If you are touring through the cobblestoned city of Dublin rich in history and local flavor, make sure you stop by the Guinness Storehouse and learn how they transform the hops into black gold. I'm not a fan of Guinness... or beer in general, so this past weekend when I snatched someone's drink to quench my thirst, that familiar rich and stout taste touched my lips and brought me back to my adventures in Dublin. This tour is pretty long and thorough. However, you walk at your own pace so you can zoom through if you really wanted. Of course we took advantage of our time, snapped a few snazzy photos like typical tourists, utilized some of their interactive toys and gadgets, and mingled and talked to the other foreigners. Great times! You learn about the history of the liquid genius, how it's made, posters and product memorabilia and at the end of the tour, you find yourself at the gravity bar which is made of clear glass and sits at the very top of the building. They give you a free pint and you just relax and enjoy your view of the entire city. Gorgeous! I took a sip and didn't want it to go to waste so handed it over to a table of guys who were eager to accept. Your trip to Dublin wouldn't be complete without coming here. Excellent tour. We really learned about the making of Guiness stout. The Gravity bar is a beautiful place to drink your pint and worth the price. Only thing that would make this better is if they served more starter type foods in the 5th floor bar area. I used the Hop on-Hop On bus to get here. This was my only reason to be in Dublin lol. Ive been drinking Guinness since I was a little kid and it's the only beer I really drink. And I can drink gallons of it i kid you not! I joined a group of people and a guide told us about how the beer is made and bla bla bla. I was too much in awe of being in there!! The history behind the beer, company and city is pretty cool. The best part was the pent house where you could see the city! Wow! I know i sound like a fool right now but you have to be there to experience it. Of course, I made sure to get my free glass of guinness and finished it soon as it was handed to me. The Guinness Storehouse is just your typical museum... ABOUT BEER. And, if it means anything, a very fair-priced one as well, if I remember correctly, I don't recall feeling a sense of panic when receiving my ticket on this student budget trip. When I'm on self-guided tours, I usually just find myself quickly walking through everything. I don't know why, I just do. But I found myself actually trying to learn on this trip, like REALLY learning! I took pictures of everything. The building itself is pretty amazing. It had multiple floors (don't worry, there are elevators. Right?), nice structures (weirdly), glass fixtures, and all that great stuff that I remember taking really random pictures of. I also really appreciated that we got a pint at the end, what a great way to end the tour! You had the option of pouring your own, or heading up to the gravity bar and having it poured for you. I have to say the view at the top was pretty amazing, a 360 of Dublin. Although, as with most touristy places, it was very crowded, so it was difficult finding a place to sit yourself and/or your pint down. But whatever, just try to find yourself an open space along the glass walls to stare out of and enjoy your pint. I also feel that it's pretty family friendly, there were kids running around everywhere! There were some interactive points throughout the tour the family could enjoy. And I think just learning the process itself could interest kids. Even if you're not a big fan of beer, the Guinness Storehouse should definitely be on your list! Oh Guinness Storehouse, how I wanted to like thee, but was very disappointed in the whole experience. First off the parking for the Storehouse is towards the end of the block and requires a 5 minute walk to get to the front door. The entrance is basement of the building where you can buy your tickets on the right hand side or check in with your online purchased or advance purchase tickets on the left hand side. Tickets are around 20 euros for an adult and believe me they are not worth it. The ticket includes access to the Guinness Storehouse museum and a voucher for a pint of Guinness in the Gravity Bar. The Gravity Bar is located on the top level where you will have access to 360 degree views of Dublin. Since there aren't really any skyscrapers in Dublin the view does not have much of a Wow Factor. The beer that you get from the Gravity Bar is terrible tasting, completely metallic in flavor, much different from the Guinness that you get at a local pub. In terms of the museum there is an audio guide you can get for free on the first floor. There's several floors, the ground floor being a big souvenir store. There is a floor that is all restaurants, one dedicated to Guinness advertisements and of course the Gravity Bar. It definitely is quite the tourist trap, everything about this place points to making money. The best part is a small room that allows you to smell the vapor of all of the different ingredients that go into Guinness. You'll love it as much as I do because there are free tastings of Guinness served in shot glasses. read more

THIS IS A MUST SEE IF VISITING OR IF YOU ARE FROM THERE. It's a institution on our island and it's important that we all must make our pilgrimage there once. But you only really need the once. It's unusual that myself, a Dubliner, had cause to go and visit the Guinness Storehouse, but I had a visitor over from the States and heard that it was worth a look, so I went over to see for myself. The St James's Gate area of town is a little bit off the tourist trail, and literally every second building in the surrounding area is owned by Guinness, so it's a bit disorienting trying to find the storehouse among all the other buildings bearing the Guinness logo. The walk to the storehouse is journey unto itself, as to get to it, the visitor has to walk down along alleys between the monolithic storage sheds. I had never imagined that the James's Gate complex was so vast. I liked that the Guinness Storehouse was more sciencey than I had anticipated, and some of the old machinery, like the giant copper vats, were a joy. As I recall, it wasn't terribly expensive to get in, and the price of admission includes a pint of the black stuff, so that was alright. One part of the tour that I found a little bit anti-climatic was the visit to the much vaunted Gravity Bar at the end. The bar itself is pretty cool, glass walls with a 360 view of Dublin but remember, you're still in James's Gate, and there aren't that many bits of Dublin of note in the surrounding vicinity, the Wellington Monument in the Phoenix Park aside. And, oh, the stout. It is true that the further you get from St James's gate, the worse the Guinness gets, and I have no fault with the with the taste of the pint I received, poured expertly as it was. But the teeth-chattering coldness of it was practically unbearable. This was presumably a concession to those visitors who had never drank Guinness before, but prospective vintners take note: stout is meant to be served a few degrees below room temperature, not as few degrees above freezing as possible as in the case of lager. Plus, I have to admit that I am at heart a Beamish man. When are Beamish and Crawford's going to open a storehouse experience? Absolutely worth a visit nonetheless, Arctic stout aside. read more

I came here not knowing what to expect and left as a Guiness expert. To be specific, a certified Guinness pourer! I walked here from the Temple Bar area and it was a good 20-25 minute walk so wear comfortable shoes if you plan on walking there. A little confusing for some people to find this place without the little blue dot on Google Maps, so bring a map or have directions on your phone so you don´t waste time getting lost in the neighborhood around the Storehouse. I waited in two separate lines before getting in. The first is a line outside before you can wait in the inside ticket line. The outside line was cool because they had some Irish Dancers come out for entertainment. They were really good and exciting to watch. This line was about a 15 minute wait. Once they let you into the second line you probably wait for an additional 15-30 minutes to buy your ticket. I didn´t pre-book online, which I now see the benefit of! The only good thing about this line was that I discovered that the Guinness Storehouse has free codeless wifi in every inch of this building! Fabulous for posting pictures and checking in on social media without having to use your data! Finally purchased my ticket and got a couple of Euro off as a discount for showing my student ID! Your ticket includes a free pint which you will enjoy later on in the tour! Finally, I was in! You have the option of buying a guided audio tour in several different languages. I passed on this option and did the self-guided tour at my own pace. There is a lot to see and do here so give yourself about 2-4 hours here depending on what you want to see and if you want to enjoy a couple of Guinness in the panoramic view bar on the top floor after your tour. My favorite parts were the tasting experience, the pouring experience where you get to learn how to pour a pint of Guinness like an expert bartender, and the bar at the top with panoramic views of the entire city. This is definitely a cool place to spend a few hours while you´re in Dublin. Like everyone else has said a trip to Dublin is not complete without a trip to the Guinness Storehouse. Did you really come to Dublin/Ireland if you don't visit the Guinness Storehouse??? Yes, it's touristy and packed but if you've ever appreciated the creamy stout - you need to come here! Floor after floor of education, branding, the "brown stuff", and great views of Dublin. We came on a Saturday afternoon so the line was out the door but if moved quickly. I highly recommend purchasing tickets beforehand as this is an attraction where tour buses come and go and drop huge groups off. The ground floor is education and has an entire floor dedicated to merchandise. As you ascend towards the Gravity Bar on the top floor, you are told the story of Guinness - how it's made, the impact of it, how it's shipped, the history and the brand behind the drink. We saw a wonderful Irish dancing performance, tasted the other beers that are brewed by Guinness aside from the famous draught. We also redeemed our free pint included with admission at the Guinness Academy which allowed small groups to learn how to pour the perfect glass. Afterwards, there's a certificate you can bring as a keepsake of your experience. Save your poured pint and enjoy it upstairs at the Gravity Bar though! The view of Dublin from the top of the Guinness Storehouse is worth the visit. It didn't cost much to get in and it's a great tour. It's world famous and exported to the 4 corners of the globe and synonymous with the Irish Republic, so its touristy, but you must stop here because it's a great beer. It's amazing to think that they got it right so long ago, the perfect stout beer, you're tasting history. It's a self guided tour and you get to see the brewing process and the production of the barrels. There are some cool exhibits as you wind your way up the storehouse. They teach you how to pour the perfect Guinness and then they give you 2 pints when you get to the top. If you're going around lunch time, and thinking you'll get a bite to eat elsewhere after the tour, don't. There are 2-3 restaurants and the food was great. My family all agreed. We got the mussels in the white cream sauce, braised pork belly, Guinness burger, and the beef and Guinness stew. It was the best meal on the trip. read more

If you're in Dublin, this is probably the place you should visit. You get to tour the Guinness factory and even sample a few of their Guinness. I personally enjoyed the interactive experience when you get to pour your perfect pint of Guinness. In honor of my 100th review, I'm going all out and international!!! Food: The food here is not the best but still doesn't hurt my 5 star review of the Guinness Brewery. Especially since you may need some solid substance in your belly before you start drinking all day. You have 3 options for dining and it's all located on the 5th Floor. We ordered the burger with fries and the beef Guinness stew. The burger can only be cooked well done and that should have been a red flag for me to stop with that choice, it was super dry. The fries that accompanied the burger were amazing so order a side of those with anything else on the menu. The Guinness beef stew was good but nothing spectacular. It was tasty enough for me to enjoy it for the time being but none of it was memorable except for the views of Dublin. I would suggest eating a big breakfast before visiting Guinness and maybe enjoying a small snack in their Pub in the afternoon when you're feeling a bit tipsy. Brew: It's Guinness! Always Delicious! It's a sexy beer when poured correctly and settling to perfection. It takes 119.5 seconds to pour the perfect pint. You get a roasted aroma,chocolate,caramel,toffee on the noise and a thin, light, and creamy body on your palate. Don't let the dark color scare you because it usually refers to heavy and scary but it's nothing like that, Think the opposite. With out giving away all the surprises I HIGHLY recommend doing the connoisseur experience. I am officially a certified Guinness Drinker and Pourer! How would you like your Guinness served! Let's start with the obvious this place is huge and amazing. As soon as you walk in it's as if you are transformed into a brewery heaven. The décor, the Guinness mania of clothes, Guinness cookies, candies, sauce you name it Guinness has it. I don't want to touch too much on what is seen there because it spoils all the fun. If you are ever in Dublin this is such a must see. From the history to the making of the beer you literally leave an expert. My favorite thing about this place was to see the process of how the beer is made and really have a whole other level of respect for the quality and the work put into make Dublin's popular drink. I also love the being able to pour my own pitcher. It added a level of a personal touch to the experience and demonstrated the proper way to drink a Guinness beer. Apparently the most visited attraction in all of Europe this year... who knew? Obviously a must-see if you're visiting Ireland for the first time. Be sure to buy your tickets online so you can skip the line at the entrance, plus you get a 10% discount. Tickets aren't for a specific time, so no need to plan for that. Once inside, there's a quick informational greeting, and then you're left to wander wherever your heart desires. Be mindful that it gets really crowded, so I'd allot at least 2.5 hours to see everything. Included in your ticket is a free glass of guinness (sadly Yue glasses are not a souvenir). Went along with some friends who were visiting, sadly it just didn't do it for me. Obviously it's a tourist attraction but the experience feels artificial, it's the kind of thing we're used to in America, I just expected more considering how much history is behind the building and the brand. Because nothing is actually produced in the building anymore, all of the working parts have just been scooped out and replaced with projection screens, definitely a shame. Everything felt spread so thin, just to milk 6 something floors worth of "attractions", I found myself bored. Visiting a working brewery/distillery is much more exciting. If I wanted to have things explained to me in a video I would go on youtube, but if I pay to go out, I want to see and experience the real deal. This place is all flashy shtick and no heart, it's plastic and sad and unless I had people visiting who insisted on going, I would not recommend it or go back, there are too many other nice things to do in Dublin. Three stars only because the shop has a huge selection of some pretty awesome tshirts and merchandise, and the view from the rooftop bar is amazing, though be prepared to spend the bulk of time you're there standing in line to get up to the window to appreciate the view. A museum worthy of the Guinness name! They spent a ton of Euros making this place fantastic! I don't know how you can come here and not be wowed by the presentation. There isn't too much original left to the storehouse, other than the walls, but it's still pretty amazing to see what beer money can build! THE Dublin experience. No trip to Ireland is complete without a visit to the Guinness Storehouse. In fact I was so giddy to go that I was bragging to coworkers for a week before. The last entry to the storehouse is at 5pm, and they supposedly stop pouring beer at 6pm (supposedly bc at 6:15pm I still saw the top level bar pouring). We entered about 10 min to 5pm. I asked how long it would take to go through the exhibits and if we'd have time for it all, no problem. Well... That estimate was dead wrong. Could have spent much more time. Around 5:45pm we got a 'last call for beer' from one of the employees, but we were only on floor 2! We ran up to the fourth floor where the Guinness pouring lesson was and were told it was already closed! I was so upset - learning to poor the perfect Guinness was the only thing I HAD to do in Dublin! I did a little bit of begging and the lady at the door was nice enough to let us in (it was only 5:45!). We jumped on the tail end of the last pouring lesson and were able to try it out for ourselves. Thank goodness we got in just in time! Overall great experience, but if you are thinking of going at the end of the day leave yourself more time and note you better get to the lesson before 5:45pm! read more

Ahhh what can I say..... I've waited a longtime to visit and was exactly what I imagined. Perfect, not overdone, educational and cool. The history and integrity behind the name and the quality of the product sets the standard not only for brewers but for businesses in general. This brewery puts many "new" breweries to shame and it baffles me that here in the states, many of the "trendy"craft beer bars do not offer Guinness on tap. Massive place, the tour is as detailed or as washed over as you want it to be. 6 huge stories and they even have a cafe, its nothing to write home about but you can grab a quick bite. They tell the full guinness story and include history as well as the beer making process. The gravity bar is where the real magic happens! read more

I had a fabulous time at the Guiness Storehouse tour. The tour is a self guided interactive tour for around $17 which includes a pint. To us, the tour was totally worth it. We strolled leisurely through the historical information, marketing/advertising areas and of course stopped to the 7th floor for the 360 bar. Loved the "how to pour the perfect pint" tutorial and the tasting portion. It was quite crowded, but easy to navigate. At first I was upset it was self-guided, but it really allowed you to take time in any area that you needed to get a better understanding of the backstory in the beer. Tip - this tour is NOT child friendly. There's a lot of walking and reading - much like a museum. Strollers at the 7th story bar and at the beer tasting are inappropriate and rude to others trying to make their way through the busy areas. read more

I always thought people were full of shit when they said the Guinness was better in Ireland than the US. I was right, they were full of shit. But the Guinness at the Guinness Storehouse is without a doubt the best (several) pint(s) of Guinness I've ever had the pleasure of drinking. The self-guided tour is also pretty cool and as interactive as a brewery tour can get. And here's a little tip: When they have you choose between pouring your own pint and having your pint in the Gravity Bar, choose to pour your own pint. After you pour your perfect pint go to the restaurant, order a Guinness of your liking and walk upstairs to the Gravity Bar with it. read more

Overcrowded, touristy, overpriced and a Disneyland for adults? Check, check and check. You can't go to Dublin without a stop in the Storehouse. It's like going to Edinburgh without a whisky tasting. The bottom floor is pretty much a mercahandise store for you to buy your souvenirs, of course I had to buy an overpriced T-shirt for next St. Patricks' Day (just so I can brag I got it at the Guinness Storehouse) I also picked up a whistle or flute type thing because everyone needs one of those? Self guided tour starts out with a short informational session, and then you are free to roam the seven floors on your own. I have to say, I learned a lot, I took my time through the different floors and audio tours, who knew beer could be so exciting? I learned all about the ingredients, cooperage and the craft of brewing. They have a 9000 year lease on the place, safe to say they will be here for awhile. At the end, we were treated to "the perfect pour" and an amazing view of Dublin from the top of the Gravity Bar. It was so crowded up there, couldn't even get a sit or a picture, but I was able to view the city. read more
