It was my first time at guitar center and I needed a restring on an old guitar. It's $35 which is pretty affordable. I came late on a Saturday so the tech was out but I was able to drop it off pick it up another day. Overall the staff were super nice and the process was quick and easy. Came in to pick up a storage bag i had ordered on line for my daughter's band instrument. My first impression was, WOW! This place is huge! Every guitar, every amplifier, keyboard etc.. was well organized, price tags were clearly visible, well-stocked and properly displayed throughout the store. Stores employees were extremely friendly and professional and efficient. During my visit, I observed one employee educating two, young future DJ's on the proper use of specific pieces of equipment and which affordable items to purchase (no upsell observed) One item on my bucket list is to learn to play the bass guitar. With the big selection of bass guitars, amps and great pricing, I am tempted to return this coming week to purchase my bass guitar and amp so I can be a rock star :) Great and positive shopping experience read more

Came in today to buy some headphones and cords for my speakers. I usually visit the store in puente hills but I found myself in Covina today. Extremely busy store. I was helped by a young man named Daniel. Very polite. Very informative. And moved with a sense of urgency but at the same time I never rushed. I was in and out in thirty minutes flat. I bought a guitar and lessons for a Xmas gift on December 3rd. They immediately double charged my card. It took 5 weeks and half a dozen in person visits to get the second charge reversed. A nightmare. Then a month later, I noticed another charge on my card from guitar center for $260 that I did not authorize and was not even aware of. They auto charged my card for another fraudulent charge! I called them 3 times to get the charge reversed but its like talking to a potato. The employee told me, "oh we're like a gym membership, you have to cancel our autorenewal or you get autobilled and we dont refund or cancel charges." But, when you purchase from them they DO NOT inform you of this and they dont require your signature to impose this "gym membership" on you. Useless employees and zero customer service. This place has a fraudulent billing system and they make it nearly impossible to rectify their charges. I had to cancel my card and file fraudulent charge alert with my bank. I highly recommend anybody to stay away. A racket. They must be desperate for business if they have to scam customers for extra money. Not a sustainable business model and I'm sure we will see going out of business signs on this building soon. Oh and a side note... The instructor for the lessons was terrible. Not even worth the cost in the first place. This place is garbage all the way around. What type of musical instrument store compares themselves to a "gym membership"? If you buy anything from this store, pay cash or report your card stolen immediately after you leave the store to save yourself a major headache later. read more

Went in for help with my daughter's snare drum, which I know nothing about tuning it. The staff were pleasant and extremely helpful. One of the employees used my daughter's snare drum and showed me the difference in sound. He took his time and played it to make sure the sound was perfect. My daughter was happy with the result. Went in to buy a few sets of guitar strings. Selection was really limited and had to settle for something more basic than I normally buy. But the thing that irked me the most was the whole time I was walking around not a single employee said a word to me (welcomed me or asked if I needed help). When I went up to pay the guy who checked me out said only about 3 words and did not look up from texting on his phone basically the whole time. Daniel technician Guiitar Center Repairs Maintance & Modifications I have utilized Daniel on three different occasions for repairs, restring, and a full service on an a custom built Eddie Van Halen Franken Strat replica guitar. Daniel takes the time to explain everything in detail, I am not well-versed in guitar terminology but the way Daniel breaks it down makes it very easy for a non-guitarist to be able to understand. He truly knows his craft and does it well. I am not a musical instrument player, but my eldest daughter is. She was recently given an acoustic guitar for her birthday. When we received the guitar, its package was missing the Instructional DVD and 3 guitar picks. I was within the Glendora vicinity running other errands and thought I swing on by this Guitar Center to get the missing pieces. WOW... what a guitar store, not just of guitars, but other instruments as well! Michael, the store manager, was the one who assisted me. He was very busy handling several transactions at one time. He did wonderfully well all around. After hearing what I needed, he offered to replace the entire guitar package for me which I ended up doing and tune the guitar for me. I was on a time constraint, hence, I did not take up on the tuning offer... at the same time, I wanted my daughter to tune it herself... good practice for her. Anyway, got the 3 picks, however, none of their Mitchell brand guitar packages at the store had the Instructional DVD available which I found odd, but hey, that's okay because Michael was kind enough to offer me a credit for that missing piece which resulted in a credit of $21+ back on my friend's credit card. THANK YOU SO MUCH MICHAEL for going above and beyond providing world class service! I appreciate you. Also, there was a sticker of some sort on the front of the guitar that needed to be removed. I didn't want to damage the guitar so I asked Michael if he can help with it. We went to the repair area of the store... I don't remember the name of the gentleman who helped me, but he figured it out in a jiffy. There was actually a thin plastic film where the sticker was on and all he did was remove that film... easy-peasy! Now we know LOL and thank you sir! Again, staff was fantastic all around. The store was clean and organized. It is quite a big store for just instruments. Love all the guitars displayed on the wall. They have a repair section which is great. They also offer lessons on various instruments. I don't know... maybe one day, I'll take some guitar lessons... at least get one instrument under my belt in this lifetime LOL. I tried the piano and that didn't work out for me... too rigid with the fingers and having to work with 88 keys. Maybe 6 strings might work out better for me, but then again, I have to learn the notes... another challenge LOL! I don't know how my daughter does it, but she does well with her instruments. If you're a music enthusiast and plays an instrument and would like to add on the guitar or another, swing on by this Guitar Center and check them out! I took a Balalaika that needed some new strings as well as a repair to replace a broken peg that holds the end of one the strings. Daniel of Guitar center of Glendora repair Dept worked for about a hour on drilling out the broken peg, finding a replacement and making sure it was secured and able to take the string's tension. He accomplished the task with a wonderful problem solving ability while remaining calm and focused. I highly recommend him for any instrument repair one might have. My experience at Guitar Center in Glendora was nothing short of a nightmare. The customer service is atrocious. I dealt with a manager named Skyler (or possibly Scott--he might have changed his name after I asked for it), who seemed completely clueless about how Guitar Center or Musician's Friend operates. Rather than addressing a mistake made by another employee, Skyler became defensive and refused to take any responsibility. The communication was the worst part. Skyler acts more like an unruly teenager than someone holding a manager position. When I pointed out the contradictions in his statements--first claiming he couldn't pull up online orders at all, then saying maybe he could if I came to the store, though he wasn't sure because he hadn't received any pick requests--he actually hung up on me...twice actually. This kind of behavior is unprofessional and frankly, unacceptable. I won't be coming to this location, and I strongly advise others to avoid it as well. read more

I recently purchased a beautiful Ibanez guitar from the Glendora Guitar Center. Everyone here has been super helpful. One particular gentleman helped me out with my issue today. My Ibanez was having a small buzzing on lower frets. Daniel in the repair section took my guitar and in about 5 minutes was able to recognize the problem and make adjustments so that it's sounding like brand new. Horrible experience. I received 4 guitar lessons as a gift in December. After completing 2 of the classes, Guitar Center auto-billed an additional $260 for 4 more lessons on the credit card of the person who gifted me the lessons without asking if I wanted to buy more lessons. This is fraudulent billing practice and this company has dozens of bad reviews from people who have the same or similar experience. I wish I never even received this gift. The store refuses to cancel or refund the $260. I feel awful for the person who bought me the initial 4 lessons as a gift. read more

I went this afternoon to ask about mandolins for my son. The young man was very helpful. I selected a mandolin and asked about a case. The customer service guy said he needed to help a couple looking at guitars... but he was stuck with them for quite a while. So I went to the front desk. Someone was helping another customer. Another guy wearing a mask was staring into the distance. A third was checking inventory. I laid the mandolin on the counter and left. Oh well. Bad customer service. I walked in with my kids a few moments ago. I came in to buy a few things. They love testing the keyboards out, most of them on display were not functioning/not turning on and some of them had speakers blown out. Then I went to test their pedal display which allows you to test out their pedals. A few seconds trying em out I had an associate come up to me and tell me to turn it down in front of my kids when the volume was on 2. If you don't want to hear the people trying out pedals don't put it next to the sales desk. He even gave a sarcastic comment "love what you're playing though." So I head back to the keyboards and my son is playing and one of the associates comes up and asked me if I had any questions, me already being in a bad mood I said no, thanks, then he says under his breath, "oh just goofing off?" I was going to buy a keyboard and a hard case for my guitar but their lack of customer service experience was a turn off for me. Never coming back here again. I've been playing/ touring for 20+ years, worst experience I've had in a music store. read more

Why, no matter what time or day I come, does it take 30 minutes to pay? Everytime time I come it's the same situation. I'm not blaming the employees because they are genuinely busy doing stuff but it just seems like corporate has them doing so many other things behind the counter and it's just hard for them to keep up with customers to the point they don't even look up to acknowledge the line. I went to this music shop yesterday and I really think it is a very conscientious and warm-hearted music shop. The staff were very helpful and willing to help me. Especially the manager here, although I don't know his name, he was very patient from beginning to end. I am a beginner piano player, I have been asking all kinds of questions, and he has been patiently helping me answer them. I thanked him. Before I bought it, he went to see if the car was big enough to fit a piano. The answer is no. But! I passed by a very handsome father and son, and they and the manager helped me dismantle the box. Disintegrated and put it in my car! I can't imagine what I would have done if I'd done it myself! Their patience and enthusiasm are worth learning from. This guitar center has been a a place my son and I enjoy visiting. We've bought sheet music, and other items over the years. Today might be our last visit. When we arrived it was apparent that every staff member was extremely busy. Jake (Jack) let me know he'd be able to help me when he was done with his guest. That turned into almost 45minutes. When I tried to get his attention he intentionally avoided eye contact and walked quickly to the back. I left with my son, and decided to call the store from the parking lot to see if we could receive better customer service this way. Jake picks up the phone, and helped with my question. He was polite, and even let me know they had 3 different types of iRig Pads to choose from starting at around $115. I thanked him for helping me, and my son and I walked back into the store. We stood by the register for a few minutes before a very disheveled and slightly frantic employee came to the register. I told him I just spoke with Jake on the phone about an iRig and would love to take a look at it. Jake had now made his way to the register, pointed to the area and told the guy to take me over there. I had spent plenty of time in the same section and hadn't noticed it. This employee couldn't find it either, so we returned to the register as he began to look it up online. That's when he looked up and let me know there aren't any in the entire country. I let him know I had just spoke to Jake on the phone when he let me know they had 3 of them. Jake then walked up and said "I'm really fuxxxng busy. Looks like were out of em". (COMPLETELY thrown by him cursing within ear shot of my 10year old son) I replied "We just spoke on the phone and you told me there were 3." He then let me know he hadn't really had a chance to look, and that he didn't think I was coming in to the store. What!? So you just politely make up stories to people on the phone?? Beyond disappointing, and a waste of an hour. The lack of professionalism to curse around kids was pretty lame too. I enjoy guitar center, but the dishonesty from their staff, and absolute lack of care for me as a customer was the reason I had to share my experience. It's already more convenient to shop online, but trying to support a local business only to get treated like this makes it tough. read more

I stopped by here yesterday evening with my husband to use our gift cards that we received from an awesome yelp event last month. This Guitar Center is a big location, compared to a few other locations I have seen that are somewhat close in this area. Guitars are displayed on the walls and the sales floor when you enter the store. Each room in the store is organized by the types of instruments/ equipment they have available. We just browsed the store looking through the drums section, keyboards, DJ equipment and so forth. Two employees had asked me if I needed any help while I was shopping. The employee who rang up my transaction was very nice. I had asked him if he was musically inclined and he smiled and told me that he does DJ-ing on the side and that he has always been into music since he was young. He was quite friendly and made small talk w/ me just fine. Overall, had a great experience and enjoyed looking through all the items they had for sale. By the way, there is a parking lot in the back of the store where there is the main entrance to the store. read more

There's been decent experiences with some employees, but overall, at this rate, I don't know why I keep returning to this store. This review is in regards to their repair center. In the past two years, there has been two repair guys. A Black dude and a White Dude. I don't remember their names. But the Black dude, hands down, an amazing guy to work with. He is easy going, easy to talk to, and never has he made me feel like he was trying to sell me something during a repair. Unfortunately, due to this COVID-19 era that we're in, there is only one repair tech working, and unfortunately for me, it's the White dude. Yesterday, I brought in two high-end acoustic guitars to get my strings replaced. The morning before I brought it in, I strummed test my guitars to make sure I feel like I want the strings to be changed and they did feel weak (and look a bit dirty). However, and here is an important detail: I DON'T HAVE ISSUES WITH BUZZES. At least not anything crazy and recognizable to my ears. So, I bring it in and dropped it off at the repair center. I was hoping the Black repair tech was working. But instead, it was the White repair tech. I walked away for a few min to speak with a sales rep about a sales question. When I returned to the repair tech, the White dude started playing the low-E string in front of me and intense amount of "buzzes" were coming out of every section of the fretboard on that particular string that he strummed. He stated to me, "this is not music" and proceeded to recommend a "set-up" service for around $50 bucks per guitar. I told him, I didn't budget my money to include the setups (especially when considering that buzz was NEVER an issue when I played it at home. Now suddenly, intense buzzes was coming off of the guitar, coincidentally, after I bring it in for a string change?). So, I told him that I only wanted my strings change. I then walked back to the sales rep to finish up my sales transaction. Then, when I returned to the repair tech, he proceeded to tell me that he heard buzzes from my second guitar, and tried to sell me a lower cost set-up service that included a rod-adjustment for around $34 dollars for each of my guitar bringing my total to close to around $80, double the cost of regular string changes ($40 for two guitars, $20 each). Also, keep in mind, I didn't have issues with buzzes when I played the guitars at home. At this point, I'm annoyed because I felt that he was just trying to make money off of me and making me feel that my guitars were out of order. Despite the fact that the issues that he was bringing up were NOT issues I experienced when playing my guitars at home. I should have taken back my guitars and left and sought services elsewhere. But I made a huge mistake to proceed with the services (SEE PHOTO ATTACHED). Because when I returned later that evening to pick up my guitars, one of the pins that holds one of the strings in place was NOT SET PROPERLY. See the photo. Unfortunately, the repair tech had already left for the day, so, there was nothing I could do. I did mention it to a manager named Rob. But he just recommended that I come back when the repair guy is in. However, I live near Downtown LA for school and only pass the Glendora store occasionally on my way to visit family in the IE. So, for me, that's a 40 min inconvenient drive, there and back, just to receive a fix by a repair tech that I don't even trust. I don't understand why I was being sold set-up services for issues I DID NOT have before coming in. And I don't understand why, out of all the customers, I had to be the one who got a shitty-ass repair job. Now, I feel very uncomfortable with my guitars because I'm wondering if he screwed up anything else. I wished the Black repair tech had been working. For nearly two years, I had zero issues with the other repair tech. Honestly, I just want my $40 bucks refunded so that I can take my guitars to a different repair shop to get my strings restrung. read more

I took my gibson SG in because a couple of my inlays had popped out of the fretboard. I took into guitar center since that's were I bought. One of the guitar techs there went above and beyond when fixing my guitar. You could tell nit only was he treating my guitar as if it were one of my children(which it most certainly is) but also he was honest friendly and even recommended somethings for me to try that I had never heard of in my 20+ years playing.
