My mother & I ordered pizza & wings on a Tuesday night. We had a bad experience unfortunately with the worker who took our order. We ordered over the phone. He was snappy & it was easily noticed that he didn't want to engage in taking our order. Or it seemed that he was just bothered by answering our questions. We did have a couple of questions because we have never tried Big Y pizza but heard great things about it, so we figured let's give it a go. He easily seemed annoyed. We arrived & the pizza was not made correctly. We had also asked for an order of wings which he stated would be $10.99 for a pound. The wings were charged at $18. I went to the manager of the store (Jim) with my concerns & he easily helped resolve my concerns. He was very polite & kind! I'd like to rate a 2 but thankfully the managers engagement, I appreciate his efforts which made the experience better. Thank you Jim for representing your store properly!! read more

I just had the worst time at bigy deli, for the second time I was over look for a white customer whom clearly walked up after me. Today around noon I was told that I wasn't next even after I said I was next. I was told the the white gentleman was next, when I and my wife watched him walk up. I am really hurt by this happening at a place that I have shopped at for many many years. I am really disappointed and will never shop there again. A nice grocery store with an impressive selection of products! Just a heads-up if you've never shopped at a Big Y before: they can surprise you with higher prices if you're not a member. This happened to me on my first visit, but thankfully, the Customer Service Desk refunded my purchase, helped me sign up for their free membership, and reprocessed my checkout with the lower 'member' prices. It's a little puzzling why they require membership if it's free--likely to track purchases--but just a fair warning for newcomers to Big Y. Now, onto the main reason for my review: I'd heard great things about their fish and chips and had to try it. For around $13.99 plus tax, I received two large pieces of perfectly fried, steaming hot white fish, served over a bed of lukewarm fries. It came with a small side of coleslaw and tartar sauce--a solid deal. I also found out you can upgrade to onion rings at no extra charge (wish I'd spotted that option before ordering!). The gentleman who cooked up my meal was super nice and helpful. They offer a small dining area near the store's entrance where you can enjoy any of their ready-to-eat meals. While the space is basic, a staff member was keeping the tables clean between guests. Eating fish there did make me feel a bit self-conscious, as it filled the area with its aroma. Overall, I'd order the fish and chips again but I would probably ask to have them put a piece of 'wax paper' between the fish and fries. read more

The grinder was garbage, to many hot peppers, and onion. Like I asked for extra everything, and meat and dude put quadruple the amount of peppers that are on it and barely anything else. The rest of my experience was a delight. read more

Most ridiculous trip ever. Go to the deli to get Cole slaw.....2 people in front. Stood there 20 minutes waiting while the 2 girls behind the counter wait on them. They weren't getting alot....but both girls were moving so slow, looking so uninterested and irritated When it's finally our turn....the girl spends 2 full minutes trying to get the containers apart....and then DOESNT give us a full pound of anything we wanted.....also doesn't put the top all the way on.....I was so mad I fumbled and dropped the Cole slaw at the register....top wasn't fully on.....you guessed it. If you use Instacart during pandemic like me you know Big Y does not mark up the prices of items like other stores. I received receipts in my bags from my shoppers and the total difference is usually within $5. I use Big Y after comparing with other stores. Their own baked goods and culinary tours products are fresh and good. They also carry many local food like Soco ice cream. When we can't make a trip to Soco; Big Y is there for us! read more

The Big Y is a quirky place but it definitely fills the needs of the Birthday party planning shopper buying large party pizzas, large birthday cakes ( the bakery peeps are super friendly and always take time to personalize a cake for you by writing your message on the there for you no matter how busy they are) they have a plethora of chip and snack choices and usually sales on them as well to choose from. Lots of beverages and drink choices as well. All stickers encountered were friendly and helpful when looking for a product and I was able to find everything I needed to create a wonderful Birthday Party for my family. We go here often and the store is very bright and clean and makes a nice shopping experience. read more

yesterday i purchased a rotisserie chicken. i will never buy another. i do not know what's in that chicken but it doesn't smell like chicken. it smells like chemicals . i don't want my money back ,the chicken did not ot taste like chicken , it was overpowered by whatever the brine is that chicken is soaked in raw ,salt water is how it is done ! i dont like those plastic carry bags for the chicken either . whatever or wherever you get that chicken from it smells like i said chemicals. not appetizing, it made me gag ! .market 32 has rotisserie chickens. that actually tastes like chicken thats where i will shop to get one !!. very disappointed and i cook goirmet too ! read more

I've been using Instacart and have almost never had an entire order without a problem. Big Y practices "gotcha" business. If you're not watching closely, you'll end up paying much more for some items. Seems like price gauging. ($4 for an Organic Lemon) The "shoppers" for Instacart don't seem to watch for quality in produce. Not uncommon to get fruits and veggies with bruises, mold, or just tired looking. Instacart Customer Service is uneven. Sometimes the fix the problem and sometimes they don't. Long waits on hold sometimes and not at other times. read more

I love the fact, first off, Big Y has an employee outside disinfecting the carts before customers grab them! Extremely important today. In my opinion BigY has gone the extra mile during this horrible pandemic trying to make it safer for the customer as well as their employees from the arrows in the aisles on the floor to the plexiglass glass separating us and the cashier. Sanitizer stations throughout the store. Spots marked off that are 6 feet apart for social distancing reminding everyone how important it is to uphold the social distancing recommendations. The store is clean and fair selection of items overall. The sale prices are very good but non-sale prices are on the higher side. Here's a big problem from this morning --- The manager in the Pittsfield MA store is 100% a nasty bully who has NO manners. "Give me your Big Y Card" ...and " there yo go..." is NOT please and thank you. I guess if you think you have power as a manager you can be nasty to customers. Shame for hiring her. And the Cashier forgot the coupons, and the manager didn't give me my big y card back once before. It's local, lots of free parking. Big Y bakery is THE best grocery store bakery around. The cakes are so fresh and creamy, and the flavors are absolutely delicious. Highly recommend especially in an area that doesn't have many real bakeries that are affordable. For any occasion give them a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

It has everything you need, sale prices are very good, the bakery is the BEST and they drop everything to help you. The employees are professional and always willing to help, despite being so busy. I've never had a problem with any department and I've been shopping there for years. Even Jeremy, the young lad who handles the carts, is so willing to help any customer. My only complaint, and it's more like an itch, is the incessantly depressing music that doesn't change from year to year. And I suspect the owner of big y is not a fan of Christmas, as the only song playing when I'm there seems to be the little drummer boy. Big Y is the place to get ridiculous specials like triple coupons and other insane deals. They have all the same product lines as Stop and Shop or Price Chopper but every once and a while they will give the store away with deep discounts. The crowd native to this area is a little bit shady at times, but overall not bad. Look for the discounts in their circular and save. read more

I love going here for their clearance section in the back of the store. I can always find cat litters and air fresheners back there which is a plus. You can get them for like half off too! I also enjoy their deli and prepared foods as they just redid it all, and it looks great! It is also conveniently located so I don't have to drive far to get my groceries! read more

I'm new to pellet stove's having acquired one with the purchase of a new house. The previous owners recommended Amanda's fireplace for cleaning and servicing, so I used them for the first time today for a fall cleaning and tube up. I've got nothing but great things to say about my first time experience with Amanda's. From the initial call to introduce myself and make the appointment, to the reminder phone call, and especially the Technician, "Joe K." Who came to service my stove. Everyone was police, professional and, Joe was especially helpful in helping me understand and use my new acquisition. Joe was awesome, patient, and explained every step clearly (and in some cases multiple times) to make sure I understood how to properly operate my stove. He did a great job cleaning and tuning my stove - I can already feel and see the difference. We just went to s birthday party at the lee, MA Big Y. From the time you enter to the time you leave every employee takes such good care of you. The tour of the store with the kids was so much fun from the samples, learning how to use the cash register, to petting a live lobster was a hit with the kids. Upstairs the party room had a view and natural light, fresh pizza, attentive staff taking photos, cupcake decorating and cake. The staff went the extra mile from start to finish. Great job! read more
