I ordered the Angus beef (the mid-tier option), and it was so tough and dry... it honestly felt like I was chewing on something between paper and beef jerky. For something that's supposed to be a more premium cut, it was a letdown. Did I still eat it? Yes. Did I tell my husband it was fine so he wouldn't feel bad about us spending that much? Also yes. I just didn't want to turn it into a whole thing over a meal that already felt like a waste. What made it harder to ignore was the overall condition of the place. The windows were dirty, things felt a bit unorganized, and the whole restaurant just had this worn-down, low-effort vibe. I don't usually pay much attention to ratings, but I did notice the B rating and, unfortunately, it matched how everything felt. There was even a fly around our table and food the whole time, which just made it worse. The sauces were really runny and didn't have much flavor, which is disappointing because that's such a big part of shabu. I do want to say the service itself wasn't bad the staff was kind but you could tell they weren't exactly happy to be there, and it kind of added to the overall energy. It just sucks because this is the only shabu spot in town, and I really wanted to like it. When you're paying $29-$39 per person, you expect a certain level of care and quality, and this just didn't feel like that. I really do hope they take feedback like this and improve. I know times are tough, and I'd love to see this place do better.

The standard AYCE Hot Pot comes with a stable selection of two beef options, one pork, saba fish, fish balls, chikuwa, quail egg, raw egg, mixed vegetables (e.g. three types of mushroom, spinach, cabbage, tofu, taro) among a couple other options! By default, it has a few soup bases, but the ones I got (miso and sukiyaki) were a $2 addition each. The more premium option would run around $45 I believe which includes the additional soup options. They also have combos that are pretty good if AYCE isn't for you.

The ponzu makes everything super palatable, which helps cut through some of the richer cuts of high-quality wagyu. Definitely recommend visiting! Just a heads-up on parking: the plaza surface lot can get pretty busy depending on the day and time, so I'd suggest heading straight to the underground parking structure.

Some of the bowls did not appear to have been properly cleaned and still had visible food residue from previous customers. There were also unpleasant odors around the condiment and beverage areas, which made the overall environment even more uncomfortable. At one point, it became so hot that we genuinely felt like we might suffer from heat exhaustion. In a restaurant serving raw meat, proper temperature control, cleanliness, and a safe dining environment should be basic priorities. Overall, this was a very unpleasant experience. Even if the price may seem affordable, it is simply not worth saving a few dollars when the dining environment, cleanliness, food quality, and customer service are this concerning. This place is also a major win for families. My nephew said he actually likes this place way better than Korean BBQ spots because smoke doesn't blow in his face! I got the classic ayce hot pot and mostly got the beef, lamb and pork belly for meats. There is a premium ayce option for $5-6 more but I was pretty satisfied with just the classic selections. I would rather pay the extra $5 to get dim sum, which was also not bad! I liked the siu mai, shrimp har gow (fave), and steam juicy dumplings. My bf liked the steamed chicken feet and garlic tripe as well (the tripe was p spicy). You order the dim sum with your server as the dim sum is made to order, which I preferred bc it comes out steaming hot. The buffet bar also has a variety of items from fried appetizers to veggie side dishes, fried rice, noodles and more!

The brisket was my Hubby's favorite! It truly does melt in your mouth! For the all-you-can-eat rounds, the A5 chuck ribeye and brisket are incredible, offering a perfect level of richness. Beyond the hot pot, the Diamond tier gives you access to premium sushi and specialty items. The A5 nigiri with foie gras and the uni toro bowl were exceptional and tasted incredibly fresh! Those were my personal favorite! They also have a great self-serve bar stocked with high-quality sauces, hot pot sides, prawns, scallops, and wagyu curry. We finished our lunch with their ice cream dessert, but the green tea ice cream didn't taste anything like green tea so I may opt for another flavor next time. The customer service was attentive throughout the night, ensuring our meat plates were constantly replenished during our 90-minute limit. I got the split pot with sukiyaki and jelly golden chicken broth. The sukiyaki was slightly sweet and full of umami flavor. The jelly golden chicken was flavorful and comforting. You can tell they boil down chicken bones from the chicken fat in the soup. They have 3 meats on the prime menu that were wagyu. All 3 were super tender and required little to no chewing. The abalone were massive and firm yet tender. We got the shrimp paste as well which was flavorful and filled with chunks of shrimp. The veggies were fresh and I enjoyed the variety. My favorites were the crown daisy, spinach, enoki mushrooms and Napa. They even have the sweet potato wide rice noodles that are slimy and chewy. Not a lot of AYCE places have it so it's a rare find. The staff here speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and English so ordering was not an issue. They have a small lot in the back with about a dozen spots which wasn't an issue on the week day.

I had a great experience at Guifei Spicy Hot Pot! The food was delicious and full of flavor, and I really liked that I could customize my own bowl with a variety of fresh ingredients. The broth had a rich, authentic taste and the spice level was just right. I went to a newly opened hot pot restaurant tonight that was recommended by a friend. The place is very clean and hygienic, and the food was fresh and neatly arranged. I arrived a bit early, so it wasn't crowded at first, but more and more people started coming in later. The staff were very patient in introducing and explaining the different soup bases. Great! This international student finally doesn't have to worry about food anymore. I stumbled upon this place by chance and thought I had to try it. I ordered the spicy soup, and it was spicy, numbing, and very delicious. The more I ate, the more I wanted to eat, and I couldn't stop. The best part was that I didn't feel thirsty after eating it. We've been regulars here since they opened. It's our go-to spot every time we finish playing at Little Elephant across the street. They have a massive selection of meats, seafood, and veggies.
