We're from out of town and we are staying close to the restaurant. Place was AWESOME! Parking was easy. Service was great. Food was REALLY good. Drinks ice cold (including the beer and margs)! Pablo was our waiter and was nice, entertaining and kept a clean environment for the guests at the tables and bars. We love Cali Mexican bars and Midwest Mexican and this takes the cake. My partner and I love this place for the fajitas and the margaritas. Mexican food in Nashville ain't holding a candle to authentic food you'd find in Mexico or California but Guacamayas does its best and holds its own with the best hole in the wall spots here in South Nashville. We usually order the Fajita for 2 which comes with chicken, steak, carnitas and a piece of chorizo with all the veggies and sides. Pair that with some chips, salsa, queso and a pitcher of their house margaritas, and you're set for a good meal that won't break the bank. Service here is phenomenal. Me and my girlfriend ate here twice. Once to try it, and again to make sure we didn't just go on a bad day. The first time was okay, but the food was absolutely flavorless. The drinks were cheap, so that's why it's okay. Second time we got our usual dishes when we go somewhere, but there was food stuck all over our plates from previous customers. In short, super well priced, large quantity, delicious, great service. I used to come to this location many years ago. Guacamaya used to be called El Ranchero. I loved El Ranchero and was quite sad when it was replaced. After coming back several years later to Guacamaya, I was quite surprised to find that it had everything that I had loved from El Ranchero and even more on top of it. Insert ratatouille flashback moment. I ordered the dinner special which consists of taquito, tostada, taco, chile relleno, burrito, rice. There are 3 meat options, chicken, beef, and chorizo. I recommend trying them all, and you can in fact for the dinner special. Each item in the order I got a different meat (ie chorizo taco, chicken burrito, beef tostada etc). My favorite meat however was the chorizo. Nashville's Mexican food scene is extremely strong. With so many good restaurants to try it can be overwhelming, but I definitely recommend trying Guacamaya out at least once. read more

This restaurant has changed names, but has the same great staff, menu and location. I've eaten here about 50 times over the last 6 years. I no longer live in Nashville, but when I'm in town, I definitely stop in to get a taste of my old favorites. Some great things on the menu: fajitas, La Gringa, chorizo queso. Yum!!! Watch your credit card USE CASH ONLY December 6 2022 was my 3rd Visit. The man at the cash register was very welcoming friendly. I think the sour cream was bad because I was sick soon after we left and that was the only thing I ate that was different. We left an 8$ cash tip on a 41$ bill and drew a line through the tip area since we left cash. And when I checked my bank online they wrote a 10$ tip on top of the cash tip we left. I'm not sure if it's even legal to do that. Anyway lesson learned cash only because they are thieves. And I generally leave good reviews on here but buyer beware! read more

On what will probably be a long quest for decent Mexican food in Nashville, I decided to try this restaurant and see what they have to offer. First, the three stars is mostly due to the great service. The waiter was super friendly, attentive and engaging. No complaints there. I ordered the beef quesidilla and cheese enchilada plate with rice and beans. The beef quesidilla wasn't bad. The tortilla tasted good and the beef was moist. I would suggest the beef needed a little bit more flavoring. The beans seemed like they were canned. The rice had an okay texture but didn't have a strong flavor. The cheese enchilada I couldn't finish, it just had an odd taste that didn't sit well with me. It seemed to me the cheese was a canned sauce cheese of some sort. It didn't work well with the enchilada as I would have preferred real cheese. I can't say I would try this place again as I usually look for one hit on what I ordered and didn't get that here. Hands down best delivery meal I've had during COVID. The Guacamayas combinations were such a great deal - I ordered #2 and #3 along with some nachos and xangos. The food is so good! My steak tacos and my shrimp tacos were soooo good! And they're a good size too. A little bigger than normal street tacos (i got the authentic tacos). They're table salsa is spicy af tho. Just FYI before u start diving in. My only negative is that the margaritas are too sweet. I couldn't taste any alcohol at all.
