No, there is no 'hotel staff', but it works well if you don't need anything. The town itself has not much to offer for coffee/breakfast needs and the cafe below doesn't open until 8- terrible if you're an early riser who needs a latte! The room itself was great- very roomy, comfortable bed, river view, which we utilized as a nice white noise for sleeping. Bathroom was fine- nothing special there. We loved the industrial vibes and were happy with our choice- but moving onto a bigger city with more to offer is a good idea after a few days.

Please have Wi-Fi, but it was so weak in my room that are only work at one end, and didn't exist in the front by the TV. The room had a mini fridge and a two burner electric stove, but it was all period: late 60s at best. The fan in the bathroom made more noise than a freight train. The pull-out sofa only pulled out once, and then could never be pushed back in. Ugh. I wish they would update the place lately, as if they did I'd have no problem paying 80 or 90 a night for this location but it would have to be 1995-vintage or butter.....

My wife & I couldn't find a hotel, for a reasonable price, to lay our heads for just the night, because were the last minute, middle of the night, kind of people. We gave them a call to be sure they're open, & they answered (both times) around midnight & one in the morning, & we're greeted pleasantly, rather than hatefully like all the others we had tried. The lobby is behind the motel, in the owner's mud room of their house, you'll see a little neon "open" sign where you enter. I found it very comforting. Our room was laid out very nicely, & uniquely unoridinary, almost like a small 1 bedroom apartment. You're actually booking a small suite. The room had all the amenities one might need. They have an old A/C unit in the bedroom, that looks like an antique from the 1800s, when we turned it on, it sounded like the unit was screaming at me. I would advise that would be replaced, in the near future.. The interior is a little outdated (panel board, older yet unique appliances) but welcoming & clean regardless. The location isn't exactly ideal, but we've been to a lot worse.

Shower was plastic and sank a little when I stood in it. Toiletries - made in China which seems to be the trend unfortunately these days at US hotels. The quality though of the Chinese made product was better than what is usually stocked at US hotels. Great towels though! Check-in is down a narrow rock covered drive. Stay 2: I got a different room and the bathroom was much better than the other room. Bed again was super comfortable. I had people above me but they were quiet types so no problem there. For both stays, I was able to park close to the rooms. This B&B is set back from the Main road and both times I stayed I was in a building in back on a quiet residential road. Nice quiet stay and nice little outdoor areas on both sides of the building. They had a hummingbird feeder set up. I enjoyed walking a bit on this quiet road. Almost five star stay.

I visited Phil's, for the first time, in May. Stayed for a couple days to do a check out hike for…read moremy upcoming trip through the 100MW. On that trip I was the only guest. Phil gave me a tour of his place and provided some valuable tips. Coffee was ready in the morning - I appreciated the company (from both Phil and Woody). Used the grill that evening and spent time reading in the "community center". I felt totally at home and had a chance to destress from life. My sister and I returned at the end of June for our hike. Cabin was ready when we arrived. Phil was as engaging as ever. He dropped us at Abol Bridge in the morning. Unfortunately my sister fell and tore her ACL on the hike. Phil provided instructions for how to get her out and even, personally hiked in to look for us. After she got off trail, he helped me plan a two day solo hike. Really awesome place! I now think of Phil as a friend. I'd highly recommend.

My friend and I used Phil for our section hike of the 100 mile wilderness. Phil was wonderful to…read moreus. He gave us so much useful information about the trail, campsites and a resupply. The food drop was essential so we didn't have to carry 8 days worth of food. I can't thank him enough for making us feel so safe and secure. He sat down with us and went over our maps and made sure we didn't have any questions. He dropped us off at the trailhead. When we finished a day early he made sure we got picked up and we didn't have to wait long. His rates are very reasonable and he really went above and beyond for us. His cabins were so clean and comfortable. The shower was clean and had hot water. There is hardly any cell service in the 100 mile wilderness so using my Inreach was critical to staying in touch with him when we finished. He was also nice enough to text my husband with an update when my device wasn't working well. When we finished he offered us both use his personal phone to call our families which was a really nice gesture. I highly recommend Phil Pepin and his services. This stretch if trail is very remote and difficult. He knows the ins and outs of the area and that was very comforting to us!! Thanks Phil!!!!

Had a fantastic time at Peaks Kenny with the fam in June. Small park with a nice lake. Well…read moremaintained and very attentive Park Rangers. So much so that we got a knock on our camper door only minutes past quiet hours started telling us to turn the movie we were watching down. We visited Bissell Brothers Three Rivers both days we camped, which is sadly not something we'll ever be able to do again. It was about 20 minutes up the road. We also ate at the Quarry in Monson during our stay. Very very windy roads, be careful of wildlife at night.
