I don't know why I'm always intimidated to go in here...maybe it's all the knowledgeable staff or b/c they're usually attractive in that hot rocker sort of way, but I definitely won't let the stop me from coming here again. I brought my acoustic/electric guitar from work in - in hopes to have the electric part repaired. It was half way working and could be fixed all the way, just not that moment. I mentioned that aesthetics weren't a big deal, it was for the Christmas show the next day at the non-profit i work for so I'd deal with it and bring it back later. The repair guy quietly fetched the piece needing replaced and went to work...he also changed my strings and cleaned up the (probably NEVER before cleaned) guitar. THEN, he told me I only needed to pay for the parts. How's that for a sweet Christmas story? So then I paid for the parts, bought some more strings (that I was previously going to order cheaper online but have obviously since changed my mind) and left guitar center with more faith in humanity. read more

I was in search of a small portable keyboard so I thought I could find one here. Walked in, was never greeted nor acknowledged. After walking around for several minutes (about 10) without so much as even a look by an employee, I decided to walk up to one of them who was setting up a new display or somethings (it's not as if he was not busy but there were other employees there & they were either on the phone with costumers, helping actual physical costumers or outside smoking (I passed them when I walked in). I politely asked him to find someone for me in the keyboard/electronics area to help me. He immediately stopped what he was doing & called someone to come help me. It took another 5 mins until this employee came. He basically didn't want to be there was the immediate reaction I got from him. I told him what I was looking for & once he realized it was a small ticket item he didn't care to help me at all. I don't know if he was having a bad day or had just eaten lunch or whatever but he just did not want to be there & definitely did not want to help me. Eventually, I thanked him & took my business elsewhere. Seriously, their customer service has a lot to be desired or just basic general personal skills. The fact that no one looked at me while there & that I had to search for help is bad enough and then when I finally get it, he makes me feel like I'm bothering him. No thank you. Moving on. I really hope that corporate reads this message from someone who truly loves this store and been buying gear here since 1995. The golden era of the store when u used to walk in and people where banging on drums,playing guitars,playing with keyboard and they where all connected and ready for u to demo and the recording room was something to be proud of. Always full of gear and all with the prices on it. So today I went to check out some synthesizer and while I was playing with one speaker not 2 a guy walks up and tells me to lower it down. I got furiours as I was checking a $3,500 nord rack synth. I think that was rude. I was not being loud. As I remember banging on key boards back in the day and never got told anything. I told the guy u lost a $3,500 sale for $100 sale to that lady. Great. Keep it up. Now I'm not goin back to check out anything. I will spend my money somewhere else. The fun it's gone in that place. Walked in just now, Monday afternoon. Needed to buy some strings and there wasn't a single worker in the guitar department. Not a single one. After walking around for a bit I went into the audio department, and it was empty. The two workers were just talking. Why can't one of them walk over to see if the customers need help elsewhere? There were four customers at guitars department waiting to be helped. After a bit, a guy came out from the back, looked like the whole time he was restringing a guitar or something. He immediately picks up the phone and doesn't acknowledge any of the customers waiting for him. I waited a bit longer to see if he would tell us to give him a minute at least. After no one came to assist, I walked out. It's no wonder Guitar Center is going out of business. Now I'll just order my stuff on amazon. read more

The only reason I go to this store is because it is conveniently located near me. I've had more than a couple less-than-stellar experiences doing business with this Guitar Center so when I was in the market for a ukulele, I decided to give my business to another music store located a few miles south. Thank you, Miami Music Works. Twice I have looked for specific products on the Guitar Center website (a tuner and a leather guitar strap) to see if they had them in stock. Their website indicated that, yes, they were available at the 7736 N Kendall Dr location. I went to the store, asked for the items, and they were not available. I was told they could request it from their warehouse. I was directed to look at tuners and straps which were much more expensive. While one employee went to look for something in the back, I started asking the guy sitting at the electric guitar area (by the front window) for help. He helped me with the tuner I ended up buying. The worst experience was a few years ago at Christmas when I went to buy an Ovation guitar for my daughter. I went in, tried it out, and told the employee I wanted to buy it later that night after my husband had time to try it out. The employee sold it to another customer the same day. My husband and I went in that evening and were astonished to find it was no longer on hold for me. I understand they just want to make the sale, but I was going to buy it. I had to order another one and it arrived a week after Christmas. Oh, well, my mistake. Like another review said, "If you've ever wondered what it's like to be invisible, come to this Guitar Center." went in for a pedal...the entire pedal set up of all they had to sell was put together like a three year old playing with blocks !!! not one pedal worked, even trying to isolate one pedal from the others was a losing proposition because they couldn't get power to the pedals ! Tried an amp...same thing !!! the Cables were crappy and caused a lot of noise , the guitars worth playing were hanging up high ... no one to help you get one down ... WORST STORE EVER! NO STARS! I've always had terrible experiences. Terrible attention and nobody does anything to fix that, is like nobody really cares. I have to start off by saying this is my favorite music supply store off all time. Besides the fact that they offer so many gadgets and gizmos ranging from Dj sets to synthesizers, they actually allow their customers to test out the equipment before purchase. For example: I have gone there over fifty times to try out a new pair of CDJ 2000's (Digital Turntable) and I literally have sat there mixing for a few hours - and let me tell you, the music was not playing at a low volume either. Honestly worst service ever, I went with my boyfriend and he just needed to find guitar strings....thats it. We were expecting to be in there 5 minutes, well we were in there for half an hour because no one was willing to help us. It was empty and there were at least 6 employees working. Recently purchased a guitar that was not in stock, waited 3 - 5 days for it to ship and reach the store. It comes in, I take it home, I take a look and it is damaged, and missing a couple strings, and no wrenches to lock the floyd rose locking nuts in place nor to adjust the bridge. I take it back, and they casually state a new guitar will be shipped in about 1 - 2 business days...They print out the receipt, which states that it will be in about 7 - 10 days and I will be receiving an email to track the new package, Don't understand why they start lying at this point, but it gets worse. 10 days go by and no email, so I go check them out and see whats happening, I get greeted by the manager stating that they have "sooo many shipments, do you know how many we have..." and makes this cunning "business man" excuse to justify the extraneous service they have been providing to me, and shows me that the package was "back ordered", which in short means the guitar, which is crafted in China/Indonesia is actually going TO BE MADE FROM SCRATCH and no one knows when this guitar will be in the store for pick up...I assume I will get this guitar by the end of the year or sometime 2020....maybe....This store USED to offer slightly better service quality, this has been poor ! BTW seeing the same guitar sold at the store's site "used" for the same price purchased, makes me wonder if they aren't pulling a fast one on me, There is this "wolf" behavior aura about this place as of late...might as well get my money back and go another retail store that also sells this brand of guitars, maybe sweetwater or sam ash, really. UPDATE: After calling guitar center's representative to ask if I could get a refund on the order, he states that I could...I go to guitar center and, after the extraneous and unnecessary amount of incompetence I was met with by the store manager, I ask to give me my money back in cash, he ends up giving me a check ! I go to the bank and cash it in, no problem, because after this horrible experience They not only did not make that $320, but just lost a long time customer that will not be returning to guitar center after this. Have a good day P.S These people are using predatory tactics ! they will try to rob you and play it off as if they will not return cash too you, when it is their obligation to the customer, so long as they return the item within a limited time, which has to be stated clearly as you purchase your products, if not, ASK about this before they run with your money and your are stuck with a broken product that has been discontinued and never to be re-stocked! After coming in a couple of times and spending thousands in DJ equipment, came back today to buy some lighting and a monitor. I had a couple of sales guys help me and just take off on me because they didn't know about lights and controllers. Then when I asked another sales guy for help he told me "wasn't someone else helping you? You are putting me in a bad position. Let me see if I can find the other guy." The other guy took off for lunch so this last sales guy comes back so I asked him a couple of questions about lights and he replied by saying "I thought you knew what you wanted already".. so I told him don't worry, I will spend another thousand in lighting somewhere else. I've been playing for years now but I still use my first guitar that I bought here. I will always remember the day the salesman, Jason Pittman, sold me that guitar. He made a huge effort and pulled down what seemed like every guitar until we found the right one. Years later, I saw him there again and am still playing the same guitar. I just went in and traded something in to get an upgrade, the sales associate thinks he is some kind of rock star and has this attitude every time I go there. I do the deal just because I really wanted this item and didn't want to spend the time selling on ebay. He gives me the item off the shelf ( I just paid 400 for it and got robbed on the trade ) I asked if it was new and he said yes so I figured o.k. I started putting it in the car when I noticed a lot of dings on the edge so I went back in and told him, and with his b.s. attitude he says its the only one we got. so I said let me have my trade in back, now he wants to order one for me. I went in today to pick up an online order. I think the person who helped me was the General Manager. The interaction was short, but man was he rude. He saw me walk in, and in an annoyed tone asked what I was at GC for. He asked me for my name and couldn't find the order. He immediately got upset and asked for the order number. I went closer to his side so I can hear him and I tried showing him the number to which he said I'm not going to look at it. He continued to be upset when he couldn't understand me as I was reading the order number. Also, as he went into the back to retrieve my order he was snooty to two customers who were looking at guitars. When he came back with my order, I had told him I was missing an item, which I later found out was not ready. This was my fault but he seemed pissed off that I tried to correct him. He then tried to hurry me up by saying "check your email for the rest of the order when it is ready." I have been to the South Miami location many times and have had many great experiences but today was not one! read more

I'm a percussionist/drummer, so I spend most of my time at that section of the store. The employee working that section (always forget his name) is knowledgeable and more than happy to help me look and make a selection. No wasted extra time. I placed an order and noticed only half of it shipped. after a few days going by, I called to see what the deal was. Would've been nice if they would've called me, but nevertheless, William was super awesome and apologetic stating that someone on their shipping team had quit and thus my order suffered as a result. Although days had gone by, and thank god I contacted them, they did make up for it by shipping it overnight to rectify the mistake. Andrew was a great help the next day considering my worry for not ever receiving a tracking number, e-mail receipt or the like. The box arrived as said by william, the very next morning. The only issue was that the box sticker/seal was broken and there were some very minor scuffs on the gear. No doubt the gear was new or maybe opened and repackaged, but hey, it works and looks mostly new. They get three stars because 3 means "a-ok", and that is what this was. read more

These days there are few brick and mortar music stores around the Miami Area, Internet has taken a lot of victims, but you can't try out an instrument on internet, there's nothing like playing it in person, where do you go? In my case, Guitar Center. This location is very clean, the staff is super friendly, you can try all the instruments you like and ask all type of questions and somebody will always be helping you find what you are looking for. They have a great variety of guitars, amps and accessories, I still don't know what happened to Mesa Boogie, you used to find them in Guitar Centers, but now they are not there. Anyways, there's nothing like going to a music store and see and try the instruments in person, you can't do that on internet, and if besides that you are getting a good service, for me it's a great deal! Let me start by saying I am a GC person. I come from a make-me-feel-at-home stores in Madrid, Spain and I found this store conveniently located, chill enough and full of knowleadgeable and friendly staff. Well, that used to be so till today April 04, 2014. I went there two days ago and visited the bass section. I fell in love with a 5 stringer Music Man Stingray at a very good price. Since then I noticed the bass (probably from sitting there too long) was a bit bowed. We all know 5 stringers exert a lot of pressure, especially if not played frequently, hence today I told the most amazing and nicest sales person (Carlos) I would need the guitar checked up by the in-store technician. I just needed the technician to see if he could help me get my bass home in good shape. I had to play tonight and tomorrow night. Unfortunately, the technician said he could do it, but he wanted 75 dollars for the job. So, I am buying a new bass, from a very reputable store and you (that I guess are not working on your own and also kind of belong to the staff) tell me I should pay full price for an instrument I have then to take to you, 5 meters away to have it fixed!!! Nonsensical!!! Go buy your car, but the battery does not work and there is a guy conveniently located inside the dealer that will sell a new one for 100 bucks. What kind of service is that? When I tried to see if that was true, then the guy said he was also clocked out and was leaving asap. Angry as hell, I asked for a manager (I have bought more than 4K worth of equipment here in less than a year) and a guitar section manager rapidly cut me off trying to cover his buddy up. Manners were rude, as if they were trying to get rid of me in a spur and making me feel I was the crazy one. Hell, yeah. It is sad to say, but you can keep your business for yourselves. I will not visit your establishment anymore. BTW, a bit of research and Sam Ash Dolphin Mall filled the gap you created with quite a professional and fast response. I played tonight with a 5 string Music Man, still at a very good price and far better customer service. Learn!!! Good luck with your mess. read more

I have tried and tried to find a music store near the downtown Miami area to go to instead of this place. The service is terrible, the workers are rude and there isn't a single female employee in the entire store that I've ever seen. (I've heard horror stories from my lady musician friends about the attitudes towards them in this store.) Every time I go here there is a new way this store goes out of their way to inconvenience me. Just yesterday I waited over 10 minutes at the register while employee after employee walked by me and the line growing around me. Some even avoiding the situation visibly. After somebody finally came over the product I was buying was charged as a different price then listed and I had to argue for the correct price. This place sucks, go anywhere else. I only go here as a last resort or when a friend drags me along. The Guitar Center in Hallandale Beach is far better and just as close to downtown Miami. read more

I Ordered a brand new Taylor acoustic guitar last week I went to pick it up this afternoon very excited about it but my excitement fade away quickly when I asked for my package and it was given to me, The sales associate did not show any customer service skills when I ask to open the package so we can review it he gave me a dirty look and tell me to open it myself can you believe that? you do not expect that from a representative of your fine institution, so I opened the box by myself and I asked another associate to give me information about warranty and such, again the lack of knowledge was very disappointed another thing I ordered a rosewood color and I got a natural at this point I just want to get out of the store so I grab the guitar and left I don't think I'm gonna do business with guitar center again as a matter fact I think I'm gonna go return the merchandise and by somewhere else. I have bought most of my guitars over the years at Guitar Center. I would chose the Kendall location over the Sam Ash on Dolphin mall for one great reason: They let you play every guitar to your heart's content before committing to buy the instrument - and I do just that. There is no pressure to make up your mind in 5 minutes or less. These things take time. Some people may not like that the sales people don't rush you as you enter the place - but I happen to like that. There's one sales person who has been there for years, and I'm sorry I forget his name, but this man always recognizes me, even if its been months between visits. This place is a musician's playground, and while they're not the cheapest for everything, they are great for what matters: Guitars! read more
