We play here every year and I must say the course was mostly a muddy, overgrown mess on Memorial Day 2020. I actually lost balls on the fairway on five AND six just due to overgrowth and/or trenches of water. I simply gave up on finding them. I gave up on those holes entirely. It wasn't worth the aggravation! There's usually planks of wood as bridges when cart play is allowed but we just had to drag our pull carts through all sorts of nastiness. I guess I won't return until a very long stretch of dry days. I really like this course and was actually playing decent until we hit the bog of #5. Not their fault but annoying was also the fact we couldn't even use a ball washer. Please take better care of the place. I usually really like it. One positive I can leave is that the port-a-potty I used was VERY clean and stocked with toilet paper and hand sanitizer. It was certainly cleaner than #5...

I love history and historical things, so it's super awesome that a course in WNY once hosted the US Open in 1912, but Grover Cleveland is a far cry from that. The last time I played there, the course was not in great shape and to top it off, my buddy and I had an early morning tee time and we got there to see that they had basically double-booked tee times on the course. At 8am, the first tee was backed up with about six groups ahead of us waiting to tee off. There was a group of "boomers" trying to skip everyone because it was their tee time even though there were a bunch of us with earlier tee times who had been waiting. They were yelling at a group of kids to get off the tee when it was the kids' turn. Our round took six and a half hours! They over-charge for the course conditions and I feel as if it's just because the course once hosted a US Open. I'm laid back when it comes to golf courses, but Grover Cleveland was very disorganized and seemed dysfunctional. It would take a lot for someone to convince me to play there again.

    #7 fare way!

We went for lunch based on reviews. Would give 5 stars for service but the food was 2 to 2.5. Fried…read morebanana peppers were good enough for a frozen product: the portion is big (as is the price) so good for a table but not an individual appy. Beef brisket on weck (their version of a Buffalo favorite Beef on weck) was very underwhelming! Smaller than average bun with equally small amount chopped "smoked" beef brisket where the smoke was almost undetectable. The bun was loaded with course salt on top which thankfully brushed off easily. Where's the horseradish sauce? Nope. None. Or so it seemed. Served with seasoned potato chips which were tasty but were ungodly salty. And.. wait for it... 3 see-through thin pickle chips in a separate plastic take-out cup which probably cost them more than the pathetic pickle they put in it. Why bother? So not to sound entirely negative the Grilled cheese with beef brisket was the winner and would be worth a reorder. Upgraded to Truffle fries which were also a pedestrian from-frozen frozen product also with way too much salt but were tasty. But then truffle anything is good. Bottom line: Not going to rush back except maybe to hear some music and a refreshment; maybe share a basket of deep-fried breaded banana peppers. Warning: If you have high blood pressure you may want to be cautious because of the salt overload in seemingly everything. If you want a really good Beef on weck go to Flavor Restaurant located on Buffalo Tournament Club Golf course in Lancaster. (No I am not an owner OR an employee just a foodie!)

Sight lines in the venue for the stage are great and the sound was good. They also have a full dinner menu and although we did not order any food the food we saw being brought out looked and smelled good. Will definitely be back for the food to give it a try

The guy working the club house said it was in the best condition of all the area courses, and he was not kidding. He also said "in general, don't miss right" which was also partially true... but really, he could have just said "don't miss" and it would have been just as palpable. The course is not very long for the most part, but is well protected by hazards. These manifest as natural reeded marsh, ponds and creeks, large pot bunkers, and just general woods. Accuracy is at a premium over distance, I think I only hit driver off the tee three times, opting instead for 3 wood or 3i hybrid in the majority of cases. The greens were immaculate, true rolls and good speed. In general, the course was very well maintained, the staff kind, bathroom breaks convenient and clean, and the drink cart girl showing up right when you needed her services! The starter let us go as a twosome without having to wait and be paired up, yay! We also hit a small bag of balls on the practice range before the round, and found it to be in good shape as well. We would absolutely play this gem of a golf course again.
