And yet I've never been. Until today. I probably saved quite a bit of money by doing that too!! The items they sell are made by small local artists and businesses, so they're not cheap. They're worth buying and supporting our local community. Service was as great as everything else was. We had a good laugh as we were checking out. I LOVE this place and definitely will return.

I got to spend time in the store yesterday, appreciate the delightfully curated offerings for sale, and to chat with the proprietor, Jillian - and I am so glad I did. I needed that dose of delight and energy, a joy to have in our town. As another, much younger resident of Cannon Beach said to me a couple of minutes after I walked out of HipNest, "More people need whimsy in their lives!" I am already looking forward to my next visit to my close-to-home whimsy dealer, and to selecting some treasures with which to decorate my own nest.

Adorable, small gift shop in downtown Hillsboro…read more I was shopping nearby today in search of some artisan chocolates and another merchant directed me to The Artful Garden. Cute place packed full of unique gifts...great Christmas gift potential: ornaments, jewelry, sweets, art. As for the chocolates, they've got a decent sized selection displayed near the back of the store. I needed 8 boxes for gifts, and not being a big lover of chocolates myself, I let the very sweet and helpful employee make the selections for me. They have a variety of box sizes based off of weight, and pretty good pricing in my opinion. Sweet place with great customer service! :)

I am an avid shopper and have frequented similar stores all over the US, so it is with great confidence that I can say Pulp & Circumstance is one of the best. It is lovingly and beautifully curated by co owners and friends Jennifer & Ashley. I was doing business in the neighborhood and noticed they were finally open (I peeked in their window last week) and today is their grand opening. The store is located inside of a beautiful Victorian house that has been expertly transformed into about 1,000 sq feet of retail space. There are three major rooms that house a variety of items including but not limited to: fresh flowers, air plants, succulents, books, at least 100 (very cute, often letterpress) cards, stationary, baby gifts, jewelry, candy by the pound, jewelry, mirrors, art, etc. Best of all some of the wares are from local artists and businesses. Many of the items here I have never seem before, and I easily spent a hour familiarizing myself with my new go to place for gifts, small home decor items and cards. Does it sounds like the owners here are my very best friends? Well they are not (yet). Today was the first time I met these two remarkably charming and welcoming gals in my community. I am looking forward to future chats about the happenings in the Berg (we traded information about what other businesses are coming to town including a bakery and restaurant this summer). I picked up two mirrors, a postcard, a camping cookbook, a Father's Day card, a wedding card and a thank you card set. And I will likely be back tonight for their official grand opening party with my husband.
