JerrDan is a complete jerk. Parked in front of my parking garage to fix a flat tire and refused to move his truck so I (and others) couldn't access the garage. He was politely asked to move his truck and was irritated at even being asked. He made me sit in the car and wait for about 10 minutes until he finished changing the tire. This would be the last place I would call for a tow. read more

Last week my car died and after self-diagnosis we deduced it was the battery and replaced it ourselves. When the battery died again this week I figured it was the alternator and needed a tow. AAA dispatched Grube's and I was really pleased with them the whole way. I didn't catch the woman's name who dispatches for Grube's but she was great - very reassuring and gave me a plan A and B to get my car out of a complicated parking structure. Mike was the guy who actually came out to tow and he was friendly and professional from the get-go. He got my car out and delivered it to the shop. A little while later he called me back and mentioned that my car started fine for him and that the negative terminal on the battery was loose. He wanted to give me a heads-up that it could be that and not a pricey alternator repair. Turns out, he was right and my car was fixed quickly. I highly recommend Grube's. Ask for Mike. read more

I unfortunately was in need of a tow truck this morning. AAA dispatched these guys for me. The driver I had was pleasant, helpful, and quick. His confidence was appreciated as I know nothing about cars, and I was already stressed out from having this happen in the first place. The driver was a bit late, however he did call to let me know this was the case. I can't review cost, as it was taken care of by AAA. As a few other Yelper's agree, beware of the woman doing the initial phone intakes. She bites! Agreeably, she was just as condescending, disrespectful, and argumentative as others have pointed out. Most surprising is that AAA contracts with Grube's to provide roadside assistance to AAA members in the Milwaukee area. I've been a AAA member for years. During this period, I have never dealt with a customer service agent who instead of reassuring a customer , caused additional unrest. Hopefully, after my call, AAA will take action to alert the business owner of multiple instances of this same behavior. Suffice it to say, anyone calling Grube's will be in a situation where they require help. Mine was a dead battery needing a jump. Circumstances notwithstanding, customer service needs to be at the top of the list. Grube's failed to provide it. read more

I do not Grube's managment with dispatch and that one of its techs was sent out to my home with the correct to a battery for a Chevy volt and spent 45 minutes looking for the Lithium battery and would not call in to Grube's for help . AAA dispatched a tech for " battery replacement service." Grube's has a contract to provide the service I have a Chevy Volt, with both accessory battery for the starter and lights and a lithium batter no one should ever touched. The starter batter is routinely replaced under AAA service plan for "battery replacement." When the tech arrived at my home with the correct starter battery. However, ) he was confused and thought that he was replacing the lithium battery. I was in another room and he called me in and asked me if I knew how to replace the battery. I explained that Volt has 2 batteries and the tch was not replacing the lithium battery, and needed to call Grube's for help because they are familiar with the Volt . The night before I had to call Grubes twice and paid $140 out of pocket to jump my 5-year-old battery. The night tech was very helpful as Jason had always been in the past. George told me to call in the morning for battery replacement service which was a covered AAA service. I followed the George's instructions and my car ran throughout the day while I awaited batter service and 3 hours for Grube's to dispatch the tehcn. I kept the car running. When after 45 minutes , the techh called me to come down, asked me how to change the battery and was looking for the lithium battery, I called Deborah in dispatch and explained their new tech needed help. Deborah said "look you have a specialty car. I am cancelling the call and calling AAA" stating I I had not "let" the tech work on the car. She refused to check with another Grebe Tech To top it off, the inexperienced tech for some reason opened the driver door, trunk and hood ahs left them open during his 45 minute confusion so that the weak f-year old accessor battery was drained. Debora told me she was inserting in the report I obstructed the tech (who had been alone with the car for 45 minutes). She filed a false report to AAA as to the cancellation. I am sure management was available and wants to ensure the tech that was sent knows how to change the starter battery in a Volt, to call in for help and not to touch the lithium batter. I am not sure this will reach management, so I have posted online, with tripe AAA and the BBB to make sure I get past Debra and a response from a skilled tech cofnirmng that the Volt is not a "specialty car" and Grube's ineed services it and has placed itself on the AAA list to carry this art. read more

Would be fine if they actually sent a tow truck. All I can say is that after waiting on a tow truck for about an hour I called and they said they never sent it. The woman who works there told me if I didn't like the way they do business I should call another company. I haven't used Grube's for towing service. However, when driving home during rush hour last evening on the Hoan (SB/EB), there was a Grube driver assisting a Saab on the right side of the road. Rather than simply getting the car onto the truck, he took the time to scream and swear at many (or all?) of the cars unable to move over to the center lane because, well, it was rush hour. While I'm empathetic to his position and fear that at anytime he could be hit, every driver appeared to be doing the best that they could to move over. He was yelling so loud that my child asked "what's a "F-ing b-word?" Perhaps I should have answered me or the lady in front of me. There are many other tow services in Milwaukee and I will give my business to one of the more professional ones. read more

Needed a new battery in my car - Grube's came and the tech who came to install the battery told me that it was not my battery that was the issue, it was my alternator and showed me numbers of a test he ran on his phone which he said showed a failed alternator. He said I could not drive my car and that it would not turn back on if I turned it off. Well, I was going out of town so I left it for a month and came back to my car turning on immediately. I brought it to my trusted auto shop who informed me there was in fact nothing wrong with my alternator and it was running at the correct voltage. Frustated by the misinformation I was given by the Grube's tech. read more

Having had the unfortunate occurrence of having my vehicle towed a time or two (or three or four), I found myself away from my primary AAA club and needing to use the services of Grube. As promised by the local AAA, they arrived in exactly 45 mins from me placing the call. However, this is only point where they earned the one star. Derrick the driver pulled into the driveway, got out and said gruffly "what's the problem" (not a gmorning, hi I'm Derrick, nice day, man you drive a piece of crap"). Guess he's not a morning person. So while he proceeds to prep my car, he pulls out a clip board and says "sign this", to which I reply, what is it? His reply "it's a release", to which I say "what kind of release". He says releasing the vehicle to me...I tell him I'm riding with him (as his demeanor thus far would prompt me to walk back from the moon before letting him roll off with my vehicle), irritatingly he replies you have to sign it. Hesitantly I sign, and he goes on with getting the car ready. I run in the house, grab a few things while he lowers the trailer, he then takes my key and spends a few seconds trying to find the ignition, I wait a few more seconds as he fumbles around looking for where the key might go in the right side of the wheel and I chime in With a "hey, let me help you with that". He curtly replies help me with what!?! Finding the ignition I reply. Where is it? It's right there in front of you on the left side, it has a button so you only need to have the key in the vehicle, I then say "hey man, I'm just trying to help, I recognize your helping me so we're on the same team here." He replies your the one voice gettin all high...he switches the car on, shifts into neutral, then tosses the key on the seat with attitude. He gets the car up on the trailer and then fumbles around looking for tie down points. Gets the car all chained down, and had I not been standing probably would've pulled off. I hop into the truck to listen to the blaring rap music station which eventually just shuts off. He fidgets with the radio a few times but no sound. So we make the 12 mile drive in silence. He drops my car off, hands me the key, and then gets read to leave when I ask him for a receipt (note he didn't offer). Look, I dig having a bad day, but that's no reason for poor customer service. If Derrick is any indication of how Grube towing conducts its business, I will ensure next time I need a tow, AAA finds me a different company! read more

Had to have a friends Harley towed on Friday night. These 2 guys showed up exactly when we were told they would. They were friendly and knew what they were doing. (As I am also well trained with a tow truck with many many years of experience, but that's what AAA is for). They treated the bike like it was their own and they payed fine attention to detail. A parking brake cable broke and left me with a Volvo wagon that needed a tow. I called AAA and they sent a Grube tow truck with a most capable and courteous driver. The car with the frozen wheel was on the flatbed 45minutes after the AAA call and we were off to the repair shop. It is always wonderful that expectations are exceeded. Today I had the worst customer service experience I have ever had in my life. I ordered a tow truck through AAA and Grubes picked up the order which I seriously regret. The driver arrived 3 hours late and had the worst attitude of anyone in customer service that I have ever encountered. He literally attempted to take the car without letting me know he was at my home. No verification of ID or even to ensure he had the right vehicle. I ran out my house to let him know i was the person who called for help and as soon as I said "Hello I'm the person who called for a tow". He replied "you ain't riding with me". Not one time did I say I wanted to ride with him or enquire about riding with him. This person ended up leaving the vehicle in the street right off the freeway and refuse to move it to a safe location. I ended up paying another driver $120 to pick up the car. I would not recommend this place to anyone! read more

The worse Tow company. Horrible customer service, they all speak terribly rude to customers. Took over 4 hours to show up and then said they wont drive in an alley! A complete waste of time. Horrible customer service, terrible timing compared to what was promised, and the dispatcher flat out made up attempts to contact. When I asked questions to try and understand what was happening, because it was far from the norm, the dispatcher simply got snotty with me. Absolutely incredible service My vehicle wouldnt start in a very small parking garage with a very steep incline. I had called Grube's and let them know the situation. The woman had very nicely asked me a couple questions and also gave me all the information on the tow. The tow truck showed up very quickly and the exact time she had told me. The tow truck driver was very polite, listened to my concerns with hooking up the vehicle, and made me feel very comfortable. They charged me a very fair price and i was extremely pleased with the service. I had been on the phone with another tow company for 2 hours before them, and i was able to have Grubes on the way to me within 5 min. I will %100 be keeping their number in my phone, and calling them for whatever towing needs i have in the milwaukee area. We needed a tow late last night around 10:00 pm, and the tow truck driver for Grubes was very professional. He hooked up our truck in just a few minutes, and towed it 30 miles away to our farm. He followed behind us the whole way there to make sure that he would get our truck to the right location. He did such an awesome job that we tipped him some money! Will certainly use this company again after finding out that AAA dispatched them to us after another company refused to come help us. read more

My fiancé had to leave to Boston on business. While driving from Oshkosh to the Milwaukee airport, her vehicle suffered a mechanical break down, and in order to catch her flight, she had to park her prized auto in an empty lot. Needless to say, tears were shed as she taxi'd away, not sure of how we were going to get her car home home. AAA dispatched Grube's Towing for the 95 mile haul. Per towing protocol, I had to meet them in Milwaukee to deliver keys and proof of ownership, but as soon as they took over, they were nothing but helpful. The office and the tow operator were understanding and attentive, and before you knew it, my fiancé's car was back in Oshkosh. Late at night and unsure of where to take it for repairs, we opted to have it left at our place while our decision pended. They even went as far as to back the tow truck into our garage and unload the vehicle there. Thanks to Jerry, Katie, and Grube's Towing for helping us make the best of a bad day. read more
