I'm back in Red Bluff after a few weeks away for work and yep, no food in the house, so I stopped in here at this Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant, located on Main Street going towards my house. I didn't wanna do a sit down affair by myself, so ordered a steak burrito to go, no sauce. By the time I got the car unloaded and unpacked a little, the burrito was not as hot as I like, so I wrapped it in some foil and popped it in the oven. Damn microwave is not working. Heated, I sat down finally for some dinner. The burrito was nicely filled with meat, cheese, beans and some rice. I like to eat my burrito with both hands and from one end, like burritos from a taqueria, so that's why I don't want any sauce over my burrito. I'd say this was a nice burrito, better than that Bandito joint, no Mexican flavor there! Long time ago, this restaurant used to be one of the worst Chinese restaurants in Red Bluff for years ... glad that's gone and this Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant is here now. We stopped at this restaurant on our way to Burney Falls and I really had high expectations. The minute we walked in there was only two men at the bar and no other customers. I should of walked out at that moment but didn't want to waste more time looking for another place. Im sorry but this is not authentic mexican food. I ordered the enchiladas and they had no flavor at all. The salsa that came with the chips wasn't even a salsa! It was marinara sauce with a couple chopped onions. I asked the waitress for a different salsa which she said "spicier" and I said yes. It was a little spicy but flavorless as well. I have always said if the salsa is good then so will the food. I really should of walked out once I tried the salsa. The beans tasted like canned beans. The rice had a weird taste that I still cant point out. I usually read enough reviews before I consider a place to eat, this time I didn't have the time. Im sorry disappointed at myself. Place is nicely decorated and looks clean. This restaurant was great! The food was good and wasnt overly greasy and the portions werent huge which I prefer. The service was really fast and friendly. They were very attentative and I left my babies food bowl and spoon behind so they cleaned it up for me and put it aside for me to come pick up which was very nice. read more

The food quality is good here. I always enjoy the food and the customer service is usually above average / personable. There is ample seating in the restaurant so it usually does not feel crowded. Sometimes they throw in a small cinnamon tortilla thing for dessert. It is the little details that make it stand above the many Mexican restaurants in town IMO. read more

I almost always eat here whenever I'm in Red Bluff. And I continue to return for more! The atmosphere of the restaurant is very comforting. I like how spacious it is and it's also very clean. The food here doesn't disappoint! They have a wide selection of dishes and they'll do modifications if you just ask. When I come here, I usually order their Enchiladas de Mole. The mole is a little sweet, which I like, because you get sweet and savory with the chicken stuffed inside. Their Carne Asada is also delicious and perfect if you're just craving something savory. Meat is tender and seasoned just right to my liking. I've even tried their Fish Tacos and they, unsurprisingly, passed the delicious test. I forgot to mention the complimentary chips and salsa. I can eat 3-4 little bowls of their salsa. And they have a spicier one if you feel like the mild doesn't work for you. As for the staff, they are friendly and make you feel comfortable. They'll put in that extra effort for whatever food request you have and that's what you want in a restaurant like this. You're probably wondering why I didn't give 5 stars with all these praises. The reason is because I've experienced a couple of mishaps with mine and my family's orders in the past, especially the last time I went, but they were resolved. Now don't let what I just said stop you. I am very fond of this food establishment. If you're in Red Bluff, do come and eat here. It's worth it! You'll leave feeling full and happy. read more

Traveling through Red Bluff and found Guadalajara Restaurant. 1. The place was Very clean. 2. Seems to be popular with the locals. Many diners were greeted with hugs. 3. Staff were friendly yet professional. 4. The food was great. I had a combo plate with the pork chili verde, chicken and shredded beef. All of the meats were very taste but I was amazed at the shredded beef. So flavorful, lean, tender but not overcooked. If I'm in the area again I will definitely concentrate on the shredded beef options. read more

I ordered a vegetarian enchiladas one with veggies and the other with creamed spinach. The veggie enchiladas had cooked frozen carrots, peas, and beans. I know the 2nd enchiladas had cooked frozen creamed spinach. I have never had unacceptable, unfavorable, and cheap ingredients in vegetarian enchiladas in my life. No fresh cooked vegetables. I complained and they remade the enchiladas but again with only cooked onions, celery, and cheese. I do not recommend wasting your money on these cheap ingredients. My parents and I were in town visiting my sister and we ordered dinner to go and what a treat we had! The food is authentically delicious and the servings are quite generous. The prices are beyond reasonable and you can share plates. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was full. The burritos are large and the kids menu was a hit. We have tried this place multiple times since they opened in Red Bluff, and each time have been disappointed. This last time was just the same, the food was freshly prepared but lacked flavor. The service was excellent, which is why I am giving them 2 stars, the flavor profile of the food just wasn't there. My partner the ordered the chicken fajitas, which were bland and lacked flavor. I ordered the Guadalajara burrito which has multiple seafood components smoothened in a green salsa. The seafood was questionably cooked, and smelled extremely old. Even our margaritas were not that flavorful. I am not sure if they have a recently replaced their cook, or if they were having an "off," day. But I think we will be going to one of the other Mexican places in the area. read more

The food was hot like they just took it off the grill. I had the shredded chicken taco salad. It was great and the right amount of food. My colleagues had burritos and they were huge! The salsa was just 'OK' as salsa go; not great, but not a train wreck either. The chips, on the other hand, were great and plentiful. My meal order was the Veggie Burrito: white rice, black beans onions and lettuce wrapped in a tortilla and served covered in Enchilada Sauce. The sauce was great, the burrito was standard, but the portions were quite small for the price. All in all, service wins the day here. Five stars, every. single. time. We moved to Red Bluff the end of May and tried all five sit down Mexican restaurants. Guadalajara beat the others for consistently excellent food & amazing service. Marco, Carla, Jose & Vanessa are ALL super friendly, and make you feel welcome. The food is served hot & tastes amazing every time. We've had the enchiladas suizas, fajitas, Chile verde & chile colorado, molcajete and the arroz con pollo. We've never been disappointed with our food and would highly recommend any of those dishes. Oh, and the chips and salsas (red & green) are fabulous!! We've eaten here almost weekly the last three months, dining in & take out. Every single experience has been a positive one. The staff goes above and beyond to make it that way. If you're on the fence about which restaurant to try in Red Bluff, THIS is the place you need to go! read more
