Broke a spoke coming to work in uptown whittier came in and paid. Quoted 1 day turnaround, took 3 days for a 700c spoke. Upon return i was told i did not pay, mr g then remembered me and told me i didnt "pay tax" i had to give him 3 dollars extra for a 20 dollar job i already paid up front. The spoke was supposed to match my black ones, it was silver. I questioned why it didnt match, Mr.G told me i could spray paint it black. I guess im just a pleb, come here if you want to spend big and talk about the glory days. Avoid it like the plague if your blue collar, or ride a beater bike. Positive note my wheel spun true, i just felt like Mr.G got over on me. I kept the invoice for proof. read more

Got my first Giant Hybrid here last fall and I am completely satisfied with the bike and customer service I received along with it. The guys in the shop were informative, patient and overall friendly during my experience there. They filled me in on everything I needed and even offered suggestions for bike routes and trails. When I need that future cycle service or a new bike I know where I'll be going. They also exclusively sell Giant Cycles because simply put, Giant makes some of, if not the BEST bicycles in the industry. You're not gonna be paying Target prices over here, but then again you're not gonna be getting a Target bike. G even delivered the bike (fully assembled with my purchased additions) to my home in Whittier.. I can't ask for anything better! Recommendations: Get off your couch potato ass, save the environment and ride a Giant from G's! Warnings: Parking in downtown Whittier can be a bitch sometimes and the shop is pretty small, so don't bring a large group in. read more

Love my bike. Bought it here 2 years ago. Has not given me any problems. I paid about $600 for it. Well worth every cent. Came in and they showed me what they had. The 29" wheel black Giant bike caught my eye right away. Told them to ring me up because I'm taking it. They pulled it out, gave it a quick wipe, and made sure all the components were working properly. I was really happy with my purchase. I also drop it off when ever I need a tune up. I drop it off and it's ready the next day for me to pick up. Can't complain. read more

I'll no longer be taking my business to this guy. I've since learned his name is Ernest and that he seems to be composed of nothing but attitude. It turns out his "I've been doing this shit way too long" attitude applies to everything. My problems with him now are numerous... 1.) I asked him to order me in a Camelbak Lobo, figuring if I ordered it from him I'd get it sooner than I would if I ordered it on the internet. I ordered it from him on a Friday and he told me he'd have it by Monday. On Monday I called him and he said he'd call me back, but didn't. On Tuesday he called me and told me he'd have it by Friday. On Friday I called him and he told me he'd put in an "off season order" and some of the items he ordered would take longer to get here so he'd have it next week. At this point I was pretty pissed. After another week it finally got there, and I paid $75 for it, straight MSRP though the price sticker he put on it said $79.99 so if I hadn't bought it he would have over charged someone else for it. I could have ordered it online for about $60 shipped and gotten it sooner. 2.) At the same time I asked him if he could order me in a Torker unicycle, and he said sure, no problem, and I told him to get me a price. When I talked to him a week later he said he'd have to make a Torker account because his current one expired (apparently this guy likes to sell Giant bicycles only, so he doesn't maintain accounts with other cycle companies). After that I never heard anything about it, apparently he's forgotten about this completely. Don't think he cares about business or just doesn't take me seriously. 3.) He's pretty belittling. I've tried talking to him about unicycling a few times, and this last time when I talked about going mountain unicycling he told me that I "should get a real mountain bike" because they "get speed" and "catch air" ('cause obviously I unicycle because I care about those things). Then he proceeded to tell me back in the 80's he picked up unicycling on "his second try" and then went on about how he's just "automatically good at everything" he tries. 4.) I took one of my unicycles in for a bit of a tweak because the wheel wobbles and I think the rim untrue. Without even looking at it he told me "it's probably fine" and that his mechanic was going to be gone until Wednesday. Not a big deal, but he didn't even bother to look, just gave me the brush off. All in all... this is a good place to go if you want someone to cop attitude at you, treat you like a nuisance, belittle your hobby if it doesn't fit in with what he thinks you should be doing, wait forever to receive items you order from him, and pay MSRP or more for all the items you need. As such, I will not be coming in here anymore. read more

These people are not very helpful. They don't seem to care for your business. I asked them if I could return the bolt set if they didn't fit and they said they don't take returns. How can a shop/store not have any return policy what so ever? I was looking at this mtb bike and was having a little trouble putting it back in the stand and he starts yelling at me saying it was a $7000 bike and that I can't afford it and that he shouldn't have let me touch it. Its kind of rude telling your potential customers what they can or cannot afford. He was blowing everything out of proportion, the MSRP on that bike is $3700. The owner has an EGO and obviously doesn't know anything about treating customers. I'll take my business elsewhere! read more

Mostly a Giant retailer, and even then they don't have many in stock...saw that they had two flagship high end bikes in stock...a Giant Trinity time trial bike, and Giant dura ace Di2 road bike...and that's about it on the wow factor of this place. They don't have much of anything else....guess they got bored and started a Hot Wheels inventory behind one of their counters...the shit they have is so random in here too. There are a few one-star reviews below that look to be written by folks who are new to cycling and/or maybe have a poor idea about what repairs and parts cost. Don't believe the hype. The fact is we're fortunate to have a local shop here in Whittier with better-than-average inventory, more-than-fair prices for parts and repairs, and an owner and staff who know bikes. This is not a huge corporate shop, so sure, you might pay a little more for a tube than you would at a national chain, but frankly I'd rather have that money stay in the community and keep this shop going. I've always received straight answers and good service from the staff at G's, who are professional and respectful and knowledgeable -- despite what some of the one-star reviewers claim. Bottom line: If you want $3 tubes for your bike because the thing you care most about is saving money -- and you also want a greeter at the door because someone flashing a smile at you is your idea of what constitutes 'good service' -- go to Wal-Mart. If you want the right, quality part or your bike fixed by people who know what's up, go to G's. read more

This is a small shop but pretty complete. I needed new pedals and they had the type I wanted with straps. Also got a second water bottle rack. Okay, so far this is all pretty pedestrian stuff you could get at any bike store (pun intended). So why the five star rating? Well, I knew my brakes were wearing out so I asked him to check them, and asked for a quote on new pads. When I came back next day to pick it up, he told me the brakes only needed adjusting. He could easily have sold me something I didn't need, and that level of integrity earned these five stars. read more

I've purchased two bikes from here. The price was lower than elsewhere. Recently, I was calling around to get service on disk breaks and this shop was able to help me right away with an excellent turnaround time. I had called other shops in the area prior to visiting this one. One shop said can't help you for two weeks bcus we are too busy and the other shop just said they weren't servicing bikes in a rude manner. Great service, great prices, and very good a communicating and keeping me informed. They promised and they delivered. I've been to Gs many times. Mostly for minor fixes or adjustments on my bike. They can frequently get the work done while I grab lunch nearby. Work has been well done and reasonably priced. I wouldn't go there for a bargain on bikes or equipment, but that's not what small bike shops are about. read more

i had a horrible experience here today and i will never come to this location again or suggest that anyone else come here again, because of this bad experience. i came in with my front wheel in hand and asked the pony tailed owner how much a new tube and replacement would cost. his answer (in a whiney voice) was "do you need it NOW?" ... no, actually, i would like to wait in your shop for a few hours while you figure out whether you want to fix my wheel... YES I WANT IT DONE NOW! and he wasn't even busy, he was sitting in the back of the shop on a folding chair watching the news. so he fixed the tire (which took about 20 minutes for whatever reason) and then charged me $12 for it to be done. Why it was so much i have no idea, but the most expensive i have ever encountered (before coming here) was $8 for a tube replacement (including the cost of the tube) maybe i am overreacting, but this experience really got to me today and i will NOT be returning to this location ever again! read more

Everything needs to be ordered and he doesn't keep much as inventory unless you are looking for toy cars...what kind of middle age man collects toy cars ? To charge 9.00 to install a tube sold at a very good markup doesn't create repeat customers. A shop that wants to foster goodwill would loan you the tools and show you how to change tubes as well let you use the pump to get you back on your merry way. read more

The owner is well informed, although a bit opinionated. He does have personality but I treat most of that as "theater" and so long as I'm get the service I need I consider it entertainment - in case is something like watching a Bruce Willis movie, attitude with a touch of humor. His mechanic is great and I suspect the owner is also a pretty good mechanic. He only has Giant bikes, which are quality and not cheap, and if you have to settle on one brand Giant is a good choice. The shop isn't big enough to have a reasonable inventory of different brands so he made a good business decision. I don't think you'll go wrong if you buy something off the shelf, most of what I see is quality at a fair price. I've brought my bike in for tune-ups and adding new parts. The work has been done properly, the prices were fair, and the time to complete was pretty quick. Other riders in the area (who are generally serious mountain bikers) that are familiar with G's highly recommend the shop and I haven't heard any complaints at all. So there you go, if you want a good solid bike shop that does good mechanical work, provides a dependable inventory, experienced management, and a little entertainment G's is as good as it gets. read more

I was out in the area running errands and remembered sewing a bike shop on greenleaf. I had just purchased a stroller and I needed a special hose for my front tire, so I decided to go in. I asked if it was possible if they can please fill it up. When he came out he said he also filled my back tire with a little more air. I had already filled them with air so not much air was needed. I paid $2 for the front tire. as I am driving home I hear an extremely loud and scary bang. I thought someone three a rock at my window and I shattered. I pulled over to check the car but found no damage. I continue drving and get to my destination. I pulled out the stoller and the back tire popped!!! mind you, I never needed it filled because it was already full! I called the shop and explained what happened, he apologized and said he would fix AND charge me!!! uh, no thank you!!! you popped my tire that never needed air and you want to charge me?! poor customer service, do not recommend this place. read more
