Anyway, it's been close to ten years (if not more) since I first visited the Grove and it's always been a good time! I love this place! Everyone that works there are awesome! I enjoy performing my poetry and sharing stories on and off stage. The strength comes from the top, you know the trickle down effect. For example, today after my performance I sashayed over to the wurst food truck to pick up my food and I was great with a smile from the owner elbow deep in fry's dogs and in the pit! Rarely do I see owners jump in to help the team in the trenches... I reckon I recommend this joint! read more

Great little spot and the food was fantastic for a food truck. The frozen margarita was on point. I had the bartender add some jalapeños and it hit the spot. We had the brat and the bbq nachos. A friend and I recently decided to meet at Gruene Grove as it was close to being the halfway point between us (Austin and San Antonio). When I arrived (6PM on a Friday), it was a bit difficult to find parking at first as they only have a small lot, but I was able to find a spot in the Gruene Grill lot next to it within 5 minutes. The venue itself was already pretty crowded but that made it even more fun- everyone was socializing and having a good time. Seating is limited, but if you wait just a bit - you can snag a table. I liked the open air patio and the way everything was laid out- such a cute place. The young lady checking IDs at the front and all of the bartenders were extremely friendly and happy to help with whatever you needed. I ordered a Deep Eddy Lime Vodka w/ Club Soda and my friend ordered a Dos Equis - we got them quickly and they were great (as to be expected). Live music began around 7PM and was good as well. The music was a bit loud so it was hard to talk to my friend but we enjoyed being there regardless. We will definitely be back! read more

Food-Wurst Food truck. Their queso and chips were great. But this isn't the bar to come and find the best bites. Bring something to eat. Music-5 stars for always having great live music with a few different genres. Generally these places play American but they had a great band playing songs from the 50's and 60's! Bar-Bar in the grove area is fine. Drinks are fine. Bar down in the basement is cool. Drinks are a little over priced. Service-Bartenders have always been good. Restrooms outside are HORRIBLE. The ladies room outside has two restrooms with signs that say NOT to flush toilet tissue down the pipes because they have old pipes. So there is a trash can next to the toilet with poopy tissue. Thus very stinky! Went to wash my hands and there was stagnant water in the sink. It was only noon and there were no paper towels. Husband said men's RR was very unkempt. There are also lots of kids here. They run around and play in the fountain and drink the water. It's crazy. read more

The Grove is a wonderful venue that during the day it's just hidden enough to avoid the crowds. In the evening it's a different story. During the day there is plenty of space if you are social distancing. There is plenty of shade under the pecan trees and fans to help you beat the heat. Their bloodies can't be beat and there are a few interesting taps for us craft beer drinkers. They do have a full bar with some drink specials. They do have a music stage and there is live music later in the day and in the evenings on the weekends. Hangry? There is a bratwurst food truck on premises. There is also a basement speakeasy, but I'm not sure if it has reopened. read more

What a fun spot! They only sell beer wine and seltzers but that was fine with us. The live band was great and Nate was the best! He was such a nice bartender and helped us decide our next bar for the night when they closed down. They had big coolers of free ice water and the bathrooms were clean. After a show at the Gruene Hall, we wandered around town and stopped by the Gruene Grove. The Grove has indoor and outdoor options for eating and drinking or just relaxing. We opted to head to cellar for the speakeasy. It was a nice place to cool off on a humid evening and enjoy some craft cocktails. Drinks were good with a generous pour although not inexpensive by any means. The atmosphere is fun and there was a guitar performer just leaving as we came in so you can catch live music in the speakeasy apparently. Recommended. read more

We went to Gruene Grove because we read that they had a good happy hour. Unfortunately, we found out they DO NOT have happy hour, and the drinks were expensive and not that great. The food truck had good brats/sausages. I had the Italian with peppers & onions and enjoyed it. The pretzel bun was very good. We also shared chili cheese fries - which were also good. It was nice to sit outside on a beautiful afternoon, but the tables were small & shaky and the chairs uncomfortable. read more

If you're looking for a relaxing place to listen to live music, this is the place. It is an outdoor venue so be prepared for the weather. When it is cooler out, they have fires going so it's not a problem. They don't serve food but there is a food truck that has items available. I haven't tried that yet so can't review the food. The bar is well stocked, but they do not have table service so you do need to go to the bar for drinks. A great spot in Gruene TX. read more

Sure, it's dim and furnished with remnants from a 1920s movie prop sale, but it's the bartender and little bar that make it a speakeasy On my first visit I ordered a sazerac that was prepared with the kind of artful dedication that only someone who appreciates the product and process can create. Gruene Grove is awesome. This is my first time that I've been there and I'm so excited that we went! We got to downtown grand on a beautiful Saturday afternoon after a really cold few days in Texas, which we all know doesn't fly with us! They had a really cool live girl that was playing guitar they had great outdoor seating for standing and sitting. They also had a fire pit that you could sit close to the fire if it got cold. The bartenders are absolutely great they made really awesome drinks and you didn't have to wait in line too long to get to the bartender. I would definitely come back and visit this beautiful little piece of heaven right in the middle of what seems like nowhere! read more

Margarita was decent and I loved the band - Ace Pepper Band. It was also a beautiful night to sit outside - but I couldn't find a seat. It was a little busy, but they have a huge courtyard, two bar setups, plenty of shade, but they have hardly any seats. This is a nice outdoor venue and the only reason I'm not scoring higher is that it serves the absolute worst frozen margarita in town. They are so tangy that my wife and I ended up dumping them out and for $12 each that wasn't cool. Everything else was great though. read more
