    1969 Les Paul Custom.

I just had my 1969 Les Paul re-wired by Johnny - and words cannot describe the gratitude I have for him and his skill set when working on vintage guitars. As you can imagine, finding a solid tech in South Florida is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Well...look no further, and here's the killer...he has zero ego and will go the extra mile to ensure the experience and the performance of his craftsmanship is priced beyond fair...makes me wonder if I've been over paying for all of my guitar work, up until now? The net/net - If you're looking for a great guitar tech is S.FL he's your guy.

What is it with guys and guitars? I walk into a place like Guitar Nook needing only a new set of strings for my J200. Next thing I know I'm dishing about guitars with the super friendly and knowledgeable and low-key Johnny. My favorite kind of locally owned indie shop. And yeah I got my strings. Fender .11s and Johnny told me the elixir coating are gonna have me sounding like James Taylor in no time!

Awesome place with great service. They have everything you need right here in N Miami, and at the same prices as you find online...! Everything from pics and strings to beginner guitars, amps and Mid-level & high-end guitars, both acoustic and electric. Jonny is super knowledgeable, friendly and will help however he can. They do guitar service, repairs and set ups too. He gives lessons and is a fantastic teacher! Shop local & shop the best, love the Guitar Nook!

My Squier 70's JOhnny repaired and replaced the neck on.

Highly recommended by friends in North Miami Beach, this is the epitome of 'local family owned guitar shop'. I had bought a Squier body cheap from a dude that was about to throw himself off a roof after he popped the neck by cranking on the truss rod too many times and then couldn't get a replacement to fit and threw in the towel. Little did I know - I figured EZ PEEZY - I had a neck laying around that would (should) fit just fine, etc - you ever do this? A month later and you've ruined 2 TUSQ nuts AND the neck and came THIS CLOSE to ruining the pocket the neck fits into at 3am when you finally snap and realize you're in WAYYYY over your head and just throw the thing across the room. Johnny at the Guitar Nook is in North Miami just north of NW 135th street on the left side of Biscayne if you are driving north. The last shop in a small nondescript shopping plaza, you walk in and you're surrounded by Guitars. I showed him what I had done (cough, cough - er, destroyed) , and we shared a good laugh together. I left the pieces with him and crossed my fingers and said a quiet prayer to the Guitar Gods Fender & Gibson. Next thing you know, my phones ringing and Johnny's telling me " You're good to go" and sure enough - he pulled it together. And I'm not gonna lie - it was a bit of work. He filled the holes that had already been drilled in the tongue of the neck by yours truly, redrilled it RIGHT, sanded and shimmed it so once it was all fit together, the fretboard and string height was right on, then he swapped out the bridge plate, adjusted/radiused the aftermarket saddles for which I had no wrench. Then he found me a tremolo arm that worked with my aftermarket block, installed the tuners on the headstock, strung it up, intonated and tuned for about what the YUGE FACELESS CORPORATE MEGASTORE wanted for a setup alone. Oh yeah, he might have also resoldered the switch jack, adjusted the screws and springs in the back cavity + the claw and put everything back together in showroom "off the wall" condition, covers and all. He basically built me a guitar. Thanks J.

Whether you love unique, classic cars and/or unique, vintage (and new) guitars, Walt Grace Vintage…read moreis a super cool place to visit and peruse in Wynwood Miami, F L A. I don't believe there are any other stores (in the world?) that combine vintage cars and vintage guitars under one roof, but I always thought they were similar in spirit. When I bought my Dakota red telecaster from 1965, I admit that I also pictured a Dakota red classic Mustang from a similar era. I was actually in the market for a new acoustic and with the help of Jeff, tried a number of the new guitars for sale. I didn't buy one that day because I was still looking and visiting stores in south Florida. I think more than any purchase, you have to physically play a guitar to see if it fits you and the sound is appealing. I suppose a lot of people collect guitars without the intent to play them and that's fine, too. The cars are pretty impressive - reminded me of James Bond movies. And the wide range of electric and acoustic guitars are equally impressive; every one of the them has a story to tell. They also sell used and new amplifiers and other merch (including a Cafe!); I'm thinking of bringing in my amplifier for consignment.

Wynwood District gem: coffee, cars & guitars…read more Perfect pre-flight find. I was on a mission for La Colombe coffee, IYKYK, and somehow landed in this very cool, unexpected little spot. Thought it'd be a quick stop... nope. Instantly hooked. Sipping a breve flat white alongside a chocolate croissant and an oat-milk capp, surrounded by vintage cars and guitars? Yeah, that escalated quickly. Then they throw in collectible vinyl just to really test your self-control. Come on now. If you're a music lover or just looking for something different, this place fits perfectly into the Wynwood vibe...creative, curated, and effortlessly cool. Honestly, once you see La Colombe on the menu, everything else just falls into place. Service, staff, and vibe? Perfetto! Didn't plan on staying long, didn't want to leave. See ya again soon.
