lunch due to all the great recommendations on Yelp. We were NOT disappointed! My 13-year old son devoured his very large Italian sub, chips, and pickles. I had the Reuben with a side of home-made potato salad; it was huge. Food was excellent. Service was fast. Grabbed sammies today for the first time at Doug's and what a good spot. I love a Reuben and this one was great. Perfect cheese to dressing to kraut ratio and extra thousand island dressing on the side! The thousand island was home made and the sandwich was toasty and delicious. Met the owner who was really cool and they have a great beer selection. There's a deli counter on the first floor and more seating upstairs. The true test will be the chicken salad....I am v picky about chicken salad so I want to see how it plays out here because I love a chicken salad sammy!!! read more

Awesome food, awesome beers and SERVICE! We had the Mediterranean salad, the Cobb salad and the BEST PASTRAMI SANDWICH! The sandwich had 1/2 lb of meat as promised on the menu. It's the only pastrami sandwich I've had in years that wasn't either rubbery or chewy or chopped up or shredded into tiny pieces that fall out of the sandwich as you bite it. PERFECT. You should definitely opt for the fresh crunchy dill pickle, because it's worth it. The salads were first class with fresh romaine lettuce and not a bunch of cheap iceberg lettuce. The salads had a healthy amount of ingredients, like fresh chopped tomatoes, boiled eggs, and FRESH bacon bits! Not hard, crunchy jarred bits. REAL bacon. The house made ranch dressing was so addicting that I even dipped my sandwich into it. The owner, Johnny (sp?) who actually waited on us, gave us the option of getting feta cheese in lieu of the blue cheese and goat cheese that actually came on our salads. I believe I had my expectations a bit too high. I ordered a Reuben. While not in the same league as Katz's, Doug's serves a well-made, good-tasting, reasonably portioned sandwich. For my personal taste, I wish they had cooked and seasoned the sauerkraut more (well-sauteed with chopped yellow onions. bacon, and a touch of brown sugar). The service was excellent and friendly. The space was small but clean and welcoming. I intend to go back and sample again. read more

Ordered two sandwiches from this place one being a tuna fish sandwich on a sub roll and I also got chicken salad on toasted white and both were fantastic and exactly what you would expect at a deli that knows what they're doing. I've been going to Doug's regularly for over a year now. I have never had anything less than a remarkable experience. John and his wife own and operate this joint with the help of family and a dedicated crew of the finest, ie James, Kyle, et al. Beer on tap: varied and changing regularly. Very good craft IPAs. Excellent wine and cider options. Food is excellent. Traditional deli to vegan options. I don't eat meat so there are excellent options, ie Caprese salad or sub. I love the egg salad. My family never tires of the stellar menu. Prices are extremely reasonable. Bar none one of my favorite places in Old Town, not to be missed. Nice outdoor space if you got a pup like me. I keep forgetting about Doug's - it's a low-profile place just slightly off the main drag, but I wanted a deli sandwich for lunch yesterday, so I dragged my husband there. The place was IMMACULATE, the service instant. I'd been there only once, so I wasn't sure how to proceed, but we were greeted promptly, politely, and helpfully ('Menus are over there, wine and soft drinks are here, beer menu above my head...'). I adore a good tuna salad sandwich, which is increasingly hard to find, and they had tuna salad on their menu. Husband chose an Italian, with a few modifications. Then it got tough. I'm usually a wine person, but they had a gose on their electronic beer board, and I adore a good gose. One sample later, I was a happy person. Husband chose one of my favorite ciders (Bold Rock IPA). Our drinks were served instantly, and our food came out promptly (and correctly, with husband's modifications). The tuna salad was EXCELLENT. Not only is tuna salad hard to find these days, but tuna that hasn't been drenched in mayo is even more of a challenge. This hit all the marks. My one caveat was the bread - it was served half-toasted. Not golden-brown and crunchy enough to be totally toasted, but not softly untoasted. A minor nit. My husband, who is PICKY about his food, devoured every bite. Also a quick note about the chips - I'm not a chip person, I tend to like mine kettle-cooked (extra-crispy). These WERE extra-crispy. Bonus points to Doug's! Overall, I'd give it a 9.9/10 (toast, or no toast, there is no maybe). We'll definitely be back soon, with friends! read more
