The menu features plant-based, health-conscious, alcohol-free drinks, teas, and coffees. She patiently explained the health benefits of each tea option, which I really appreciated. The first "bula" is on the house--a ceremonial tea drink served in a coconut bowl. It was surprisingly creamy with a little tingly after-effect that warmed my tongue. The barista even took the tea shot with me after a shared toast to good health and a cheerful "Bula!" Such a thoughtful way to welcome guests and make the experience feel personal. I ordered the cold brew coffee with added kava, which is said to help stabilize blood sugar and reduce stomach upset. All the creamer options are plant-based, so I went with macadamia nut milk, sweetened with a bit of maple syrup. The coffee itself was delicious--smooth, rich, and refreshing. But then came the sticker shock: my 16oz coffee rang up to $12 before tip. That's more than I've ever paid for a coffee in my life--and I've had some pretty epic brews in Vienna, Florence, Budapest, San Francisco, and NYC. Despite the price, I'd definitely come back--if only to introduce my family and friends to the vibe and kava drinks.
