Out of town visitor limped into the shop with a misfiring cylinder, just as shop was closing, on a Saturday, and on a recommendation from O'Reilly Auto Parts across the street. Owner took pity on me, couldn't have been more kind, and had us up and running again within the hour. Not only did he do the repair after hours; he also took the time to explain what he thought had been the problem and answered any questions we had. I gave this shop a chance and regret it completely. I originally brought my car in for a loud noise that I believed was related to the wheel bearing or tires -- something straightforward that should've at least been diagnosed properly. Instead, my car sat there for days with no real updates. Every time I called, I was told they hadn't gotten to it yet or needed more time. There was no clear communication, no urgency, and no respect for my time. Then after all of that, I'm told a completely different story about not being able to test drive the vehicle because it didn't have plates -- something that was NEVER communicated upfront. If that was the issue, why not simply call or text me and tell me to come get the car instead of letting it sit there doing nothing? But here's the worst part -- after finally picking up my vehicle, I now have a NEW problem that I did not have before bringing it in. My power steering is no longer working properly after they had the car. That's unacceptable. I came in with one issue and left with something worse. At this point, it feels like careless handling or lack of attention while the car was in their possession. Whether it was touched improperly or something was overlooked, the fact is my vehicle left in worse condition than it arrived. FREE GAME: respect your customers' time and property. If you can't work on a car, say that immediately. Don't let it sit, don't give runaround answers, and definitely don't return it in worse condition. A simple call saying "we can't do it, come pick it up" would've avoided all of this. read more

They call me and showed me other issues the vehicle had, showed me videos and gave me a reasonable price to fix the other issues. Warning: This garage will do a bunch of extra work that you did not approve and then charge you for it, take weeks longer than they tell you, do garbage work that you will end up having to re-repair in a couple months and not honor there so-called warrantees. If you bring up these issues with them, they will call you scammers. GTM Auto Repair shop in Ann Arbor, MI(not CA) has fraud activities. This shop told there would be a free check for a car window issue. After checking, I was pressured into paying for a costly repair in cash to avoid a surprise $80 fee. Later, the repair failed after just 3~4 weeks, well within the 1-year warranty. When I returned, the shop refused to honor the warranty, citing unrelated and unprofessional reasoning - that I was looking at my phone and might not "trust" them and might want to "take a picture". This auto shop just wanted to find any unrelated excuse to refuse the warranty. This is a very fraudulent business activity. The owner used the excuse "uncomfortable for customer's stay at the shop" and his so-called "recording" to deny the warranty service. At no point did I violate privacy. Simply using a phone (check messages, read news or even take a picture for personal records) should not be rounds to deny a warranty repair. If the shop is uncomfortable with customer's stay at the shop, that is understandable, but it should be clearly communicated upfront, not used an excuse retroactively as a justification to deny the warranty service. No matter what the owner should fulfill the warranty service, especially when his repair only lasted 3~4 weeks with a few hundred cash. When I argued with the owner that he should fulfill the warranty service, he was very rude and let me go away and said "I won't do the (warranty) repair for you". Can you believe a business just use "feel uncomfortable during my stay at the shop" and his mischaracterized "recording" as the excuse to deny the warranty service? read more

Save yourself time and money and take your car somewhere other than GTM. My son took his car to GTM for repair. They did not give him a written quote as required by Michigan law and then charged him almost twice what they initially quoted for repairs that my son did not authorize. They took two weeks to make the repairs and were hateful and disrespectful to my son when he called to ask for progress updates. Three months later, his car broke down leaving him and his wife and infant daughter stranded on the interstate. They had the car towed to a mechanic who told them the repair had not been done correctly by GTM. read more

Fortunately, they were recommended to me a year ago when I needed the break lights on my 2010 Honda CRV replaced. Edgar met me as I pulled in and after hearing what I needed, right then replaced both of my rear break lights, checked the function of all of the remaining lights, and charged only for the bulbs. Most recently I took my car back in to get the brakes checked which they did thoroughly while also topping up the fluids. I took my car to GTM for a second opinion & quote, and I had them fix it because the quote was quite a bit lower. The repair itself seemed to be done well, but I got the car back in filthy condition - grease all over the seats, the dash and steering wheel, and the outside of the car. When I complained, they said that's why they're cheaper - because they don't cover the seats or clean up. They then said they'd clean it, but I had lost confidence that they'd clean it to my satisfaction. They also put the steering wheel back on crooked, and claimed it was because it needs an alignment which wasn't included. Mistakes can happen, but they took no responsibility and handled it very poorly. You can save money at this place, but beware of what you're getting in return. read more

Updated 5 month review . If you look on Google you will see my story about GTM ***. I was told my head gasket was blown . It has now been 5 months ,and my car is still running ,after I got the WATER PUMP replaced {elsewhere} which is why I went to gtm in the first place . I would recommend going elsewhere to get service, as these guys obviously don't know what they're doing . due to them I was without my car for 2 months . I have two kids and ,my car was gone for weeks at a time without even being worked on , just sitting in the parking spaces , when he finally worked on it , he told me my car was basically screwed . it cause so much bs as I was already out of money getting back to work and home and daily running , walking my kid to school in the cold etc. And when I finally went to pick up the car he had sitting for 2 months he asked for $50 for his "time" . My car was fixed in a little under 2 weeks and It's up and running beautifully. Edgar was very patient with the payment process. I also liked that I received an invoice for each payment. GTM Auto Repair is an ANSWER to my prayers - Truly a GODSEND! Being a single Mom/woman, you feel vulnerable because you rely on your car for everything and when it goes down, you panic... "what is wrong?" "how much is it going to cost" "can I trust the mechanic to be honest, affordable, etc." O'Reilly's sent me to Edgar! I was stranded on a freezing day trying to transport a sick fish to the pet store when my starter died. My fish, Blu, and I rode in the tow truck to GTM. By the time I met Edgar, I was more worried about my Betta fish than I was about my car! Edgar drove me and Blu home and came back to pick me up when my car was repaired. Not only did I have a new starter, he fixed my HEAT - easy fix but no extra charge - as a courtesy! I WAS HOOKED! I have been back to GTM several times w/two different cars.
