I don't know why Guitar Center gets a bad rap. I've had nothing but good experiences here, and today was no exception. After buying a used bass, I got home and started working on setting it up when I realized that it was not a Squier Vintage Modified as marked, but was instead a Frankenbass, pieced together from parts. It took taking it apart to realize it, so I understood how it could easily slip under the radar. All I had to do was bring it back in and show them, and they took care of the situation right away. They offered a full refund, no questions asked, but I liked it....just not at the price I paid for it. With no haggling whatsoever, they offered a very reasonable price based on what it actually was and refunded the difference, easy peasy. Thanks to Kona for making things as smooth as they could possibly be!

Here's my dream guitar. A white American Fender Strat baby!!! ala Trower, Blackmore and Jimi too!!

Michael was quick to help me find the perfect Mesa Boogie and brought down some custom PRS guitars so I could rock out and relax. I had a great time playing for a couple of hours. I returned the next day and continued to play and chat with the great staff. Geoff introduced himself and asked what I was interested in. He brought me a few high quality guitars until I couldn't resist. He made me a smoking deal on the JP Mesa Boogie and a beautiful purple mist PRS. I recommend FSG's and will definitely continue business with them even though I am from the Central Valley in California.

I was told I had 30 days to return it. I didn't like it and tried to return it a few weeks later. What I wasn't told was that I'd only get $50 as in store credit if the box was damaged (just the box, not the actual product itself). The worst part was the guy looked up the resell price on a used version and it came to about $80, but he then took 35% off even though it's a return. I then wanted to buy an amp (What I originally wanted before I was talked into something else) and asked for something around the $150 mark. He then tried to talk me into an amp without telling me the price. I had to firmly ask what the price was twice before he told me it's $300. Even though I was visibly upset from losing $100 from a product I bought from them because the box was damaged. I finally got him to show me exactly what I wanted. If you go here, know exactly what you want and be firm about it so you're not talked into getting something you don't want that costs more money. Also know that the boxes their products are in are worth $100 so you can't return a perfect condition product, within their return window, if the box is damaged.

I've never been so insulted. These clowns must have assumed they were stolen. "Where'd you get them? Why are you selling?..." Hey pal, I have multiple instruments and these were two I almost never play (as if it's any of their business). They claimed there were problems with both and weren't interested. Now, I have done business with them multiple times, but they can kiss this customer goodbye! I'm not a thief, but these guys are jerks. To prove these were from my personal collection, I've included a picture of my remaining guitars. I ended up gifting the guitars to my niece.

But I came at about 2:45 and the whole place was still dark. Just a thought - maybe have enough staff around at all times that some of your employees can take lunch while others are still on shift? Were they closed for summer vacation again and just didn't tell anyone? Sorry, but I'm all done here. You've wasted enough of my time. At one time Portland Music Co. was the best in the city. Those days are gone. It's better to buy music online nowadays anyway. The prices are often marked down by 20% or more if you get in on a holiday sale or something.

This medal was the perfect size for my needs. I also purchased two more pendants. Paid for with my Credit Card. Sunday, I decided to re-arrange my pendants to go with my other pendants, and none of them fit my gold chain. I also found some gold rings to attach to my medals, and one of them didn't even fit inside my ring. I decided to return the two pendants. We drove all the way to Beaverton, just blocks away from the shop, when I took my receipt out of my purse, where it's been, to make sure I have it, when I read my receipt. (see photo below). I freaked out! Yes, I'm blocks away, and I'm freaking out, that they won't take it back. 20% RESTOCKING FEE? No return on jewelry and guns (I can understand guns, but jewelry?) I am not a crook, I'm an honest citizen, a previous customer, who gave them a good review, the first time. I decided to go back home and think about what else I could do! They didn't tell me any of THAT! They were busy! I opened a Credit Card Dispute on the phone, that evening. I also try to sell one of the pendants, to a friend of mine who like religious stuff, maybe, I can try to dispute the other pendant. After much talking, she decided to buy it for her daughter's graduation. I told her: I'll throw in the box and put a bow on it. I also decided, to keep the other pendant, that didn't fit my original chain, for a gift to my granddaughter's graduation (hopefully she won't see my review, and add a more expensive gold chain from my collection). I closed the dispute! LESSON LEARNED HERE: Make sure you understand the store's policy, before you take out your wallet. I could have been in a worst situation, I am glad, I found other solutions. For other people, not so lucky, you've been warned!

My first call was to 12th Fret on Hawthorne... they had done some fret work for me 20 years ago, and I was impressed with their service and capabilities. However, I didn't get a call back after leaving a voicemail with my service details. I called a few of the other "boutique" repair shops around town, and left voicemails... but again, no call back. I finally found a shop that picked up the phone, but when he said he had never heard of the D-Tuna device, I said never mind. Then I remembered local Tigard Music had a repair shop. I called and spoke with Mark, and felt really good about the conversation, and brought my guitar in. While my request was not a common service request, Mark did some research and came up with a solution that worked perfectly. He also addressed a fret issue for me, and did both services for a great price. He even gave me advice on some other minor fixes I could do myself without spending a lot of money. I was very impressed. I will definitely be bringing my guitars for repair/upgrades to Mark and Tigard Music in the future! P.S. While I am primarily a guitar player, I bought a ukulele from them recently, and the selection/prices were great! Aloha!
