I went to Tifft Nature Preserve a few years ago, but somehow I missed this gem. In fact this whole area looks different than I remember. There's bike and walking paths, volleyball courts, a kayak launch, and a beach where you may or may not be able to swim...which is to say we saw people and pets wading and swimming long before we noticed the posted signs saying it isn't allowed. Neither is ice skating if you're there in the winter. Definitely wouldn't defy that rule. There's an interesting assortment of real rocks and fake rocks for climbing, a couple of slides, what looks like a deliberately deconstructed greek column, and even some smaller "benches" that look like they were modeled after ancient Greek ruins. Definitely want to do family pictures here someday. Parking is free. We went on a Friday and nabbed one of two remaining spots in the lot, but there was plenty of parking still available along the side of the road, including closer to the ferry that takes you to Canalside. Oh, there's also a beer garden that serves wine, soda, ice cream, and snacks. Beautiful park. Definitely a must-visit in downtown Buffalo.

Spacious and quiet outdoor area, great for dogs or kids to run around. There is ample field space, chairs and paths for walking, biking etc. i love how the "beach" is perfect for dogs (the sign says no swimming or wading) but its a great chance for a dog to be in water for free. The views of the water and downtown were lovely. The park is well maintained, cleaned and not crowded. We went on a Sunday morning around 11 AM, and it was pretty serene. There's also plenty of spots to sit and relax, which could be cute reading areas. There is also a little kids area with slides. Amazing spot. A little windy so I recommend bringing a hair scarf or hat.

Nice walk, windy! Flea market located a little further down on the weekend. Definitely windy and would've liked a beanie! Beautiful although I'd like to try bird island pier!

I'm not sure what the Pointe of this review is, unless you'd like to hear about my new invention. It's an alcoholic drink, 50% Whiskey, 50% Milk. It's called "Wilk." My son and I are going to open a store that sells it. It's called Wilk & Son. What do you think. One of the most beautiful and unheralded places in Buffalo. This "Pointe" sticks out into Lake Erie close to the mouth of the Niagara River. You get great views of downtown, of all the old factories and General Mills, of the Skyway, and of all the wind turbines, Good times. If you come here at night, though, prepare to be seriously creeped out. The wind spoons make a scary creaking noise and you'll feel like you're in a horror movie - see my video to see what I mean. Then again it can get creepy in the daytime too, as when I was here there were cute girls in micro bikinis complaining to police officers that a man had been stalking them and making lewd, drunk remarks. Happens to me all the time when I wear micro bikinis, so I feel their pain.

I think this may be my new favorite summer spot in Buffalo. On a nice sunny day, it's the perfect chill spot to hang out. Amenities: -lots of grass -a huge beer garden with plenty of waterfront seating and lawn games and music playing. Small snack bar and both local beer available on tap and as well as cans. Dogs welcome. -a kayak rental booth and kayak launch -bike rental hut -lots of scattered picnic tables -cool wind sculptures -playground and slides -two volleyball courts -good space for kite flying -great spot to watch sunsets Seriously what else could you want!? There is a small lot located at the park, but there is also plenty of parking space along the street assuming there is not other huge event happening at the outer harbor.

Really nice park with several places to sit and picnic while you look out at the water and sailboats. I was there for a craft fair and would've never known about this area otherwise.

Wilkeson Pointe is one component of a changing Buffalo. Although this waterfront city is slowly shaking off its rust belt stereotype, there are some large iconic rusty numbers standing in formation. Robert Indiana died earlier this year and this display of his cor-ten steel numbers are a fitting memorial.

Came here just to relax by the water and get a nice little breeze on a hot summer morning. It was nice and peaceful not many people there when I went on a thrusday morning. There are signs stating there is no swimming at this beach.

This park has a beach area, huge lawn, playground, beer garden / snack bar, restrooms, bike trails, bike rentals, kayak rentals, paddle board rentals, and even a real kayak launch (in the water, not just pushing off from the beach). Really an enjoyable space. Some people let dogs go off leash, though they do have signs up requesting dogs to remain on leash (I think it's for the city leash law).

I am so happy I discovered Wilkeson Pointe Park this past summer. Back when I was a UB student, the Outer Harbor didn't really exist and now that I'm back, it's as though a whole new world is open to me. No matter where you live, if you're in the Buffalo area, Wilkeson Pointe Park is a necessary element of the summer experience. I spent lots of time at the park in order to take advantage of free fitness classes, mostly yoga, but a few boot camp type classes as well. I loved practicing yoga with the water in the background, imagine total serenity and oddly enough, you get it at the Outer Harbor, even though you're almost literally underneath the skyway and the General Mills plant. I would make it a point (Pointe?) to get there early to just enjoy the sailboats drifting by and to claim the perfect spot where the sun wouldn't get in my eyes during my vinyasa. There's a small parking lot by the boat launch, and plenty of spots on the road leading to the park entrance. My advice would be to carpool if you can, when there's an event, the place can get packed. If you don't have your own kayak, there are rental available, and you can also rent bikes for the winding path. Next summer I plan to take advantage of these amenities, but if I don't, walking the path is just as nice. You'll also find plenty of outdoor activities, I often watched volleyball games and groups running around through the fields. But my real favorite (non yoga) activity? Just sitting in the Adirondack chairs scattered along the beach. Grab a book, and a beer if the beer garden is open, and sit back and enjoy the spectacular view and appreciate that this hidden gem of a park is a hop, skip, and a drive over the skyway from downtown. It's so easy to get caught up in a busy day, and I could just sit in those chairs for hours. Actually, I did do that one day before yoga. Wilkeson Pointe Park is a must do for the warmer months, and I plan to spend plenty of time in yoga class, reading, or just enjoying the scenery. Take a few minutes to enjoy the hidden gems of Buffalo, you'll be glad you did!

You have to walk across a bridge over Three Sisters Creek, and down a sandy trail past the dunes to get out to the water. The restrooms are near the parking lot, so best to use them before trekking out to the sand. Bennett is a good sized beach with a decent length of shoreline. I love walking in the sand, and Bennett has a good stretch to easily get in a mile or two if you walk up and down the public area. One side of the beach is clearly posted, whereas the other side is harder to tell where private beach starts. Anytime I've walked down near where homes are, it doesn't seem to be an issue. I love the beach. My husband loves to fish. So we end up at Bennett often because Three Sisters Creek keeps the hubs happy to cast a few, and I can head out to the shore. He hasn't pulled anything huge out of the creek here, but any day fishing is still a good day of fishing. He enjoys himself here. As long as you don't mind a bit of a walk from the car to the water, Bennett is a beautiful beach for swimming, strolling, sunning, and/or fishing. Hauling a huge cooler or a lot of gear out to the sand is a chore here, but once you're out there, it's well worth it.
