Selection is a bit smaller than other malatang places nearby but they do have the popular toppings such as beef, pork, fish, tripe, squid, spam, and a variety of fishballs and vegetables. The variety of broth is good and I chose the signature beef bone broth in spicy but they didn't add the spiciness. The broth was not too salty and it was creamy. The portion size is a good size. The sauce area was basic with chopped garlic, cilantro, chili oil, black vinegar, sesame paste, and soy sauce. Parking lot can get packed. Garnished it with some green onions, cilantro, and sesame oil. They have fewer toppings than other malatang places, but everything I needed was there. Plus the meat was fresh, and the vegetables were crisp! It was delicious with just the right amount of spice for me. Not only are the owners the coolest most attentive hosts, the quality of their ingredients and flavorful broth options make this little hole in the wall a fan favorite among my group of friends. We ended up here one day we wanted to have some Malatang but didnt want the hassle of driving too far, so to stay local in the West Covina / Walnut area we searched for places we could try as a group. This is different from all the other big-chain Malatang/hotpot places I've been to. Their soup base selections are one-of-a-kind and not just copy-paste flavors like so many others. The ingredients are also much better quality, fresher, cleaner, with some varieties that other places don't offer. And they don't purposely soak the ingredients in water to add extra weight that makes you pay more. The condiments bar is limited BUT to be fair you really don't need extra condiments because the soup itself is more than enough. That's the whole point of Malatang anyway!!! They had a couple of selections of broth. My husband and I had the tomato broth, it was a rich soup base and I did taste the tomato in it. The price was about $14/ per pound and I think that's typical. We got a free drink, I think there was a sign that said if you buy a certain amount then you get a certain drink at a certain range. We got a can of lychee soda which was pretty good. Their sauce selection is limited, but they had all the basic except for the bull bbq sauce.
