I am having a terrible time. Equipment doesn't work consistently, and there appears to be no internal communication. People say they'll call back, and they don't. I'm told something will be addressed, and it is not. I'd like to just return the whole system and start over with another vendor. I'm so disappointed. read more

Our condo complex has had Seivers for many years. We spent over $10,000 in equipment. We too were never told of the sale. Trying to get our cameras in good working order has been a challenge for several months. Emails & calls still not in good working order. But yet, trying to charge for over the contract. Had service last week on Wednesday. Still cannot connect with the service person on what needs done next. Ordered 2 new cameras several months ago. Had a date for installation & gave a deposit. I was a customer with locally owned Sievers Security, and have been with them for over 20 years. We always had great service with them. This morning, I forgot to turn of the alarm when I let out the dogs and the system went off. I went and disarmed it and waited for the call. That was all at 8am. Sievers normally would call you back in less than 1 minute. After 20 minutes passed, I decided to call in, (I called the Sievers number as I was not even aware Guardian bought Sievers... we are still getting Sievers billing statements), and I found out that they are now Guardian. The young lady was very professional and nice, explained to me that if we accidentally set off the system but disarm it within a set period of time, they will not call to validate it was an error (I'm not certain I like that approach especially when it is one of the doors that are set to go off immediately). She looked into the logs and said that they received the signal around 8:18 am and I disarmed in a few seconds later. I told her that the alarm didn't go off at 8:18am though, but 8:00. She then stated that some of the older equipment they are having issues with. I'm not sure I am happy with all of this. 1) I never received notification that Sievers had been sold and bought by another company, 2) they don't call you for false alarms on doors that go off immediately (no warning beeps). That sounds like a cost saving item for them, but what happens if a burglar breaks in, they wait their number of minutes to see if I disarm it and then contact us to see if we are okay?? We could be dead by then. 3) they blame the other equipment... well, if that's the case, you bought the business, how about you upgrade all the equipment at your expense since it worked fine with the Sievers systems. Cannot get connected to service. Been on hold 3 different times for 20 minutes or more. For a large company this is sad. I am a new customer too. Very disappointed Sievers sold out to them. read more

Guardia was the existing system when we bought our home three years ago. Cheapest option was to activate and continue service. Panel was older and complicated but service generally good. Moved again this year, and were disappointed with Guardian pricing for new install. No real price break for existing customer. Vivint offered much better deal and better technology. Happy with our new choice. read more

Horrible experience. I was told my contract was three years by the sales representative that came to my home and while speaking to customer service they told me my contract was five years. I had also had problems with the technical support representatives being extremely rude to me. I asked to speak to the manager and she was not available. I asked for her to call me back and it had been over 2 months and I still have heard nothing. I also have been trying to cancel my contract and was told I can only speak to a particular person about that. Well he called me on 2 weeks ago and was supposed to email me he information and follow up with a phone call and I have her to hear from him either. He has yet to return any of my phone calls to him. The technicians that come to your home were all nice but other than that I don't have one good thing to say about them. read more

I could write a book abot how bad my experience has been. I have used Guardian in 3 houses, the installers are amazing, but the sales people and the customer care is attrocious. I ordered cameras and was promised Sonys and High Def. but was delivered cheap Chinese garbage. I asked for this to be addressed and spent months chasing them. I have since used PowerAlarm and ADT and even as bad as ADT is, they are better than Guardian, do yourself a favor, look elsewhere! read more

My experience with Guardian was always good. I must have asked the right questions when deciding on what I needed and how to set up the system. I had glass breaks, one motion sensor and a hard wired smoke detector with a backup in case of a power outage. I was the only one who ever set off the alarm and that was because I was sleepy in the morning and opened the door to let the dogs out before disarming. I always got a courtesy call from Guardian asking if I needed assistance so the police never were called unnecessarily. Also, I thought the charges were reasonable for the service. We wouldn't recommend Guardian Alarm. We have had alot of problems in communication and response time since they have been with us. They seem to have a problem with communication within the company between their main office and the tech's. Also, we have a false alarm that sounds everyday. Everyday Guardian requires we call it in to them when they can easily see that it is going off again on their panel. Our question is why wouldn't the company be proactive to get it fixed. How many times do they have to come out and say they fix something but never really fix it?! The alarm sounds sometimes 7x per day. We wish they were more responsive and more organized. The only positive thing I can say is that Megan, one of their techs is good at what she does. read more

I have had Guardian Alarm for my security system for 6 years. When I accidentally set my alarm off I always receive a courtesy call from Guardian asking if everything is alright. The representatives of Guardian Alarm are committed to helping solve alarm problems. We recently had a break in (I didn't set the alarm) and the service people at Guardian were expedient in re-routing my alarm system so that we could use another door until the main exit door was repaired. In the past, when I have needed Guardian Alarm to come to the house to service my alarm system they came right away. The service people are knowledgeable, courteous and professional. I would definitely recommend Guardian Alarm to others. read more

I had finished my alarm contract with my previous company and wanted to switch to a locally based company, so in March of 2015 I contacted Guardian. When the sales person came to my home I explained I had a dog which she saw when she was at the house. The sales rep told me the motion sensors would not pick up anything under 100 pounds so, my 30 pound dog would clearly not be an issue. I also asked the rep what would happen if my power would go out since the system was hooked up to my phone line. She assured me I would not have an issue because there is "battery back up". On the day of installation the tech set up 2 motion detectors and 2 door sensors and a glass break. The glass break is quite odd looking and sticks out so I asked if it could be put somewhere inconspicuous, the tech put it behind a shelving unit in my living room. Since I have had this alarm service the alarm has gone off several times, once at 3 am. Each time because of the motion detector. Each time I have had a tech come out blaming the issue on a variety of excuses 1. your dog must be 80 pounds (i have a beagle jack Russell mix.. its impossible for her to be that big she would not be able to move) 2. its a faulty motion detector 3. The sensitivity is set to high 4. They are in the wrong place. Each time I have had to leave work, the police have shown up and not to mention that 3AM alarm had me so frazzled that I accidentally hit panic and 3 sets of police came lights blazing.This past week the alarm went off twice again, again police were called and I was livid. When I contacted Guardian I was first connected with Technical Manager Greg who said he was so sorry about all the issues and assured me he would send a Supervisor of the Cleveland technical team over Tuesday the 19th to fix everything.. Tuesday arrived and at 5:30 I opened my door to a regular tech. no supervisor.. Deception #1 Andy the tech was awesome and the only good thing I can say about this company. He was pretty shocked when he looked at my set up. He first explained that the motion detectors shouldn't pick up under 80 pounds not 100 (Deception # 2) remember I was told 100 pounds. He also explained that although they say that, if the motion detector is pointing at the steps and a dog comes down it's going to pick up the movement no matter what the weight. He then asked where my glass break was. When i showed him he was shocked and said it would never work behind the shelving unit because the sound would be muffled (Deception #4) We then made our way to the keypad. He asked if the system was wired through my phone line which is through the cable and I said yes, in the middle of conversation, he explained that if I lose power I do have battery back up but, because i don't have a phone the system can't communicate with main hub so they can't dispatch police or fire so alarm system basically is worthless (Deception #5). Andy then removed the 2 motion sensors which now left more holes in the wall since they were moved before by another tech. Moved my glass break, so it actually will work and put up 3 window sensors. As you can imagine I was so mad, I thought my head was going to spin. Not only was I paying for service that wasn't installed right but, I had had techs out at least 4 other times in the last year and not one said a word about the system being set up wrong. The next day I called Greg, the one who promised me a supervisor, he wasn't in so I contacted Ken in the Cleveland office and explained the whole story. First I got, oh I wasn't given the message about a supervisor coming out (Excuse #1) Then I got well you must have put the shelving unit in front of the glass break after it was installed (Excuse #2) This is the best part, when I told him about the losing power. His reply was text book "there is battery back up" of course I called him out on the inability to communication with police and fire if there was no power and he had nothing to say. He then said I'll call you back, when he returned my call he offered me this to stay with Guardian. He would put in another glass break in and update my system to the wireless one for $100.00 and an extra 8 bucks a month on my bill. His reason for this charge was that the new system is $400.00 dollars to install and he claimed that I signed the fine print on the contract which says I refused wireless service. My sales person 1. never told me about the wireless service and 2. deceived me into thinking my system was safe and functional if the power went out. When I refused and explained I would gladly take this the legal route, he said Mike Oaklief, the Cleveland manager, would contact me. Mike, in a snotty and unprofessional way, said that the relationship is now "Toxic" and would terminate the contract with no fee and allow me to keep the equipment.
