Five stars for the price of a trumpet for under $500 which should last my kid through high school. The rental through the school was over $20 dollars a month plus insurance so it made sense to buy one. it's great because I didn't have to get a questionable instrument online, and the place the school recommended had a $2000++ trumpet and that's outside my budget Communication is challenging. Not straightforward and definitely not as quick and easy as online shopping. We signed up for lessons. Had a bit of communication issues and the owner stepped in to help move the way since summer schedule is different than school schedule. ( aka travel and camps mess up a regular class time). For $129/ 4 lessons 30 min other friends say this is a great deal. I have no idea if it's a good deal or not, but I really like the teacher. Lots of other great teachers here. I think the retail store at the teaching area should be two different reviews but alas ( dated decor but worth it for the price. I'd hate try pay more for a glam studios which does nothing to teach my kid) Again communication is an issue. Patience and patience and it's worth it read more

This place is a joke! We took our daughters guitar there to see if they could resell it. It's been over a year and we have received no money for it even though the say they sold it. We have tried to speak to the owner multiple times over the last year about the situation. First, he couldn't find the guitar? Then it magically was at his house for reasons never explained to us?, then he said he sold it but never told us a price or asked us if that was an acceptable amount or anything. Now we are told that it takes a long time to receive payment from the owner. It's been over a year!! The employees at the store told me there are many people coming in daily asking for money for their instruments that were resold at this store. The owner will not respond to emails or calls and never pays the customers!! DO NOT USE LAKE MUSIC!!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I would give zero stars if I could! read more

One of two local music stores in my area recommended by our much beloved (and appreciated) band director. I actually prefer Wally's Music in Oregon City, but both businesses offer rent-to-own programs for a variety of instruments. This is very helpful when your child picks up an instrument in 6th grade and you're not quite sure if it will stick. The store is conveniently located on Boones Ferry Road, but is an old and cluttered space. I don't think I've ever seen a music store that looks any different. They have a mix of new and used instruments and also provide a list of local teachers if you want to take private lessons. read more

Lake Music is a great local shop. I bought a guitar that I have really enjoyed. They carry Breedlove and other brands at great prices. Breedlove is a Bend, Oregon based company so you're really supporting local businesses if you shop here. Also Robert is a great music teacher. The lessons have been a lot of fun and I've gotten a lot better with his help. read more

Lake Music Store is a disaster. I called to check availability on a couple of music books that my son needed for school. From the moment of walking in, it was one mistake after another. First, I was never given the opportunity to inspect the books before paying for them. Second, I was told that the charge on my credit card did not go through and had to be run again even though I had already signed for the purchase. Turns out that I was double charged and had to wait for their bookkeeper to provide me with a refund. Three, I was given the wrong book. I then could not get a refund for the wrong book until the bookkeeper came to process it. Yes, this is in 2018. Finally, I was offered a cash refund for the book which I accepted. Four, the cash refund was incorrect and she argued with me until I showed her the receipt of what she charged me. Five, she was mistaken that the bookkeeper was coming in and so she would text the bookkeeper to issue the refund for a double payment. I finally had to go through my credit card to sort through all of this. If this is what happens when you stop in for a book, I can't imagine what goes on with actual lessons or instrument rentals. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place. read more

What kind of store rents unplayable instruments to beginners?.... Over the last three months my 6th grade son had been struggling with his rent-to-own alto sax from Lakeside. After many tears and frustrated practices, I took it back to Lakeside where they "adjusted" it. He then went to the band teacher to see he could help and even the band teacher couldn't get a descent sound out of the instrument. I just hope this experience hasn't permanently squashed my son's interest in band. read more
