If you're sleeping on Viva Supermarket, let this be your sign to GO. Not just for groceries but for…read morethe hidden gem inside that deserves its own spotlight: the kabob spot tucked right into the store. First of all, the concept alone is elite. You walk in thinking you're doing a quick grocery run... and then the smell hits you. That smoky, perfectly-seasoned, straight-off-the-grill aroma that instantly makes you hungry even if you weren't before. Now let's talk about the food. I ordered the chicken rice plate, and I am not exaggerating when I say it was one of the most flavorful plates I've had in a long time. The kabob was: * Perfectly grilled * Juicy and tender (not dry AT ALL) * Seasoned all the way through not just on the outside * That beautiful slight char that gives it that authentic, smoky depth The rice? Fluffy, fragrant, and seasoned just right. Not bland, not greasy just balanced. Every bite had flavor. You can tell this isn't rushed food. It's made with care. And can we talk about the portions? Generous. You're leaving satisfied. But what really made this experience stand out was the customer service. Huge shoutout to Mohammed he was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely kind. The type of service that makes you want to come back. He made sure everything was fresh, answered questions with patience, and had that positive energy that elevates the whole experience. Great food is one thing but great hospitality makes it memorable. The whole setup feels authentic and comforting. It's giving neighborhood gem energy. The kind of place locals don't want to tell too many people about because they want to keep it to themselves but it absolutely deserves the hype. If you're in the area and craving: * Flavorful, juicy kabobs * A hearty rice plate that actually satisfies * Warm, welcoming service * A hidden food spot inside a grocery store This is your place. I'll definitely be back for more and next time I'm bringing friends. 10/10 experience.

Another thing that struck me was 100% Health Score. I found that very impressive. The space inside is HUGE and divided between a dining area and a grocery/home goods shop. At the counter area sat a young girl (daughter of owners). I looked at the menu and knew i wanted to try the whole chicken Sajji, a large salad and rice. After talking with the cook through her daughter translating, I ordered the Qabeli Pulay without the lamb shank. I was told that the chicken would take about 40 minutes to prepare. I had no problem with waiting. OH BOY! I am SO glad that I waited and ordered what I did. The food arrived in 2 large aluminum pans AND a large container of rice. One pan had the chicken and the other held the salad. The amount of food was enough to EASILY feed 2-3 adults and 4-5 kids. All this FRESHLY made, cooked to order, NATURAL food for $49! THE TASTE: impeccable flavor on EVERYTHING! The chicken was juicy, tender and so flavorful. There was also a sauce for the chicken. It added even more flavor. Sooo good! Licking my fingers! I love Qabeli Pulau! It is usually cooked with lamb shank however, I just wanted the rice without the lamb. The Chef was able to accommodate my request. This is the BEST, most flavorful Qabeli I have ever had. It did not need so much as a grain of salt - perfectly seasoned. Please try this dish with or without meat (she will replace the lamb with chicken, if you like). I asked for a larger salad. For $5.99, I was given a large aluminum pan of the freshest, crispiest and most wholesome salad: red cabbage, romaine, onions, Persian cucumber. It was delicious and a bargain. In my opinion, this place deserves to be successful. I wish I had the power to bring in the likes of a Chef Ramsay to do a makeover without touching the food. The outside is not appealing and I think most people don't try it simply because of that. Do yourself a favor. Go. Try this delicious food. Bring someone with you and let's give this place the credit it deserves. I've lived in other parts of the country and am not happy with the quality and diversity of food here in Sacramento. THIS restaurant is a GEM when it comes to taste, quality of food, price, and service. Do yourself a favor and just GO and bring someone with you!

The owner and his family are great people. I got there yesterday looking for shawarma; it's affordable ($8.99, unbelievable) and it comes with fries. It tasted great . I got back today and got polau, bolani, mantu, and lamb kebab. Should I tell you it was bussin'? Absolutely. Thank you!

I visited the warehouse to purchase the items to make my Egusi Soup. She behaved like she didn't want to help me. Then...she had the audacity to tell me, "You don't need that to make Egusi." Management.... if you are reading this...PLEASE put someone at the front counter who is friendly and knows how to interact with the public. Also, it is nearly 2019, not everyone carries cash. You should consider investing in a point of sale terminal, which would allow your customers to have other payment options besides cash. Your warehouse is out in the middle of nowhere. People making that drive just to be told, "cash only" is an inconvenience.
