Summary: Soma Tile (Lucas) is a partner through the process and his team is comprised of skilled…read moreand courteous professionals. I would not hesitate in referring them to anyone looking for bath and tile work!! Preface: Let me start this tale with some background. This project was not an exciting "Lets update our 20 year old bathroom and make it stylish and pretty". Instead the project started due to an undetected leak, the stress that comes from random water leaking in random places, and was filled with questions and concerns. Countless others "assured" me that this was a plumbing issue or just due to some neglected maintenance on a 5 year old new-install shower - and then wanted to blast holes everywhere to "find" the leak. At the same time, I did not want to rip apart a shower to then find out it might be plumbing and now a full on repair. I felt overwhelmed in making the wrong choice and doing 2 projects chasing my tail. Lucas walked me through all the typical scenarios that he has seen, leaning on the most probably is a structural fail of the shower system and then did a methodical exploration. A couple hours later and a minimal demo, he confirmed that it was in fact not plumbing related and was def. a failure of the shower system -- and walked me through what it would take. Once his team was onsite, they were focused - creating a whole "clean room" at the entry to the bathroom. 1 day demo, 1 day water-proof, 2 days tile - all while providing the proper time for dry-out and leak testing between steps. Lucas is a perfectionist, being critical on the most minor details -- which to someone that also strives for this level, but has no idea what they are looking for, was very much appreciated. Additionally, he has instilled this value in his team - that are true craftsman with their skill. Each step of the process was walked through, discussed, and made sure we understood the task, goal, and expectations. This is why I say Lucas/Soma Tile was a true partner in this project, as it wasn't a fun project -- it was an overwhelming stressful start where Soma Tile helped take some of the burden and concerns off our shoulders and work it through with their own expertise, experience, and dedication - ensuring every step was executed with precision. Soma Tile knows their craft - Lucas is a partner, his team are craftsman. Huge Thanks to Lucas, Jesus, and Miguel -- not to forget Jose who magically appeared on the last day to leave the place spotless.

Lucas patiently reviewed design options with me and provided insightful guidance throughout the install. The attention to the smallest detail, combined with the use of a laser to ensure straight lines of tiles was impressive. No detail was overlooked! The color selection of grout was carefully coordinated with the tile. The workmanship is OUTSTANDING! The team demonstrated the same quality standards as they grouted and cleaned the tile repeatedly. Upon completion, Lucas, and his team cleaned the bathroom, and their work area. Soma tile was on time and a pleasure to work with! They truly are craftsman and take pride in their work. I would strongly recommend Lucas and his team.

They never told us any returns. We are now left with over 5 of 6 boxes of expensive tile we cannot use. I also suspect they charged me for tile I did not get because the contractor said they told him they ordered 3 extra boxes. I hope I didn't pay for those 3 extra boxes. They need to be clear there are no returns. I also got no receipt was not warned ahead of time about freight charges. Many of the items you can also order yourself online for much cheaper. You are getting no deal here. I feel so scammed. They also will treat you like a nuisance if you cannot immediately decide. One of the men told my mom when she called that he was very busy right now. P.S. In response to the business, anything can happen in a home improvement project. In my case, the larger tiles cannot be used on the dry wall as the dry wall is not completely straight. All other companies have reasonable return policies. Only edgebrook tile are this rude. Oscar hung up the phone on my mother. Shame. He was also so rude to my mom when we were shopping. He told her, "Think of me as a son giving you advice." This guy is probably close to my mother's age. My mom was born in 1966. No way Oscar is young enough to be her son. I was NEVER told they have no returns period. They in fact encouraged me to order extras!!! In since the tile I ordered is a popular one and unopened, they should have no problem taking back and storing if somebody else needs in the future. I also tried to talk to Oscar peacefully. He assumed I was my mother and started screaming at me on the phone, getting extremely hostile. I tried to tell him I am an attorney and know that sale of goods over $500 have to be in writing. In since I said this, he accused me of trying to scare him or threaten him. He is not well and has no respect for people who spend thousands of dollars in his store. My mother and I had to go to the store to ask for a receipt later. He never gave me a receipt in writing before the transaction nor did he explain the terms that there are NO refunds or exchanges. Almost all his products are special order as the store is small and he has nothing in stock, so basically everything in his store is NO REFUND OR EXCHANGE. Go elsewhere. You are better off going to Floor and Decor or The Tile Shop as they let you return unopened products within a reasonable time period. -RECEIPT NEVER EMAILED TO ME -WAS TOLD NOTHING ABOUT NO RETURNS OF EVEN UNOPENED BOXES -WAS NEVER TOLD THAT ITEMS NOT IN STOCK CANNOT BE RETURNED -CONTRACTORS PICKED UP AND THEY SAY THEY GAVE RECEIPT TO CONTRACTORS. SORRY, BUT THATS NOT ENOUGH. YOU HAVE TO LET CLIENT KNOW IN WRITING PRIOR TO TRANSACTION. -THEY DIDN'T LET ME KNOW ABOUT FREIGHT FEES. THEY CHARGED THOSE LATER. He is also claiming my mom used profanity. Never heard this. Oscar is the one who started screaming. My mom was talking kindly to the girl, she handed the phone to Oscar who started getting defensive, nervous, and screaming. That this man takes advantage of people during these hard economic times is sad. I'm now left with many boxes of tile I cannot use. Oscar had the nerve to tell me if he makes an exception for me, he has to make one for everybody. First, how would somebody else know? Second, he should happily accept unopened boxes from anybody especially when they are a popular neutral tile. I have never met somebody with such a lack of regard for others. NEVER WAS EMAILED A RECEIPT OR WARNED ABOUT THEIR POLICY WHICH DEVIATES FROM INDUSTRY STANDARD.

We hired Zach to remodel our bathroom April 2021 on the recommendation of my colleague Tamy. The week he started, we ran into an issue with the plumbing shut offs in our building not being marked, and since he discovered there was no local shut offs in the bathroom, we would need to hire a plumber. To be fair, he was clear from the get go that this might be a possibility, and we were prepared for that. When he called us to let us know a plumber was going to be needed, it was Tuesday around 5pm, and he said he would need someone out by the next day at 8am and that he had a friend of his who could do it. When we asked what the quote was, he told us $1200, which seemed really expensive to us. We asked if he could give us time to get some other quotes, and he seemed very adamant that he had to have someone in first thing in the morning - we ultimately found another plumber who came out in the afternoon the next day for $700 (the first plumber we contacted canceled unexpectedly). Though we felt bad about the delay and apologized several times, Zach seemed very annoyed by this, and mentioned multiple times that this was going to cause him another 1-1.5 day delay (although he himself then was unable to come in two days due to childcare issues, which we totally were understanding of). When we got back the following week, Zach had left the large mirror in the living room (safety hazard as we have a walking one year old) - we had to ask him a few times to remove this (while we waited we had to store it in our room). From the demo, there was damage on the wall outside of the bathroom and on the wall in our daughter's room (which is adjacent to the bathroom) - dry wall had broken off (see pictures). When we asked about this to see if this is something he could help us fix, his response was that it wasn't his fault, that the construction of our condo was poor. We noticed that the toilet was missing (he was supposed to reinstall this after the demo) - when we asked about where the toilet was, he informed us it cracked (again, he said not his fault but that our bathroom was poorly constructed). He had known it had cracked for a week and had said nothing, and then asked we have a new one purchased within the next couple of days. He did not spackle or sand any of the holes in the bathroom walls before he painted (painting 101), and when we brought this up he didn't fix this. When Zach couldn't find the mounting plate for the light fixture, he asked us to look for it. We told him that when we had left for our trip we had left all of the supplies together out in the living room, and asked if it was possible he may have misplaced when we were gone. Zach was adamant that he did not misplace anything, and proceeded to tell us that "this is exactly why I tell all of my clients to leave everything in the box". He in fact had never asked us to do that, but we tried not to argue with him; he seemed much more interested in being defensive than solving any problems that arose along the way. Per the contract, Zach was supposed to supply receipts and we would either be reimbursed or pay him what was remaining based on totals spent ($2000 paid to him upfront). I asked for these receipts several times, and though he said multiple times that he was going to send them, we still have not received anything from him. There are probably another 7-8 examples like those above, but the biggest issue was that Zach left part of the wall next to the shower incomplete, along with part of the trim and had told us he would finish this when he came back to install the faucet/handles (these were on back order until July). I let him know Wednesday July 28th that everything arrived, and asked when he thought he might be able to come back to finish. He didn't respond until the following Monday (Aug 2), and said he should have time that week. My husband then texted him Saturday (Aug 7) when we hadn't heard from him to ask him if he could let us know when he thought he'd be able to come. He responded Mon Aug 9 and said either Tuesday (8th) or Wednesday (9th). He reached out on the 8th and said that he ran into some issues, but would be over on Wednesday. At 4pm Wednesday we asked if he was still coming, no response. I finally texted him the following morning and expressed our frustration at the lack of communication, and asked if he would either let us know if he'd be able to come by the end of the following week, or if we wanted us to hire someone else to complete everything. He never responded (it is now Aug 19). Zach does not seem to have the maturity or professionalism to run his own business or to effectively work with customers. Unless you think you have a very simple job (in a home that is perfectly constructed with no potential unforeseen issues), I would not hire Zach.
