This place is gross. We went on a Tuesday evening and not during a school break time, so it shouldn't have been busy enough to warrant the completely full to the brim trash can, the filthy floors with popcorn and stickiness everywhere, and the smell of urine in the hallway while walking to the auditorium to see the movie. It was very warm in the auditorium too, which definitely did not help with the dirty and musty smell in there. The auditorium next to the one we were in was so loud we could hear it in the auditorium we were in and it was loud enough at times to be distracting. It's really too bad. This place could be great if the management and staff there cared at all. read more

Beacon Cinemas is a very old facility. It needs some upgrades and a good clean up. The restroom floor had popcorn spilled all over it, and the seating was worn out. I suppose with the labor shortage the cleanliness is the first to slip. But the big negative was the previews. The volume was way too loud and my ears were ringing for quite a while afterwards. Very old outdated seats that have a very dirty feeling some of the arms are even broke and non-reclining seeds very uncomfortable. This not a very cleanly environment. Even horrible tasting popcorn. I see that it's been a while since I did an update on this theater. They do have a loyalty program and I have almost enough credits for a free movie or popcorn. The concessions have a good variety of food and the theaters are very clean and comfortable. They have a really huge theater for movies like Star Wars. They have a full bar which is very nice. I could not have been more disappointed. It was extremely dirty, the seats were terrible. The trash was full past the brim, garbage on the floor before we even got into the theater. the seats were ripped up, small spaces. It really needs to be renovated. The sound system was horrible. You could barely hear what the characters were saying but then the music would be so loud. The amount of money you pay to see a movie, these little issues should not be existent. Im truly disappointed, it ruined the movie experience. As much money we spent as a family to see the movie and now we have to wait until we can rent it at home to really see it again and hear everything the way it was intended. A lot of people talking, there was zero personal space had kids kicking the chairs, that's not controlable by the movie theater but it was genuinely a horrible experience. Truly disappointed, I definitely would not recommend and won't be back. That movie theater was atrocious. I don't have the words to describe how disgusting. read more

Excellent movie theater! I came here on a Tuesday morning to see a movie with my three young children! Tuesdays they have $6 movies all day and if you sign up as a rewards member you get $3 popcorn and $3 drinks on Tuesday as well! The theater was clean and the popcorn/drink area was clean and sanitized as well. The theater itself has quite a few theater rooms and a bar/restaurant to order food and drinks which you can take in the movie with you. We will be back again soon! read more

Fix your ticket kiosks they've been down for months! One working kiosk is not enough! Or go to digital tickets, save some trees!

This has always been my favorite theater to go to, it's cheap and has great concessions options. It's nice and open as well. We alway make the 30 minute drive to come here when we want to watch something! I also love that they've started doing theming/decorations for new movies coming out. read more

Nice theater. Good staff. Pretty clean for the most part. Certain times of the night, the crowds mights be a little questionable, enough for law enforcement to be there. Some people like to linger around outside stirring up stuff sometimes. There is a bar in the back which can be good or bad. It would be nice if parents would stop bringing newborns and toddlers to ADULT movies. Most annoying thing to drop $50 for a movie and popcorn only to hear a mom and her screaming baby. It's not a day care center or your house. Happens 4/5 times we see a movie. read more

Smoke was pouring out of the air vents during the trailers, room filled with horrible burning smell. Staff had no sense of urgency. Took 20 minutes for them to even acknowledge it. Something for sure was burning in their ceiling and they did not care. Offered free passes to make up for it but I'm not going back. read more

I have been to alot of theaters and this one has to be the worst. My niece and I went to a 10pm showing tonight of The Spy Who Dumped Me. Movie was great but the theater was horrible. Not only was there a big black mark in the middle of the screen and at the bottom but the theater was filthy. There was garbage everywhere and it looked like it had not been clean all night. The staff was unfriendly and when we left there was literally no one lobby or anywhere to be found. Additionally the seats are super uncomfortable. I will probably never go back and would not recommend this theater to anyone. read more

Read other reviews and expected more. The "bar & grill" at the GTX theater consisted of the same movie theater fare that you get at the regular Concession with a few extra options. Would have been nice to know that before entering the ticket line and expecting to have a real meal. Was also under the impression that it was a full bar, but they only served wine and beer. The GTX theater had nice seats, wide rows, big screen and decent sound. Overall an OK experience but probably won't make the trip back there. read more

This movie house is clean, comfortable and the staff are friendly. The Lobby is kept clean and the bathrooms. The seats I sat in are new. They have an option of leaving the arms up so you can cuddle with your honey if you like. The Dolby sound system is awesome! A bit too loud for me but great sound. Also the place is FREEZING! I will wear a winter coat next time. My only problem is $11.72 for a Matinee Senior discount. For a movie in the middle of the day, in the middle of the week with only a few people attending this seemed unreasonable. You would think with a lower price they might get more people in. read more

I don't go out to the theater often but when I do it's a fun nostalgic experience. Food and ticket prices are about expected for a movie theater. The place is dated and is in need of upgrades but every business is struggling - movie theaters especially since movies are being released to rent from home quickly now. Even if the place is dated that's no excuse for not being as clean as they can. It's up to management to keep tabs on the workers they employ to make sure they do their job - don't expect a bunch of young employees to actually do their job if you aren't there to supervise them. read more

Oh Beacon, I remember back when I was in middle school and you opened, wowing the entire county with the novelty of stadium seating. I remember spending Friday nights in the 8th grade sitting on the railings by the parking lot, waiting for Mom or Dad to pick me up from a fun-filled night of movie watching with my newly co-ed crowd. What a thrill it was to step inside your doors once upon a time. Well, now that I'm all grown up and moved out, now that I've experienced real movie theaters, it's pretty clear to me the Beacon of my youth is really just a second rate, run down, poorly managed movie theater. But stadium seating is a rarity in Hernando County, so I'm giving you one more star than you deserve. read more

The theater is so much better now that it has been refurbished. Seats are leather now and a lot more comfortable. The lobby is much nicer now and the concession stand is cleaner. I will enjoy being the kids here more often now. read more

This review is being written after our most recent visit to see Wakanda Forever.... (Great movie, worth a watch) I think this theatre does well because they're one of two in the area, so it's not like the competition is stiff. When We first moved to the area 8 years ago, the Theatre was recently renovated and in great shape. 8 years later, some of the theatres are in ok shape, but the management seems to have let the place go quite a bit. Many of the theatres have chairs that are worn through the fabric, so, It's a craps shoot as to whether you're going to get a theatre that's in good shape. It's also clear they don't have anyone checking the restrooms on the regular, cause both of the restrooms had some gross stuff happening. We were in theatre 1 to start with, and every few minutes, the air conditioning would kick in, and there was this irritating buzzing noise that was extremely distracting. We tried moving to the other side, but I couldn't stop hearing it, especially when the movie got to the quiet parts. So, when we did mention it, the manager did come check it, but didn't do anything about it. (In his defense, you can't fix the air system in the middle of a movie, but why is theatre number 1 still open when the air conditioning system is loud enough to be an issue?) so, we finally went to the front and asked to be switched to another theatre which was playing the same movie. Thankfully the movie we were seeing was being played in multiple screens, and the one we switched to was much better. But this proves my point. Why keep the theatre rooms that need repair open when you have multiple screens? Also, the management did let us switch, but they acted as if we had come out yelling and screaming at them. The manager didn't apologize for the inconvenience, didn't even talk to us, he just switched our tickets over and left. Personally when I pay the amount that they charge nowadays, I'd prefer to not have to leave the room to one that doesn't have an obnoxious sound taking me out of the movie. Seriously, isn't that the whole reason we go to the theatre, to be taken into a fantasy world? It's hard to enjoy the experience when this kind of thing happens. But, like I said, SOME OF THE THEATRES are still fine, it just depends on which one you get. I will go back, because I don't want to drive 45 minutes to the next nearest one, but it's still frustrating. read more

I do not often purchase any food or drinks at most movie theaters because of the high cost and poor quality of food, etc. There's almost always a Deputy Sheriff at the theatre for everyone's safety which is a nice and good thing in my opinion. read more

Movie theaters always overprice the refreshments, so that is a given. Other than the annoyance of high-priced snacks, Beacon is a great theater. It is generally as clean as other theaters or cleaner. The upcoming IMAX theater is an exciting addition! It is the only one in our general area and it should bring more business to the stores and restaurants around the theater. Beacon also has special showings of movies for children during the summer. Good stuff there. read more

Well to start off our night we bought nachos and popcorn from the cashier. He told us to bring our receipts over to the next counter and he'll get it for us. We waited 10min. And he never came over. When I asked what do we do now he said sorry he got side tracked and we eventually got our popcorn and nachos. When we got into the theater the movie was about to start until the screen went white and read "Active desktop Recovery" displayed for 10-15mins. Before anyone did anything about it. This theater has gone down hill. That's sad for the price we pay for movie tickets. read more

I'm a disabled veteran, with a service dog. I came to the movies with my brother and nephew as well as my service dog. Theater staff was great and accommodating as well as polite and friendly. Despite my medical needs, I try to show the up most respect for my fellow human beings, and felt it be best to sit in the back to avoid disturbing anyone. As we're making our way to our seats, another patron States "I have a chihuahua at home that I wish I could bring to the theaters. My brother politely responds "well she's a service animal", the patron continues with "oh of course she is, I'm sure." To which we responded "we have the papers if you'd like to see them." The woman proceeded to walk out (and presumedly complain about my service animal). After the movie we saw the woman in the parking lot leaving as well- clearly the movie theater staff was gracious enough to accommodate her discriminatory behavior against the disabled, when they could have just told her it's the law and she can either watch the movie or leave the establishment. I find it disgusting that anyone who be so disrespectful to ANY disabled person- least if all those whom become disabled protecting our freedoms. My animal is registered with the ADA and I carry her papers all the time for proof. Fellow patrons need to mind their own business instead of acting like the "you're not allowed to do that" police- obviously if the staff isn't reacting to it, there's a reason for the exception. In this case the reason is that I am a disabled war veteran, and as such I should not have to endure ridicule from my fellow patrons when I am attempt to be respectful as possible. Additionally, unlike chihuahuas, my dog remained quiet and calm in the movies. Thank you to the staff for their positive attitudes and accommodation skills! It's unfortunate our family time had to be intruded on with such negativity from my fellow citizens. read more
