Food was delicious and the spice preferences were all spot on! Wide selection of hotpot ingredients and came out very hot. Nice open seating and very cool inside so you won't feel like you're overheating. Service was also very nice and welcoming :)

"No matter what role you're in, you should always be able to choose for yourself." I agree!!! That's why I chose customizable mala tang today Very simple rule here: pick a bowl, choose your own ingredients, weigh them, then choose your broth or stir-fry option for $14.99 per pound, and wait for your food. For a limited time, they're offering 12% off and a free drink of the day with any bowl purchase. IG: socalhkfoodies

This hot pot spot was incredibly clean and full of flavor! My husband ordered the beef broth, and I got the tom yum. Both were delicious, but I highly recommend the beef broth, it was so rich and flavorful. I also loved the complimentary herbal tea that came with our meal. We'll definitely be back!

Used to go here when it was Cheers, was sad to see it go. Then it became Fire Wok with some kind of robot kitchen, both times I tried it was very subpar. Now I find out it converted to the ever popular "build your own" hot pot. Went tonight (Friday) at 7:45pm, completely empty and remained that way until 9pm when we finished eating which was a shame because it was pretty good. The lady that worked the front didn't speak much English which I don't think is good for business but it is what it is. They are having a 12% soft opening promo with free iced tea, hot pot is by the pound at 14.99 per lb. I always manage to get carried away and end up with about 1.8-2lbs lol. I got the tomato base and it was pretty flavorful, most ingredients tasted fresh. The only 2 things that tasted funny was the wide sweet potato noodle and one of the fish balls (not sure which one). Will be back for sure, glad it's a hot pot place again.

Fire Wok is located in the Tokyo Central shopping center closer to the Taco Bell. They have steam tables of food like Panda Express but the food they offer is more authentic Chinese. The rice has a weird taste to it, but other than that the food is pretty good. My kids liked it. I liked the tofu and orange chicken, kids really liked the beef. Prices are pretty decent for what you get.

Fire Wok is new to our neighborhood. My father raved about it so we decided to give it a try and see why he likes it. To our surprise, he was right about the place. The food is great. We tried the 6 different dishes. The spices were well balanced. It's not too spicy, but just right. It's not too salty or oily either which we appreciate. Each dish was done well and we can't really find flaws. The rice had some toughness to it but that's most likely from the heat lamp that they use, which could be improved on. The overall flavor is great. For under $11 for two entrees, this is very economical. It's honestly rare to find cheap eats. We understand others may compare it to Panda Express but in our opinion, this is far more authentic in terms of flavor and cooking. It's absolutely a great alternative to Panda Express if you're wanting more authenticity and spice. We understand that they just opened so these things aren't really deal breakers. Just crank up the food warmer and it's perfect. The service here is great too. They're welcoming and explained their dishes. We also got to try them before committing which we liked. The ambiance isn't what you come here for. It's the food. It's definitely worth trying.

I absolutely love malatang, and this place has spicy dry mix which is different from the other malatang places I've been to. It's really good, they also give rice if you get the dry mix and a free drink if you go a certain weight I think. Very conveniently next to Tokyo central so I can go grocery shopping after a fat meal. Ambience is also really chill.

The food is delicious, something about this place makes me want to come and tear up a plate each day. I don't know if it's the presentation, atmosphere, or simply just the food! I recommend 100 percent plus tax ...and CRV

It's cool to have a new Malatang place in the area, but I feel like the soups were a little bit bland (we got Sukiyaki and Chicken Pumpkin). They needed more flavor and could've had it boiled for longer because some of the items were still raw. Otherwise I hope they continue improving!

The mala xiang guo was absolutely delicious -- packed with flavor, perfectly spicy, and loaded with fresh ingredients. Every bite had the perfect balance of savory, numbing, and spicy. Definitely one of the best I've had!

    black burned stuffs?

Service is good. The girl in the front is always friendly and helpful. But this time I got my meal with full of black stuff, and taste awful. I guess those black stuffs come from the wok which got burned but didn't get washed properly...... very disappointed

I ordered the Angus beef (the mid-tier option), and it was so tough and dry... it honestly felt like I was chewing on something between paper and beef jerky. For something that's supposed to be a more premium cut, it was a letdown. Did I still eat it? Yes. Did I tell my husband it was fine so he wouldn't feel bad about us spending that much? Also yes. I just didn't want to turn it into a whole thing over a meal that already felt like a waste. What made it harder to ignore was the overall condition of the place. The windows were dirty, things felt a bit unorganized, and the whole restaurant just had this worn-down, low-effort vibe. I don't usually pay much attention to ratings, but I did notice the B rating and, unfortunately, it matched how everything felt. There was even a fly around our table and food the whole time, which just made it worse. The sauces were really runny and didn't have much flavor, which is disappointing because that's such a big part of shabu. I do want to say the service itself wasn't bad the staff was kind but you could tell they weren't exactly happy to be there, and it kind of added to the overall energy. It just sucks because this is the only shabu spot in town, and I really wanted to like it. When you're paying $29-$39 per person, you expect a certain level of care and quality, and this just didn't feel like that. I really do hope they take feedback like this and improve. I know times are tough, and I'd love to see this place do better.

There were four of us, including my 6 year old nephew, and it turned out to be the ultimate family meal. Since it was my very first time experiencing hot pot, I wanted to go all out and try a bit of everything. So we ordered both the Wagyu Experience and the Mo-Mo Experience, which gave us access to all four delicious broth bases. While waiting for our main meat cuts to arrive at the table, we checked out the self serve area. Their savory Japanese curry is mouthwatering, and they had a cold noodle dish that was super tasty. I had to exert some serious self control not to fill up on the curry before the main event, but it was just so good. Once the meats arrived, my sister showed me how to cook them in the bubbling hot pot. Every single broth had its own unique, rich flavor profile, and every single one was delicious. The quality of the meat here is premium grade, and the marbling on the Wagyu beef was absolutely outstanding. I'd love to see where they source their meats because everything tasted ridiculously fresh, right along with the items at the veggie station where they offer over 20 different vegetables, noodles, and toppings. This place is also a major win for families. My nephew said he actually likes this place way better than Korean BBQ spots because smoke doesn't blow in his face! On top of that, I absolutely love that they offer a kids' achievement incentive for straight A students. It's such a wonderful touch for families. And I loved the ambiance with fun tunes playing throughout the restaurant. Just writing this review is making my mouth water thinking about the incredible food we had.
