Best REUBEN SANDWICH that I have ever eaten! I am not qualified to grade, but people say it is authentic to New York (NY). I inquired and can confirm the main ingredients actually come from NY: Rye bread, pastrami, corned beef. They also have bagels from NY, and you can buy bread/bagels to take home! Ok, let's discuss this REUBEN masterpiece. They have a few Reuben options, and I selected the NY Reuben which seemed like a good idea and comes as a triple decker. A good sandwich starts with good bread, and this IS GOOD BREAD. This rye was soft and didn't have the strong spicy rye flavors, but rather just a mild flavoring...which I really liked. The meat is critical to a Reuben and I can attest that the Pastrami and Corned Beef was phenominal, tender fall-apart deli sliced cuts of meat with incredible flavor. Next a Reuben needs good dressing. I don't know what the dressing is, but it was heavenly. Put all of this together and you have a cravevable meal that will bring you back again! I am not a COLESLAW kind of guy, but this stuff was through the roof! It was not sour like many make it, rather more creamy and watery. It also had a slight sweetness, albeit it wasn't sweet. The seating environment is clean, open and yet has a slight cafeteria feel. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, even though there were many customers at the lunch hour. My server, Amanda, was easy going and helpful when I discussed menu with her. She was not like some waiters that are not helpful in saying "it's all good". Whenever I get the chance to have matzo ball soup, I don't pass it up. Even if it's the middle of July in Atlanta, I order the soup. No regrets. It was delicious. We really enjoyed our lunch there! Rode our bikes, in the Fresh Market center. Everything looks well tended, inviting, and nice outdoor seating too. I read the story of the NY owners from the website. We wanted breakfast but they stopped serving breakfast at 11. The lox bagel was perfect. Hubby and boys said phillie was amazing. I did not like my veggie wrap- too much italian dressing. I stole some fries and they were excellent. Great service- our server kept saying we could carry takeout on our bikes. This is what I call a pretend New York deli. They have all of the right stuff. They just do not know how to make anything that tastes good beyond a deli meat sandwich. Service is very friendly and attentive but not enough to go back. I have given this place several attempts at serving me a good lunch but to no avail. Today was the worst. So I was in the mood for a breakfast sandwich and I happened to come across this one. That was not too far. Now I wanted a breakfast sandwich but I also like New York style sandwiches. And you get plenty of those down here! I didn't eat dinner the night before so I tried a couple of them and they were both good. But before that come I pulled up to the parking lot and the parking lot was in a shopping center and parking was free. Now it's not a big lot, so just keep that in mind. And there are a couple other establishments here that may draw a little bit of a crowd, but at least it's free parking. It's near an apartment complex, so if all else fails, there's parking elsewhere. Walked in and got acknowledged immediately and everybody was super friendly. It was a good setup and a easy menu to read. I looked at the menu and ordered and she asked a couple of questions of me and I answered those and then I was there sitting and waiting. The waiting area and the dining area was pretty spacious, it's more spacious than you would think. There are a lot more seats in the facility but you really can't see that from the parking lot. So you have to go inside to see how deep the restaurant goes. If you wanted a larger group or anything like that you could seat them here. Or if you just want to sit down on one of the couches and hang out, they have space for all that. Sausage egg and cheese - So like I said I ordered a breakfast sandwich because that was what I was feeling like. So I got the sausage, egg and cheese. It came pretty standard, nothing flashy or anything like that but it was a pretty good savory sandwich. The meat felt like they could have added a little bit more to it to give it a little more thickness and fullness, but savory wise it was really good. You know how sometimes maybe you may get a sandwich with a Patty of meat and then the bread expand wider than the meat on the sandwich. So you take the first bite and you don't actually get any meat, it was kind of like that a little bit. But once you get into the sausage part of the sandwich, it was really good. I'm not shading it at all, I would order this again honestly. Mardi gras - The Mardi gras was really good. It was very sizable, but not overly powered with nothing but meat. Great food and prices. I am from NY but my family is from LA. We love the New York style food at Gruby's. The portions were large and tasty and I have a big appetite. One thing I've truly missed since moving from New York is a classic bacon, egg, and cheese. Did a quick Google search and found Gruby's NY Deli--and let me just say, they did not disappoint! It's been so long since I had a proper Kaiser roll, and biting into this sandwich instantly brought me back. Overall, the bacon, egg, and cheese was really good, and I'll definitely be back for more. The Rueben was great but the "tomato bisque" was clearly Campbells tomato soup with some extra tomatoes in it and the chicken salad was in no way a chicken salad. Gruby's, I will be baaaaack! While waiting on my prescriptions at the pharmacy nearby I was curious to see what else was in this plaza. I was looking for some breakfast eats/bagel but once I looked at some of the reviews and menu I had to go with the pastrami on rye. I'm also a huge cole slaw connoisseur (self-proclaimed) so had to order that as a side item. Also heard the fries were good and I'm a fries connoisseur(again, self- proclaimed). Golly... I've worked in the Perimeter area for a bit chunk of my career and I'm embarrassed and mad at myself for missing this deli when I worked in the area in years past! I have to start off by saying I'm not a big sandwich person. Many of my close friends and family know this so when I say a sandwich is good, best you believe it that it stood out to me. The sandwich wasn't huge but damn...that pastrami with the cheese was so flavorful and moist (not too heavy too!) and the rye bread was on point. It was soft and fresh which I love fresh and soft bread. The fries were pretty good too. Generous portion when you get an order of it. Would definitely recommend eating the fries best. Now the cole slaw needs a paragraph just for itself.... the cole slaw was soooo good!! My only regret is not ordering a larger size. It was creamy and crunchy just the way a good cole slaw should be. It was a great pairing with my sandwich. I didn't get to try what my hubby ordered but whenever I glanced over at him in between my time admiring my pastrami sandwich he looked like he really enjoyed it because he was heads down chowing down and ate it pretty fast. Everytime I come to this deli the service is always fast, accurate, pleasant, and such a great experience. Not to mention the food is actually good. My favorite thing to get is the sausage, egg and cheese on a Kaiser roll. My only complaint is I wish it had larger or more sausage.
