I heard mixed reviews, but decided to try them. Right off the bat, whomever waited on me was not pleasant. Not rude, but definitely not friendly nor displaying appreciation toward a customer. Throughout the entire exchange she was very short and her 'have a nice day' was totally unbelievable. I thought to myself, these cookies had better be good, as I had already wrote this business off as a return customer. Well, no, they were very dry. Decent flavor, but it didn't make up for the crumbly texture. Now, some people like dry biscuits. I don't. So, although I don't like to leave a poor review, I wanted to let people know that these cookies are on the dry side, and more importantly, I feel a business owner should have a better personality when dealing with customers. The red velvet were the best of the regular kind but the macaroons were the way to go all around. I hoped that the cookies I picked up to go on my way to Saratoga would be moist, they were dry n crumbly. Reminiscent of an Italian wedding cookie that grew and was altered. read more

Yoooooooo. I love lemon cookies. I grew up in an Italian family, so lemon cookies have been a staple of celebrations and get-togethers for as long as I can remember. More recently in life, I've relocated to the West Coast, where there is sadly a dearth of Italian pastries, so whenever I'm back in my hometown, I'm thrilled for the opportunity to indulge on faaaaar too many lemon cookies and other traditional sweets. My family recommended checking out this location -- a cute but decently spacious slice of the downtown Amsterdam area -- during my recent visit, and they did NOT disappoint! They serve coffee and plenty of pastries, and the two folks working the day I stopped in were both kind and patient while I perused the MANY flavors of cookies in their case. Their flavors range from traditional (lemon, lemon with sprinkles!) to a bit more experimental, exciting, and even seasonal (cotton candy, maple, and eggnog, to name a few), and they. are. DELICIOUS. I couldn't narrow down my selection very well, so I ended up opting for a full dozen, which was reasonably priced. The cookies come frosted and are HUGE -- plenty to split in two to enjoy on two trips to the cookie box, for sure. The cookies were pleasant and moist, and the frosting was a great consistency. Heck, even opening the box of cookies just hits you with a delightful smell of lemon and makes you want to shovel the whole dang thing into your mouth! In addition to the lemon cookies, they also offer other pastries and cookies, such as another favorite -- half-moon cookies, and you can CHOOSE whether you want a vanilla or chocolate base cookie for them. Stopped in while traveling on the Thruway for a quick bite and coffee, and it did not disappoint! The coffee was great, and we had a sampling of baked goods - some of the freshest, home-madiest cookies and muffins, and some of the best we have had. The owner, Gina, greeted us warmly, and we got to talking about her business. She told us that it had always been her dream to open a place like this, and she really has succeeded. A nice vibe in the place, easy street parking, and reasonable prices. My wife had the chili, and I had the chicken soup special - they were delicious. And obviously made that morning... You can get some burnt coffee at Starbucks, mediocre cookies, and find some cruddy soup at the local Stewarts. Or you can spend less, eat and drink better, and support a local business. First, let me start by saying the cookies probably deserve 4 stars. They are pretty good. A little sweet, but the flavors are unique and tasty. The coffee is also very good. The interior is cute, especially considering what it looked like previously. The customer service was kind of shocking. I was helped by the female owner, I know this, as I've seen her picture in the media, and she just had no time for me. And I was one of two customers. I'm not sure if she was having a day or what, but it was 10:00 am. Customer service is vital in a small place like this, considering it's a less than ideal location to hang out. The owner barely acknowledged me when I entered, continued a personal conversation for a few minutes, finally comes up to me with a sigh and says "yes, what do you want?". I say 6 or 7 cookies. It ends up being 6 and she nastily goes "guess it was six then!!" With more sighs she asks "anything else?" Gives me the check, I pay, I don't tip for takeout and nasty service. I'm still smiling however and trying to be nice. She looks at the receipt, and tip line, rolls her eyes and says "alright, thanks" in an annoyed tone. Doesn't say come back or have a nice day. The cookies aren't good enough to come back. Might have if the service was welcoming and kind. Stay away and drive to a Schenectady bakery or better yet make your own Grandma's lemon cookies. They're probably cheaper and tastier. read more

What a find in Amsterdam!! Was passing through and only staying the night but needed a refresh in the morning and supposedly the best coffee and lemon cookies in town. Not disappointed, in fact we stayed and tried some of the best homemade, fresh baked goods as well. Do not miss the chance to visit this place I promise there is nothing not to like. Our new favorite coffee shop/bakery. Ordered gluten free bread and pizza last visit, and swung by to pick it up later. The bread was so good we nibbled on it all the way home. Went there yesterday after looking for any place within a 10-mile radius that served lunch food. While I was skeptical of the place at first, the owners were both really kind and the food was delicious. The carrot cake especially was the right kind of moist and super flavorful. I like it here even though I don't actually care for their lemon cookies. However, I had some chocolate cake that was to die for. I like to grab a coffee and some baked goods and sit outside on Main Street with a friend or two. It's nice and I recommend it for when you want to get together with a few others at a reasonable rate and just enjoy the outside. read more

I just found this place and got a doz of assorted fruit flavored frosted cookies. Base of each was a yummy vanilla cookie frosted generously with frosting- I tried lemon, lime, orange, stars berry and raspberry. All a hit, all yummy. Will be back! read more
