Israel (owner) responded to my request promptly, came by the same day, and provided us with a quote. He and his team (Pedro and Jesus) were responsive to questions, punctual, and extremely hard working. I like their electronic scheduling system as you know who is coming and when. They took care to keep other areas of the house and deck covered and I didn't have to do much clean up after they were finished which I really appreciated. The people Israel brought to put in the countertops were excellent. I was going to have Granite Expo do it at first because the price was a little less but 100% happy I changed my mind because I know the install would not have been done as well. Not only does our finished kitchen look great, it was one of the least painful experiences with a contractor we have had to date. So much in fact, we are having Israel and team do the bathroom next.

The original plan was to fill the divets and then seal the granite. The filling would not adhere so the next plan was to sand down the granite until it was smooth. That worked well. My only negative was that his price seemed to be on the high side but he and his crew of about 5 people all worked hard and did a great job. I will probably use him again when the granite needs resealing again.

John was, by far, the best we've experienced. We had stains in our limestone and porcelain that we were completely convinced were permanent. We had already given up on them. John came in, took a look, and somehow brought everything back to life. It honestly felt like walking into a different home once he was done. What I appreciated just as much as the results was how he worked. He was careful, respectful of our space, and clearly knows his craft inside and out. No rushing, no cutting corners, just really thoughtful work. The Grout Guys did an excellent job caulking and sealing several bathroom sink-to-vanity joints,…read morethe kitchen sink, and re-grouting my shower. They were quick, provided a reasonable quote compared to others I got in the area, and the work was good. I specifically waited a while to see if the grout or caulk would crack, and it's holding up well. I would give a five star review if not for a couple small things. Firstly, I was not informed up front when giving the quote that they only caulk areas where there is no paint. i.e. they can do the tub to floor, they can do sink to vanity, but they won't do vanity to drywall. I found out later that this is fairly common practice, so not a huge deal, but I did wish someone mentioned it back when I was getting the quote and not when the guy arrived on my door to do the job. So take note if you don't know much about caulking like me. Secondly - and this is the main reason I took off a star! I had a lot of items in my shower that I didn't have time to clear prior to the tech's arrival, and when I rushed to clear them, he kindly informed me that he could do so and I didn't have to. OK, great! Honestly the tech was nothing but kind to me but... I had a bin of clean laundry sitting near to the master bathroom door waiting to be folded. I returned a while later to discover that he had moved many shower items, most of which have a bit of soap stain or hair or other sticky shower nastiness on them... INTO my clean laundry bin and directly on the carpet! Needless to say I redid my laundry, moved the shower items onto a towel, and scrubbed the carpet after he left. I truly believe the tech had the best intentions, but I would advise removing your shower and tabletop things yourself if you hire The Grout Guys! Otherwise, the actual work itself was perfect :)

The grout had previously been done poorly and was covered with silicone caulking that collected a lot of mold and mildew. Everything looked brand new when Efran was done. The house was built in the early 1950s, the shower is small, and it had been retiled with poor quality tile (that didn't quite match the original, which is in the rest of the bathroom) decades earlier. The crew put in long days over a couple of weeks -- that's how meticulous they were. Although they had to troop through the house (and my bedroom) to get the job done, they were careful to keep everything as clean and undisturbed as possible. My new shower is perfect! I paid a little over $2K for 7 medium sized walls (mostly bathrooms). After the drywall patching was finished, the painting team returned unscheduled a few days later. I unfortunately was not in my apartment for the day, but they had already traveled over, so I had my sister let them in. I returned after they left a few days later and saw that one walls was not painted, there were spots that were missed, and they hadn't taped around certain areas (like light switch panels), as the paint didn't match, and it looked a bit messy. I then had to coordinate another time for someone to come back--understandably not an ideal situation for both parties!

So even if you call them for drywall, they can also do lots of other stuff - carpentry, paint, misc handyman, waterproofing, framing repairs, concrete, you name it.) Perhaps the thing that I like the most is how quickly they can accommodate and scale. While they were working on some cabinetry, I mentioned to their lead the flooring needed some fixes. Boom - their flooring guy is there the next day fixing the bad floor planks at the same hourly rate. They seem to have a large roster of motivated workers that show up on time and do the job to spec. I've had trouble with crews not showing or not finishing the job over the years - but not with Amador's. I was told long ago by family to never hire contractors on an hourly basis because costs can spiral. And before I knew what I was doing as a homeowner I might've been inclined to follow this advice. But Amador's charges a reasonable rate and works with efficiency - so this is how I work with them. I even trust them to let other workers into the house and report on their work. A lot of this comes down to whoever your point of contact is. On the most recent job, that's been Leo, and he is exceptional: attentive to detail, diligent, organized. In a way I'm sad my current project is ending - I just enjoy working with them.
