I can't believe I haven't visited Guardian Cellars previously. I am more white wine forward, and ended up taking home some of their Sauvignon blanc because it is so good. They have a lovely variety of Red wines too which are very approachable. The interior is gorgeous, and they have a lovely balcony too for warmer days. Kevin did an amazing job of explaining the wines and general chat. I would go back easily for the homey atmosphere. Good tasting fee too. Plenty parking in the Apple Village, and lots of places to eat nearby. Looking forward to returning. read more

I have been wine tasting in Woodinville long long before there were over 130 wineries represented there. In over three decades of wine tasting I have had many memorable experiences and tasted okay to fantastic wines. From Napa, Centra Coast, Russian River up through Oregon and all over Washington it's been educational and it's been a fun adventure. Friday we, dear friends and my wife and I decided to do "a little wine tasting" before the final FINAL PAC 12 football championship game on the TV. We started with lunch at the Woodinville Tavern (review to follow) and then stopped by a favorite: Guardian Cellars tasting room. As fortune would have it, there was no one there except Corinne (sp?) our hostess. This review could well be about her. A tasting room host will determine your experience and that experience will influence your opinion of the wine! I speak from experience. Corinne was brilliant! She was warm and welcoming, she was knowledgeable about the product and a fantastic representative of the Guardian labels. I have never up until Friday afternoon so enjoyed my time with a tasting room host as I did on Friday afternoon! We talked wines, books and movies; it was a most pleasant and entertaining couple of hours. I could have stayed until closing! And, I am not alone in my opinion; my wife so enjoyed the experience and talking wine with Corinne that she signed up for their wine club and we left with more than a case of wine. Guardian and Newsprint wines are excellent and Corinne made the afternoon perfect. read more

I love this gem of a place in Woodinville. Cozy and Comfy. It's like drinking wine in your own living room, but a little nicer. I love Jerry's wine and I also adore Jennifer's entire Newsprint line too. The servers are so unpretentious, warm, vibrant and friendly. They made our experience so fun. This is the first winery where I really liked every one of the wines I sampled, so much so that I joined their wine club. The wines are all fantastic and the staff is super friendly. We booked Guardian's Woodinville space for a retirement party and it was EXCELLENT. We called several places and nobody was as responsive as guardian. Staff were quick to reply, always answer the phone, and were very reasonable and accommodating with requests. They had several of their amazing reds on for pouring, and our guests were super pleased. Rates were very reasonable, especially for the beautifully decorated space, great wine, and quality staff. We will come back here for sure. Throughout the entire evening people kept stopping by praising the space, the ease of location, the wine, and the vibe. Our party had a couple kids, a lot of adults and some older folks with mobility issues. Everyone was able to access the space and find a comfortable place to sit. read more

Warmly greeted by Katie, Lauren & Ashley...and was steered in the direction of a marvelous 2019 Cab. Their colleague, Kevin, was masterful at both educating guests (clearly knows his wines inside and out) AND being fun and playful. Serious about the product without taking himself too seriously. Love love love this place! Needless to say I am member here so my opinion could be biased. However I became a member recently. This has been my go to tasting room when in Woodinville and is in my top 3 tasting rooms. Unlike other tasting rooms, the awesome ladies that work here are super friendly, authentic and knowledgeable. Regardless how busy they are they are always smiling. The decor inside is pretty cool. If you are tasting with a group or on a date this place is perfect for varies group sizes. They are extremely accommodating even if you haven't made reservations for groups larger than 6. You can also book the space for private events which I have done in the past. Being a member comes with a lot of perks free tasting and discounts on purchased bottles etc. chalkline and Rookie are my favorites. You can also taste their newsprint line and my favorites are the Cab, Syrah and Malbec. This line is inexpensive and can be dangerous as you can easily finish a bottle. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area! read more

Tugged inside a small industrial plaza, this winery along with his neighbors proved that Seattle has a wine friendly country where anybody can make wines as long as they are willing to. I was told that the wine maker in Guardian Cellars came from a police background. The wines, mm, I have to say, were all a bit too young and a bit too strong and conflicting on the flavors for the few we tried. read more

I think Jerry needs to be made up into a new action comic book hero! He keeps us safe at night by fighting evil on the streets and then by day makes us elixirs to celebrate and enjoy life! The Guardian is definately a fitting name for it's creator and I love the fact that each wine is named within his theme. So right when you walk into this tasting room you are greeted with a Queens of the Stone Age framed poster and killer music within the same vein plays in the background. While tasting their excellent selection of wines named appropriately as Angel, Chalk Line and Gun Metal, you can parouse the pictures filling the walls and get to know a little more about their maker. I can not recommend Chalk Line and Gun Metal enough, they are red blends that are both full and juicy to the point that you may end up licking your glass clean. To be honest their maker may find himself searching for his patrons as these addictive elixers may need to be outlawed because they are just that good! read more

I am in LOVE with the newest tasting room in the Hollywood District. It has really easy access from the main road just prior to the round-about. Thee is plenty of parking and several other businesses nearby and within walking distance. The first thing you notice while walking in is the AMAZING décor! The staff was super nice and very educational about each wine we tried. The names of each wine are the best! All police related. We ended up buying a bottle of Alibi. Was recommended to try this place out by some friends. It was awesome. The winery is owned by a Lynwood Police Officer and his wife hence the am name. The venue was nicely decorated and the staff was very friendly and spent time with every group talking about the wines and genuine small talk. The wine was very good too. They have a lot of great reds. Plus the names complement the law enforcement theme which was cool, "Chalkline" & "Gun Mental". I bought a few bottles! It is still a cool tasting room, with great music and an urban feel. Jerry is making some of the best wines in the region right now and every year they get better. The prices are a little higher than others, but not for the quality. It is worth the money to invest in a few of these bottles. The other thing that makes this place great is that Jerry and Jennifer love what they are doing. My husband and I stopped in here shortly at the end of our night. We didn't have long because they were shutting down shortly so we ordered a glass of wine and talked to the woman that was working for about 20 minutes or so. She gave us the whole back story on the owners and how the winery was started and didn't rush us to finish even though we came in so close to closing. The reviews are pretty accurate. The tasting room gives off a great vibe with a metallic and blue colors. On one occasion I had the opportunity to check out the back room and the fermentation tanks. Jerry the wine maker and his wife Jen are always warm and inviting. They make you feel like family. By the way, the wine is fantastic and well priced for the quality! Another great winery in the warehouse district serving up a mixture of Washington reds. The tasting room has a modern feel with posters of Nirvana, the White Stripes, and other great bands on the wall. Also they play the same awesome music as well. Behind the tasting room is their barrel room, which I definitely recommend checking-out if you get the chance. read more

Me and some girl friends did a wine tasting afternoon in woodinville a few days back and we decided to branch out and explore this little area behind Gorman and Patterson Winery. We first went into Guardian which I recognized their bottles after going in. I have to say I liked all of their reds and this was the first place on our stop so I am not just saying that because my palette was wiped out lol. I ended up getting a bottle of the chalk line red blend. The tasting fee is $15 for 5 or 6 wines and the chalk line was only $25...so might as well get one to take home. The gal pouring for us was really nice and explained the wines and the story of the owners to us. Apparently the husband was a police officer for a long time which really explained the themed of their winery and why they had shooting targets on their walls lol. The names of the wine go with the theme too hence Chalk Line, the Informant etc Definitely recommend checking them out if you are into red wines. read more

Tasted Feb 12, 2011 - 2008 Syrah [$30]: I smelled the dark jammy fruit long pleasing finish will benefit from cellaring - 2008 The Wanted [$37] from Stillwater Creek Vineyard a deep complex wine Cabernet Sauv dominant scent of cola on the nose lovely mid-palate ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I again tasted here in November, 2010 & tried - 2008 Chalk Line [$25]: Cab, Syrah Merlot: there's fruit, leather and spice and a long luxurious finish a very decent deal - 2007 Gun Metal [$37]: A Conner Lee vineyard blend which is Cab dominant Lush with lots of brambly berry notes tannins are smooth now worth a try and will cellar nicely - 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon [$39]: Part Red Mountain, part Horse Heaven Hills Fruit forward and lovely mid palate Soft and lush now but will certainly benefit from a couple years of cellaring ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I first tasted here in May, 2010 & had: - 2009 Angel [Sauvignon Blanc] $20: crisp, bright & herbaceous - 2007 Syrah $30 So supple, a good example of WA Sate Syrah at its most approachable] Great work, Jerry - make more wine! read more
