I had a terrible experience at Plaza Mexico in Lakewood. My wife and I came out for a night of…read moredancing and to enjoy ourselves, but our night was ruined before it even started. I showed security my valid Mexican passport and Mexican ID card, but they said the pictures did not look like me and refused to let me in. I even spoke with a police officer, and instead of helping clear things up, I was still told that they did not believe it was me. What I don't understand is that if they truly believed I was doing something illegal, why wasn't I arrested or given any citation? Instead, I was simply turned away and banned.

I spoke with the server a few minutes, asking how the lunch fajitas compared to the dinner, and if they were served the same way because I did want the skillet; I was assured the lunch would be served traditional so that's what I went with Unfortunately, was charged for the dinner portion, which to be fair is only like a five dollar difference, but when I pointed it out, was told that it was my fault for not mentioning lunch. To be honest, I don't know how I could've been more clear. She watched me tab to the lunch specials and then I did say "lunch special" Unbeknownst to me, I 'was' served the dinner portion, but again my first time I wouldn't know portion size as it differs from every restaurant. All that to say, they were not willing to change and were seemingly unbothered by the entire predicament. Out of the nine of us, 5 were overcharged by about the same amount (all With similar stories) so they offered 2 desserts for the trouble. I didn't want dessert, only to be charged for what I had ordered but in any case, wish them well love to see local business doing great, but it won't be for me

Being the first to review this place, I'd like to point out that the address that currently comes…read moreup on google (110 Dee Ct) is not the right address. 332 River Ave is the correct address in Lakewood Township, NJ. The owner explained that they've been at this location for only a couple of weeks. They have a big mobile orange food truck outside that has Taco Loco painted across the body of it (you can't miss it driving down River Rd). However, food is ordered inside the converted house. This is a small take out spot with a few seats inside and outdoors. There's a selection of regular drinks and sugary Spanish drinks as well. The bald chef/owner is very friendly and personable, although his English skills are not the best. The taco's here are really good and they are two dollars a piece. You can choose between regular or spicy beef, chicken, or pork. I like the spicy as I prefer hot foods. Either way, the meat is marinated well and has lots of nice flavor. All tacos come with fresh onions and cilantro, lime and a homemade green hot sauce (Salsa Verde) on the side. Each taco has a good helping of meat and is wrapped with two soft shells. My preferred method of eating them is to take the extra shell and split the meat and veggies, turning one soft taco into two. I'm a pretty big eater, and I can be satiated with 3 tacos (that I turn into 6). They also offer a cheese quesadilla for 2 bucks and a cheese + meat quesadilla for $3. The only thing keeping my rating from being a 5/5 stars is the fact that they don't offer tomatoes, cheese, or sour cream standard with their tacos. He explained to me that this is a more authentic taco, but authentic be damned as I've been spoiled by Taco Bell and all other Americanized taco places that I've been to. But again, the taco's are very good. I've actually bought my fixings separately and added it to the tacos at home. Tip: The chef/owner with a bald head appreciates regular customers. He's comped a few free items for me after a few visits, which is always a plus in my book. Hours: They are closed on Monday, but open Tuesday through Sunday from 10am - 10pm.

First off, if you're the type of person who's put off by "hole in the wall" sorts of places - this…read moreplace probably will scare the bejeezus out of you. The storefront and dining room consists of a single cluttered table with 2-3 chairs, a countertop, and a weird bodega-like store that sells ethnic foods and supplies. Let's be honest, nobody comes here for the atmosphere. On to the food! I was hungry when I came, so I ordered three tacos in total - one lamb, one spicy beef, and a carnitas (pork). After sitting down at (the only) table with a nice Mexican soda, my food was ready in a few minutes, nice and hot and with a side of limes to squirt onto them, as is proper for 'street tacos'. All three were distinct enough, and at ~$2 a pop the prices couldn't be beat either. My only complaint was that on the pork taco, the meat was rather dry - and the limes weren't really all that juicy either. Still, my meal was pretty good, the tacos had plenty of meat, and the service was friendly and quick. The salsa provided added a nice little kick of heat, and the "spicy beef" flavor was actually spicy. Also, I believe this same company runs a truck out of a gas station parking lot about 4 blocks away, since it bears the same name. If you can find it (and parking), I'd recommend going there instead, since the food quality on the truck seems to be fresher / juicer than what I got in-store. Worth a trip if you're ever in the area. If you can find the truck, even better!
